Minnie (Martha?) BAKER - Marshall Co./Talladega Co. AL/Bibb Co., GA

I'm currently looking for info regarding my great-great grandmother, Minnie (middle name was possibly "Martha") BAKER, b. 18 Apr 1885 in Marshall Co., AL/d. 29 Jan 1966 in Macon, Bibb Co., GA. She married 11 Mar 1900 in Shelby Co., AL to Benjamin Franklin CALDWELL, b. 20 May 1881 in Dadeville, Tallapoosa Co., AL. I'm not sure when or where he died. They had one surviving daughter, Bessie Mae CALDWELL. Minnie is listed with Benjamin in the 1900 Shelby Co., AL Census, and again with their daughter Bessie in the 1920 Talladega Co., AL Census. The only thing my family and I know about her ancestry was that she was part-Creek Indian, and one of her ancestors (father, maybe?) wore a tall hat with which he kept his money in. Any and all help is appreciated.

Parents of Zebediah BAKER of OHIO

I'm trying to find proof of the parentage of Zebediah BAKER who was born before 1755 and married Cassandra (?). Some believe he is the son of Zebediah and Keturah PETTICOAT BAKER and born @1745. Others believe he is the Grandson of this couple through their son Morris and his wife Elizabeth DORSEY BAKER and born @1750. Need proof one way or the other. Zebediah lived in Harrison Co. OH in 1811 when they are lised as one of the founding families of the Bethel Methodist Church in Green Twp., Harrison Co.,OH. Zebediah had a son named Zachariah (1771-1841) with whom he lived in Archer Twp.Harrison Co.,Ohio. There is another BAKER who lived in the area, Otho (1781-1855) who attended the Bethel Church and lived only a mile from Zachariah. Could this be another son of Zebediah?
Thanks
T.D. BAKER
My great grandfather was Thomas Monroe Baker. His wife was Stella McCoy Baker. They lived in Cherokee, NC and later Gaston, NC. I have records showing he worked for a shipbuilding company during WWI in Wilmington, DE. Thomas Baker was born in 1874. After that, I am not really sure, looking for anything. Also found a Thomas Monroe Baker that was building ships in Newark, NJ during WWII. This Thomas Baker had a different birthday and led me to believe that he may have been a son. Anyway, anything anybody has would be greatly appreciated.

Cumberland County Pennsylvania Bakers

My reseach of the lineage of my grandfather Samuel Albert Baker b.1908 & d.1971 has led me to Michael Baker b.1813 & d.1890. My entire lineage is concentrated in Cumberland County, PA and in particular South Middleton and Monroe Towships and the communities of Mt. Holly Springs and Boiling Springs. My 'brick wall' of several years now has been positively identifying Michael's parents. The 1880 Census indicates that they too were born in PA. I have several possibilities, but no confirmation. If there is anyone researching this same lineage or other Baker's in Cumberland County, PA I would be delighted to collaborate. I have indexed over 500 Baker Census Records in Cumberland County and have many more records from other sources.

Baker - West Virginia

My grandfather's uncle was Andrew J. Baker. He supposedly had a sister Lottie Baker-my grandfather's mother who died when he was very young. I see in the 1910 census my grandfather who was going by the name John Riffle at the time was living with Andrew J. Baker and family. I can find no record of Lottie anywhere. She was married to George W. Riffle. I know some have her as Lottie Gillette, but my father always said her name was Lottie Baker. Am confused.

I am seeking information concerning Richard Baker (b. c1845) and his spouse Anne Connell (b. c1854, Durham Co., Ontario). He was son of William and Elizabeth Baker. She was daughter of William Connell and Frances Watt. They were married 25 Mar 1874 at Ballyduff, Manvers Twp., Durham Co., Ontario.

We believe they had the following children (all likely born in Durham Co.):
William W. (b. c1875); Richard Samuel (b. 7 Jun 1877; may have died same year); Frederick W. (b. c1879); Walter (b. c1881); Maude (b. c1884) and Etta (b. c1885)

I am also seeking any information related to those children and their descendents (birth, marriage, death and burial dates & locations; also occupations, etc.).

I am willing to share all of the considerable information which I currently have regarding the siblings and two generations of ancestors of Anne Connell.

In the Yellow Creek Township, Linn County Missouri 1870 Census there is a family, Axley Young HH 36 years , Susan Young 30 years, Andrew Baker 10, Robert Baker 8, Sarah Baker 3. Does anyone have any information on this family? Are these Baker children Susan's children by a previous marriage or are they just residing in the household? I haven't been able to find this Susan or this Axley after the 1870 census. If anyone has a connection to this family I would like to hear from you.
I am looking for information on Wiley F. Baker, who died in 1962 in, I believe, Indiana. His background consist of two families, as he was married twice and had several children by each marriage. He has KY and IN background. I know he lived in Logansport IN and also Wolf Co., KY. His first wife was Martha Bowman, do not know second wife name. First childen's names include: Robert F., Grace, Mary, Edward, Herman F., Frank, and Zorah. Some of his second family children were also named after his first family children. Anyone with info on Wiley or his families, please forward any information on to me and I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks! Suzanne Baker Findley

Trying to find William Alfred Baker

I am trying to find any information about
William Alfred Baker. He was born in Scotland
supposedly. He had 8 sons--three after they
settled in Tennessee and then 5 after they
moved to Texas. I know that he died in
Japonica (Hunt), Texas in 1889 but have no
other information. It is like he dropped off
the face of the earth. If you have information,
I would be extremely grateful.

Thanks
Stacie

I'm searching for information on a Susan Carr, who was married to James Carr living in Berlin, Rensselaer, NY in 1860. I believe Susan's surname is Baker. In 1850, she was living in Black Brook, Clinton, NY, married to Reuben Hammond, had 3 children, Hudson, Maria, and Chole. By 1855, she was married and living in Granville, Washington, NY married to Frederick Samuel Jones, and by 1860 was married to James Carr. In the 1860 census James and Susan were living in Berlin, Rensselaer, NY with Maria Hammond age 15, Samuel Jones, age 7, Augustus Jones, age 4 and a Mary Ann Carr age 12. By 1870, Susan was living in Rensselaer and was listed as Susan Green, living with her son, Hudson Hammond.

I'm searching for information on Stephen Baker, who lived in Jay, Essex, NY in 1800, 1810, married to Marcia Southmayd, and then moved to Riga/Wheatland, Genesee County, NY in 1820 - 1850, which later changed to Monroe County, NY. Stephen was a member of Belcoda Baptist Church in Wheatland, NY. I believed Stephen died in 1850, was at that time married to an Irene. Know of four of his children, Horace and Theron born around 1795, and two daughters Almira born around 1804, and Marcia or Marsha born around 1814. Also, in 1850 Caleb and Sidney Southmayd/Southmaid were living with him, his grandchildren.

I am looking for information on my husband's grandmother Lillian Baker Bennett. She was from Harrisburg, IL and was born sometime around 1909. Her first marriage was to Roy Bennett and they had 2 children: Roy Jr. and Laura. They moved to Saginaw, Michigan during the marriage.

They divorced sometime after 1926 and I know she married at least one more time. In fact, I believe her husband died from an accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound. I have not found anything on her in the database to date. Any information anyone has would be greatly appreciated.

Green Baker

I am researching a Green (Greenville) Baker. My last U.S. Census find for this person was in 1860, Washington County, Illinois. Listed was Green Baker, age 43, birthplace IL; Mary Baker, 32, IL; Ann E. Baker, 16, IL; W.C. Baker, 13 IL (My ancestor William Carrel); Mary E. Baker, 1 IL. Earlier records: Jan. 7, 1841 marriage entry of St. Clair County Il - Green Baker and Charity Land. May 8, 1852 guardianship letter of St. Clair County Il appointed Green Baker guardian of Anna L. Baker and William C. Baker, (Minor heirs of Charity Baker, formerly Land.) Green Baker was believed to be a Baptist Circuit Rider. His eldest daughter was Anna L. Baker and then William C. Baker. William Carrel ran away from home at the age of 15. William Carrel did have kind words for his stepmother, Mary. Mary and Green Baker had a daughter names Mary, and it believed there was later also a son named Stephen. Not only am I seeking to find additional information on Green Baker, but I shall share my findings on allied families: Land, Aaron born circa 1785 and Land, Moses born circa 1762 Halifax Co. VA

Wanted: Male descendant of Alexander Baker for DNA test

I am willing to pay the costs for a DNA test for any male Baker who can establish record descent from Alexander Baker who came to Boston from England in the Elizabeth and Ann in April 1635.

Alexander is known to have had many sons including Alexander b 1635, Samuel b 1637, John, b 1640, Joshua b 1642, William b 1647, Joseph b 1649, Benjamin b 1652 and Josiah b 1654.

The individual must be a male in direct father-to-son descent from Alexander and the record documentation must be reasonably good (this excludes those who claim descent from the Samuel Baker who married Elinor Winslow, as that Baker is NOT established as a son of Alexander).

The test itself involves only a cotton swab of the inside of the mouth -- no needles, no bloodwork. You'd have no costs yourself at all and you might help answer a LOT of Baker questions by having your results to compare to other Baker DNA results (see http://bakerdna.net/).

Just let me know!

-- jgr

Baker in Montana early 1920s

I'm looking for my grandmother’s real father. All I know is that his last time was Baker and that he had three daughters (Ruby - born 1923 in Livingston Montana, Jewel - born before 1923, and Pearl? - born before 1923). His wife died in childbirth and Baker gave his three small daughters up for adoption. Ruby was adopted by John and Berdie Powell. I don't know what happened to the other two girls.

Hi to all,

Am researching my GG Grandfather William Richard Joseph Baker who was born about 1828 possibly in Sydney Australia. William married Mary Ann Turnbull 4 Sep 1848 in Sydney. They seem to have had a number of children amongst them being my Great Grandmother Louisa Baker (b.1855) and Walter Charles Baker (b.1880) who was the youngest in the family. Would dearly love to get in contact with any relative who is researching the family and would also like to find out more about William and his forebears.

Kind regards,

Ken Veitch
Canberra, Australia
