Hi,

Thanks for your information. Conrad Friedrich BAHM was my 2nd Great Grandfather. He and my 2nd Great Grandmother Martha ? immigrated to the US on 7 MAR 1868 on the ship Atalanta to New York. Then, they came to Stark County, IL. With them was my Great Grandfather Jacob BAHM who was unmarried at that time and Adam STEIG who was a brother to my soon to be married Anna Mary STEIG. Jacob and Anna Mary were married at Stark County, IL on 13 APR 1870. They had their first son there, Jacob in 1871.

Then for some reason, they must have gone back to Germany between 1871-1874 because their second son, Adam was born in Germany. I am not sure if Conrad and Martha went back also but have a hunch that they may have since I have not been able to find any death records for them. My Grandfather John BAHM was born in IL in 1888 so my great grandparents had come back to the US by then. I do not know if they had any other children over in Germany other than Adam.
That is a span of 14 years between my grandfather and his one brother who was born in Germany. I think they had a sister but don't know if she was born in the US or Germany and don't know when she was born or died.

Are you a BAHM also?

Jim

Did you ever learn anything about your Bahm ancestors, and where they came from in Germany? My great grandparents came from Menzingin, Baden, Germany. I've wondered if there could be a connection. Most of my family went to Nebraska, near Omaha and Lincoln, in little farming communities like Wahoo, Malmo, etc.

Hello. I'm not sure if you will get this in time, but my name is Kimberly Sookbang. My grandfather is Robert Eugene Bahm of Kaw City. We are related to the Bahm's (or Boehme's) that you speak of, in fact THIS weekend, 16 of July, 2011, we are having a Bahm family reunion.

But I was wandering what research you have completed on the family tree? Right now in front of me, I have a biography wrote by Elizabeth Bahm Andree that details her relatives and other useful information on dates and names, and I know my grandma (Virginia Maxine Bahm) has more information that she has uncovered over the years on the Bahm family.

Please feel free to email me at: sookbang@yahoo.com or kimberly.sookbang@okstate.edu

I'm more than willing to swap information!

Margaretha LAUB b. 1805 and Catharina BAHM b. 1802.

4th gr-grandparents were Johann Peter BAHM b. 1767 and m. Eva Rosina WIRTH b. 1765 and Juliana Margaretha KACHELE.

5th gr-grandparents were Hans Bernhard BAHM b.1713 and m.
Maria Margaretha BAHM b. 1716 and Elisabeth Katharina BREUSCH b. 1722.

6th gr-grandparents were Hans Dietrich BAHM b. 1687 and m. Elisabeth HERBOLD b. 1687.

7th gr-grandparents were Hans Bernhard BAHM b. 1634 and m. Juli ? and Dorothea ?

8th gr-grandparents were Bernhard BAHM b. 1608 and m. Barbara SPECHT b. 1610.

Conrad and Martha may have gone back to Germany around 1871 for some reason. I do not know if they returned to IL, USA. I believe my great grandparents Jacob BAHM and Anna Mary STEIG also returned to Germany with them. However, those two did return to the USA probably around 1882 of so.

Does anyone have any information on these families? I would love to find some relatives from any of these families.

I do not speak, read or write any German but would appreciate any help.
. Hi Again,
My Bahm/Behm/Bohm family came from Germany sometime before 1866. Gottfred
b. was b.1810 in Brandenberg Germany, I have records that his son William and his wife Augusta F MAVIS and 2 children came to the US in 1866 and settled on a homestead around Imlay City Michigan. Williams children were Adolph, Carl,Marie,Albert, William,Augusta,CharlesGustave,Frank and John. The children of Adolph (my g grand) were Lavina,Louis,Edward,Louise,Leo, Fredrick (my grandfather),Edna,Alexander, Bessie,Elsie and Minnie. Many of them stayed around the Michigan area but they also scattered here and there The Adolph line migrated to Red Deer, Albereta, Canada. From there several went into New York and somewhere I have a note about Ill.
I live outside Omaha, in Fort Calhoun. Lived in Omaha until 7 years ago when we moved to the country. I live in Norfolk.

As of right now I do not know if any of my BAHMs went to Michigan or LA or elsewhere. Mine came to Stark Co., IL from GERMANY. From IL they came to Platte Co., NE.

However, I do not know if my Gr-Grandfather Jacob BAHM Sr. who was born in Bavaria, Ger in 1847, had any siblings and if he did I do not know if they came at some time too.

My gr-gr-grandfather was Conrad BAHM/BOHM and I think his wife was a Martha which was perhaps a nickname to some other name. I think he was born in 1824 in Germany.

I believe they immigrated between 1866-1870 to Stark Co., IL.

I have been able to trace my family back to around 1860 in livingston parish, La.
Ellis Serville Bahm married Sarah Emmaline Blue. They had two sons porter, and samuel(samuel later changes his name to Wainwright)Ellis disappeared during the war, and sarah remarried. My Grandfather was Porter's son. B. 1894.
The only clue I have, as to where Ellis Serville Bahm came from, is a land purchase in 1839 by a Surville Baham.

Hello to all!!! My daughter and I are currently working on a family tree for her 4-H project. My grandfather was Lawrence Bahm of Winner. His parents were Henry Bahm and Effie Hedlund, also of Winner, SD I believe. I am looking to go further back into their history with their parents, and dates of births and deaths and where buried and born and married if possible. I would truly appreciate any help that can be given to us. Please email me with any information to janellechoal@yahoo.com

Thank you so much

I think we're related. My grandfather, Charles L. Bahm was part of the Philadelphia family. I remember my father, Charles W. Bahm talking about all of the people you listed. We had a reunion at my grandfather's house in Somers Point when I was a teenager and I remember meeting Dan for the first time. We always saw Aunt Dot and I saw her again at my father's funeral last year. I hope you reply as I don't know much about my family background.

The Johan Frederick Wilhem Gottfried Bahm/Behm (John Samuel's father) that you mentioned is my ggg-grandmother's half-brother.

Hi all...I am working on the Bahm family that immigrated to/lived in Lapeer County, Michigan in the mid-to late 1800's. My gggg-grandfather on my mom's side is Godfrey (Gottfried) Bahm. My ggg-grandmother (Godfrey's daughter) was Bertha Bahm who immigrated in 1868 and married Willam Schrinert.

There are several Bahms related living in this same general area. William, August, Adolph, etc etc.

Anyone think they might be related or have info...please contact me. I have been doing genealogy for many years now but have just started working on the Bahms. I found a tree that helps fill in a lot of gaps but the more people that can talk together the more accurate we can get it. :) Look forward to finding my Bahm relations.

Thanks!!!
Star

Hi Star: I would love to converse with you further regarding the Bahm family. I recieved it from a relative in Lethbridge, Alberta and other relatives have hopped on board also. I know there are probably entries that are wrong and I would love for you to help me correct them. It definately sounds like a connection for sure, I thought that was a peculiar last name. I had a relative in Kansas on the Bahm side that recently sent me a picture of Gottfried Bahm, I am sure they would love to hear from you also. I can hook you up if you just e-mail me back at the above address. I look forward to hearing from you with anticipation.
