I'm looking for any information about Elizabeth Sarah Baily.
Born: Abt. 1831 in the US (possibly Indiana).
Married: John Woolcock/Wilcox/Willcock before 1850.

They had 6 children:
Charles William b 1850 Indiana
Benjamin James b 1854 US
Elizabeth Ann b 1856 Caradoc, Middlesex, Upper Canada
Mary Frances b 1858 Caradoc, Middlesex, Upper Canada
Blanche W. b 1861 Caradoc, Middlesex, Upper Canada
Minnie E. b 1863 Caradoc, Middlesex, Upper Canada

I have not been able to establish the names of her parents even though I do have a fairly clear history of her once she went to Canada.

There is a possibility that she may have a parent who was an early Norwegian immigrant circa 1825 as the transcription of a later census listed this as her nationality but this may very well be a red herring as another transcriber has interpreted the hand writing as "not given" rather than "Norwegian." I've looked at the original and it is pretty hard to decide.

She may have a sibling or parent with one of the following given names:
Benjamin Franklin
Bertha
Minerva
Frances
Charles
Sarah

If you happen across any possible links to Elizabeth Sarah Baily, please respond.

My family of Bailys comes from Ireland. John Arthur Baily (born circa 1816 probably in Cork, father Henry, mother Frances Scully) married Johanna Nolan (father Nicholas, mother Johana Kerr) on 30 Jun 1840, parish of Saints Peter and Paul, Clonmel, Tipperary, Ireland. They had at least 4 children born in Tipperary before they emigrated through England to Scotland: Henry Francis; Margaret Mary, Francis Arthur and Frances Mary. Youngest children: Emma Jane Baily was born in Manchester; Elizabeth Ursula and Leon Edward Baily were born in Aberdeen.
Family emigrated to New York, USA in 1866.

Looking for info on John Baily that was a brother/half-brother to Charles (Charlie) Douglas b.1877 d.1953. John was probably a couple of years older or younger than Charlie.

Charlie was born and died in Maury County, TN, but lived in Texas and California between 1900 and 1945. We believe John Baily may have lived in North Texas and Oklahoma after leaving Tennessee. We know he married and had at least 3 little girls when he was in Oklahoma around 1900. We have pictures, but no names.

We think these men may have some relation to the Howard, Nelson, Pope, or Douglas families of Maury and Williamson Counties, Tennessee.

Might anyone have information regarding my great-great-grandmother, Polina E. Baily? I've also seen such derivations of her name as Paulina, Pontina, etc., as well as the last name spelled "Bailey". My great-grandfather's death certificate states that she was born in Tennessee and was married to my great-great-grandfather, Jessie Wyatt, in 1838 in Stewart County, Tennessee. I believe she was born somewhere around 1820, had at least one child, and was dead before 1916. I suspect she was buried around the Murray, KY area. ANY information would be greatly appreciated.
Glad I could help. As to your offer to help answer any questions I may have, I beleive I have the information I need on the Mays family except for Alfred's date of death. I understand that Alfred and John M.were very close and served together during the war. I have no proof of this fact. I also assume that they lived close to each other in Arkansas after the war and expect there close relationship continued which is how my grandmother came to be named Creaner. The only loose piece for me has to do with John M. Mays' wife Elizabeth (my great grandmother). I have no information about her but that is my brickwall. If you do have information regarding her it would be appreciated but I do not expect you do. Again Glad I could help with your question. John

HI,
Query, you were looking for information on baileys,
I don't know if your Bailey is the same family, but our baileys came to the us via newyork, many of the baileys married native indians by the 1800's most of the Baileys were more Indian than white, of the 19 siblings that came to America from Ireland most went to Kentucky, but pretty much sqattered all over the usa. Many were forced off their lands and moved to reservations. We have a web site any one can visit it is easy to access.

agatz99.tribalpages.com
the pass word is native
Please visit if you like we are still a work in progress.
God Bless
Geneva Ann Bailey

Baily/Douglas/Dugger TN Connection

Our great-grandfather, Charles Alexander Douglas (aka Charlie) 1877-1953, was taken in, or adopted by a man named Hugh Douglas around 1880-82. We are searching for descendents of Charles’ brother/half-brother John Baily, hoping to learn more about their family. We have very little information about the Douglas/Baily connection. All photos of John Baily have the last name spelled BAILY. All of the early photos (teens and early twenties) of Charles Douglas also have the name Charles DUGGER written on the back. As you can imagine this has caused great confusion.

Charles was born and raised in Tennessee and came to Texas in the early 1900s. He married our great-grandmother, Pearl McClure, and after her death in 1945, returned to Tennessee and married his foster/adopted cousin Ina Douglas, a school teacher. Charles is buried in Fort Worth, next to our great- grandmother Pearl, but we are uncertain as to where Ina is buried, but most likely in Tennessee.

Any information about the possible Douglas/Dugger/Baily connection would be greatly appreciated.
I am in possession of a bible that was presented to Eugene A. Baily by his sister Susie L. Baily and would be willing to give it up to the right party. This bible has Eugene A. Baily on the front cover and an inscription of presentation dated April 1884 on the flyleaf. The bible is in good condition for its age but is very fragile. The binding is tearing away from the book. There is no family genealogy material in the book except the afore mentioned. Please contact me if you are interested in this bible.

I look forward to hearing from you
Evelynlindsay@sbcglobal.net

Seeking the parents of Doracy Baily or Bailey, born on July 28, 1789, probably in Sussex Co., Delaware, who died attempting to give birth to her ninth child on April 28, 1825, and is buried with her husband in the Cedar Grove Cemetery in Perry Township, Pickaway Co., Ohio.

Her parents were probably George and Nancy Baily, who moved to Pickaway Co. from Delaware about 1807. I believe that she was their daughter who was mistakenly identified as "Elizabeth" in a descendent's subsequently-written family-bible record.

About 1808 Doracy married Isaac Jones (1783-1849) in Pickaway Co. They had eight surviving children: Anna B. (born 1809 who married Henry "Harry" Graham), Thomas F. (born 1811 who married Lydia Bohrer), James (born 1813 who married Sarah White), William B. (born 1815 who married a Martha Jane), Isaac Jr. (born 1817 who married Louisa Jane Upperman and Unity Graham, sister of Harry), Purnell (1819-1839), Mary D. (born 1821 who married John W. Smith), and Sarah Elizabeth B. (born 1823 who married James Graham, brother of Harry and Unity).

Emily Catherine Bailey, one of ten daughters of Dwelley J Bailey and Anna Smith, was born 24 September, 1868 in Fulton County, Indiana.

According to the Tombaughs of Fulton County,, Dwelley Bailey was a son of Jeremiah Bailey; grandson of Richard Bailey of Onondago County NY; great grandson of Clark Bailey of Berkshire County, MA; and a great great grandson of Richard Bailey, who came to Massachusetts Bay Colony from England on or about 1638.

Anna Smith was a daughter of Peter Smith and Elizabeth Lehr. She was born 12 January, 1950 in Scott Township, Kosciusko County, Indiana. Her father died before she was born, and her mother died when she was four years. old.

Peter Smith was born in Germany in about 1816. He was probably the son of Lewis and Ann Marie Smith, who came to America in 1837. Elizabeth was a daughter of Samuel Lehr. She was born in Pennsylvania in May 1812.

As a followup to the above query: In the 1820 Census for Beaver Twp., Guernsey Co., Ohio the family fo Stephen and Mary (Baily) Hall are listed in close proximity to the families of Jesse Hall (next line on the census form) and Henry Baily. Also on the same page are the families of Isaac Hall and John Hall. Any information on how these familes are interconnected would be appreciated.
