My Grandfather Alex Ballan came to canada and settled in the Cupar, Dysart area in Saskatchewan Canada in 1912.
The rest of the family including my father Gabriel and family are still in canada mostly in Regina sask. The ony family member who did not come over was George Ballan as far as we know he sill has family in Rumania.

My fAMILY CAME FROM THE SATEL MARE REGION IN RUMANIA.
THEY CAME TO CANADA IN 1912 AND WE STILL RESIDE HERE.

My family is from Satul Mare Rumania was part of the A
austrian Hungarian Empire at the time of my grandfather and father.

My family came from satul mare rumania , my grandfather emmigrated to canada in 1912. My father came in 1920.
In canada we settled in the cupar,dysart region in saskatchewan canada.
There was one family member who did not come over.
His name was george Ballan,(Ballon) our name was changed when my father entered canada.

Do you know what city he was born in? My grandfather, Wasyl Bilan, was born in Jezupol, Ukraine. Do you have any other Bilans or Bilons in your tree?

We are looking for family history information of a Nicolas Bilan/Billon/? born 1896 in Poland
and may have lived in the Ukraine before coming to North America. His father is listed as John
and his mother as Pauline Jacoboski/Koboski/? He died in Richmond BC Canada in 1961. He
was married to a Nettie Sydorko/Sayko/Fedoruk/? Children include Michael, Olga, Walter and
Eleanor.

Believed they settled in Chicago for sometime and then headed to Winnipeg area in Canada.
Finally settled in Vancouver BC Canada in the mid 1940's.

Frank, I don't know if we are related or not. There's always strong possibly though. I know my great grandfather had a brother named Peter and his wife was Kate. They lived for a while with my Great Grandfather Michael and his wife Mary. I believe they along with several other Balons' moved to Springville NY. My Mom told me that the Balons' in Springville spell the name Ballon. They are related to us. I would not be surpised if we are related. Do you when your grandfather came to the US from Poland? My great grandfather came before the ellis island site was the only port of entry required. I know everyone was required to come through ellis island by 1892. I have looked on the new ellis island site and I have not found my great grandfather listed so I assume my great aunt was right. I am still trying to find his marriage license so I can get a better idea. I am also looking for naturalization records as they might give more ideas. By the was, is Freeland, PA? I was raised in Bradford PA just on the border of western NY, I don't recognize the name. Is it near Scranton? Thanks for your time. Hello:
My Grandfather, Frank Balon, migrated from Poland in the late 19th century. I believe that he had a brother Michael who came to Pennsylvania sometime later. Frank settled in a small mining town in Northeast Pa. named Freeland. There he opened a bar and boarding house. My Father Stanley, who was born in 1919, took over this buisness after returning home from WW2. Stanley is the youngest of 6 children. I was born in 1960 and still live in the same building that my Grandfather started the bar in. The bar no longer exists.

My great grandfather Michael Balon came from the area of Galicya, Poland in the 1890's. His brother Peter also came. Michael took up residence in Pennsylvania. He worked for the BRP railroad in Bingham, Mckean County, PA. I understand that his brother Peter went to Springfield, NY. An hour or so outside of Buffalo. I am trying to find those who might be related. Thanks
