I am a Barbier from New Orleans. Plus, the Barbier side of me comes half from France. I don't know anything about Xavier Bienvenu Barbier or anything. But I might just be in this family your talking about.

I can't seem to find any info on Leroy or Frances Barber. Here's what I know from my grandmother: Leroy was from France or his parents were. In France the family was considered to be outcast, don't know why. It could be because they may have been Jewish. Their kids are all still alive; Winifred, George, Wilfred, Elizabeth, Adelaide, and Mary. Mary is my grandmother.

George William Barbier - Actor

I am trying to get some additional information in regards to George above.

I have my family history information (handwritten from many generations back) - saying that he was related. But when I compare the parents that I have - to the parents in his biography / birth certificate - it is different.

So I am thinking that he is a cousin / nephew in the relations.

Can anyone tell me if they have him within their tree - and tell me what his siblings names were?

He was born 11/19/1864 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA, died July 19, 1945 Los Angeles, California. His wife was an actress named Caroline (Carrie) L Thatcher - b 6/1870 Pennsylvania.

I have information on Xavier Bienvenu Barbier who married Aimee Adeline Landry. Daughter, Cecile Theresa, married Luke Leon Simoneaux. Their son, Jules Edward Simoneaux married Nettie Marie Picou. Sorry, netali, no connection - my mother's family (Barbier) were in Australia. Her parent's Marriage Certificate lists both their birthplace as "South Melbourne" (Australia). Her father's name was Alphonse Barbier, we think from Alsace, & we reckon that he probably was a deserter from a ship.

Hi, I am looking for information on a Charles P. Barbier, who married into the Yankton Sioux tribe in South Dakota. He is my ancestor and was born in France in 1833 (according to various sources either Besancon or Abbeville). He was Protestant and claimed to have survived a massacre of Protestants in his village and then his family moved to Paris. He was accompanied to America by two siblings including one sister named Louise. His father served in Napoleon's army (so it is said in our family stories) and could not follow his son to America because he would lose his army pension.

Thanks for posting that. I didn't realize that my great-great aunt Louise Moran had taken care of her father. I always thought it was her sister Sophie. I'll have to ask about the daughter Marie. I know there was a Moran niece who inherited Danny Moran's vast collection of Native American artifacts (it kinda took over the house) and donated it to the Sioux Indian Museum and the collection is listed under her name. I'll check to see if that is her.

He came from France (possibly Paris) and married Alisha O'Shee of Ireland in possibly the village of Kilkenny.. He was born aprox 1831and may have also had a given name of Americus. Does anyone have any information regarding Louise Barbier? Louise allegedly came to the US from Paris via New Orleans in the late 1800s. She married Richard Van Loo from Gent, Belgium. I have an email from a lady who has been helping me with my family history on the Barbie's. In the email it says
Barbar Kottak--maiden name born 1890 living in the same house had Peter Barbier who was born in 1872. I believe that this was in Ernsthausen or Klek, Hungary.

My Great-grandfather Johann and family came to the USA in 1898 from port of Hamburg to Baltimore, MD. He was born in Ostern, and lived in Ernsthausen, Hungary. They homesteaded in North Dakota. Does anything here tie in with your info? It's unknown to me if he had any brothers or cousins.
