My husband is gr gr grandson of Ansel Bowen. His gr grandfather was Francis Lippo, his grandfather, Thomas Victor and his father Darrell. I have hit a dead end on everything I have tried to find out about his mother, Margaret other than on some of the censuses, she lists her birthplace as VA and on others as NC. I didn't know about the names Bowden or Banner. Will continue to search.

My name is Diane Renee Banner. My dad was Robert A. Banner who's dad was Roy Banner & Roy's wife was a Williams before she married Roy. My dad had 7 brothers & 3 sisters. Only one of them living now. Frank Banner. Dad was in WW11 and the Korean war. I have 2 brothers and 1 sister. I got this Post from a Robert Banner, who I am related to I'm sure. He says most us Banners if not all are related some how. I have a picture of over 100 years ago that was my dads. A lot of war pictures that were his, and a jacket. His flying books he learned from I suppose. He didn't talk much about his life before he married Mom. Only if u asked him. And he would tell you. He taught me to say what was on mind & take up for myself. And showed me how to take up for myself. I was born fighting mom said, came out elbow first and been fighting ever since. Intimidation was not in his vocabulary. Best dad you could ever have. I would like more info. on the Banner family history, and could help you with the parts I know about what I know. When I was growing up in Irving, Tx. (it was a small country town then)
The people around here called all my uncles & my dad the Banner brothers. A tough bunch. Most of whom were in the military and then married and had families, who had families, who had families & so on.I am 52 yrs.Mom is 80 and dad (my best friend, died in 1992 of cancer.

Banners of New Jersey

My name is Kyle W. Banner, and after taking a trip to my state capital at Trenton, I have been able to verify my ancestry as recorded in a family Bible. I am, however, stuck at 1823 with the birth of William Banner; in various census records he states his parents were born in New Jersey but he does not give their names. On his death certificate, his parents are listed as "John and Anna". The only John and Anna Banner I can find were married in Pompton Plains Dutch Reformed Church, NJ, in 1814. Their ages seem to be right and if this is the only information I have, after exhaustive research, do I go with it? There are also Banners in the records of the Dutch Reformed Church of Bergen County who could be related.

If anyone has information on the Banner family of New Jersey, I'd appreciate any help.

Dear Charles,

I'm responding to your post regarding another user's question about the Banner family. I, too, am a Banner from New Jersey. I can trace my ancestry back to William R. Banner (born 1823), it seems as though father was John and his mother was Anna (Sanders), married at Pompton Plains, NJ in 1814. I believe she was his second wife. I say it "seems" as though these were my William Banner's parents because on his death certificate he lists their names and the ages/marriage year seems accurate.

I was wondering if you had any more information on these Banners. Any help would be appreciated.

Yours,

Kyle W. Banner

Sorry it's been so long. I had a long time I quit researching and just started again. I have some information on the Banners, not as much as I'm sure is out there. I do have more on the Barnes. My Mom was Mary Ann Barnes married to Charles Abraham Banner son of Charles W Banner and Mildred Jane Howe Banner. My grandmother on the Barnes side was Leola Mae Cady Barnes and Hart Barnes. my Great Grandmother was Sarah Anna Peck Cady and great grandfather was Seymour Cady who died in 1901 in a farm accident and she remarried to Devine John I believe. My grandmother Leola Mae Barnes died in 1966 of Cancer and my grandfather was Hart did late 70's early 80's as I was about 10ish. I remember thim so well and have tons of pictures of them and the Barnes family with names and dates. if still interested just let me know

I have always heard that, for a brief period, my grandmother (Delphine Palmatier) left my grandfather and got remarried to a preacher and lived in Johnson City, TN. According to the 1930 census her name was Delphine Banner; and my uncle's name was Alvin P. Banner. They were living with her brother in Johnson City, Washington County, TN. Does anyone out there have any information about this? My parents have recently moved to TN and would like to find out more about this period of my grandmother's life. I have been unable to find out anything.

Hi, I'm new to ancestry.com, my name is Chris Banner. I'm absolutely excited to learn about my family history. The furthest back I know of is my great grandparents that lived in North Carolina, in the Greensboro area.

Can anyone tell me anything about whether or not we have a decent percentage of Irish immigrants in our history? It would explain my infatuation with their culture.. :-)

Anyway, nice to meet all of you, feel free to look me up on Facebook or something...not really sure if that's how this works... :)

Looking for proof of John Banner's date and place of birth in England, information about his parents/siblings, his marriage to Mary [perhaps "Mary Squiers"] and his immigration to Ontario, Canada. He was born circa 1811 or 1812 in England; and he died 27 Jan 1897 in Ontario, Canada. He farmed in Whitby Township near Brooklin, Ontario from the early to the late 1800's.

The 1851 Census, Canada West lists his wife, Mary, and the other household members as Caroline, John, Esther, Ann, Jemina, Eliza, Thos [spelling? maybe for Thomas] and Wm [probably William].

The Census of 1871, Whitby West, Ontario, Canada lists him as widowed and the other household members as Eliza J., Thomas, Henry, Emma, Rachel, Tildy [Tildon or Tilden] and Rebecca.

My ancestors are his son, Henry Banner and his grandson, Frank Clayton Banner.
Thomas married Jane and had Henry James Banner who is the father of my grandfather, Henry James Thomas Banner. They all seem to hail from birmingham and James Banner seems to be the only one who escaped! I'm now in London myself so would be interested in hearing what brought James down here
