My name is Raymond Barker and I am 81 years old. I was born in Newcastle upon Tyne in 1931 but have lived in Kent since 1935.
I come from a long line of John Barker's and have traced them back to the 18th Century. Most of them appear to be to have been employed in the pottery industry.
I am always looking to further my research into my family history so if you have any contacts with Barker's from Newcastle I would love to hear about them.

Greetings! I am a descendant of Stephen Ellison Barker of New York. Don't hold this against him, but he fought against the British and was present at the Surrender of Lord Cornwallis. Sadly, although I know the date of his birth, he seems to have had no parents...Do YOU happen to know who his parents were? Many of us who have been tracing him would sing praises to your very name if you had that information. Welcome to the Forum...it's a lot of fun.

Don't know if you are still looking for info but my mam was Marjorie Barker daughter of the Arthur Barker, she was born at Cragg Hall Farm, Thwaites. Her sisters included Annie, Violet, Sarah and those still alive today are Dolly, Gertrude and Phylis. I would happily give more details. I would be particularly interested in info on Tamar as
whilst researching my tree I had drawn a blank on further info, pleased to get a married surname. Apparently she was never mentioned by the family much ?

I'm researching my Barker ancestry and have hit a brick wall. My great grandfather is Frank Barker. I believe he was born in Brookhouse, Yorkshire. He emigrated to New Zealand in 1863 and enlisted in the Otago Regiment. He married Rebecca Drabble in June 1873. Any leads would be greatly appreciated.

I'm a Barker too, living in North Wales now, but originally from Rochdale, Lancashire and a descendant of the Barker family from Halifax/sheffied, Yorkshire.
I bet it seems ages since you first posted your message on ancestry, you're now a young man of 26! Hope you're still keeping up with the family tree search.

There is a possibility that the census result has not been transcribed either being missed by mistake or through damage to the article rendering it un-transcribable. However, there is also a possibility that it has been transcribed wrong. I have come across many of my records where the names have been wrong and sometimes even the ages. Try looking for other members of the family group or try with just the surname/age/place of birth. It can sometimes take quite a bit of detective work but usually you get there in the end. I was looking for the Moss family but hitting brick walls everywhere. I finally found them using just christian names/dob etc. The reason it was hard was because they had changed their name to Whitemoss! I found them in the end though!!. Don't give up just yet. Try having a break and follow another line in your tree. Coming back to it with a fresh view sometimes makes a difference. If I get chance, I'll try and investigate and see if I can come up with anything for you. Good luck with your search. Best wishes, Sarah

I am assuming you are a descendant of Sophia and Nehemiah. My husband is a decsendent. His great grandmother was Charlotte Sharman who was married to George Smith. I only have sketchy information about Sophia and Nehemiah before their arrival in NSW. Anything would be appreciated.

My husband is also Larry, but the twin Larry, is Larry Edward Barker Nov 16 1943- and his wife Glenda Geraldine Barker April 10 1944. They have 5 children. One of them is Larry James Barker Sr, who is the father of my husband Larry James Barker Jr.

I just noticed that one respondent said Mary Jane, a daughter, married Elam Fenn. Elam Fenn is a decedent of mine and is considered a founder of Fennville. He had a saw mill (Fenn's mill) and when the railroad went through the settlement the map maker for the railroad reportedly put "Fennville" on the map. The Crane family in Fennville note him as a decendent and have the stained glass window with his name on it from the old Methodist church. It is on display at Crane's Pie Pantry Restaurant just west of the cemetery. I am not sure where he and Mary Jane are buried.

Willis Barker is buried in the Hutchins Cemetery about 1 mile west of Fennville in Allegan County on the south side of M-89. It is an old cemetery that is next to my house, formerly the Hutchins home. I just happened to notice his grave marker when doing spring cleanup in my garden. The grave is in the northwest corner near the pine trees. The marker states 1811-1872. I believe there are other Barkers there as well.

Hi, I am looking for solid evidence that there was a woman named America Barker (b. 1839) whose husband was Walter Scott Barker. Her father was Burwell Barker (1815 - after 1857), a son of Joseph H Barker 1778-1957). America's 2 sons were John Cephas Barker (1861-1947, died in Eden, NC) and Lee Franklin Barker (1856-1928, died in Eden, NC). They were all from Henry County, VA.

However, I cannot find America, Walter, John (maybe), or Lee in the 1860 or 1870 census. I found America at age 11 living with Burwell in the 1850 census and that's it. I also found America and Scott Barker listed on the Death Certificate for Lee Franklin Barker.

So could that family have been skipped?

So, I'm Tara, Loretta and Paul Koffler's Grand Daughter. You've actually cleared up a big thing for me which is the spelling of "Searle".

Sorry, I don't know. Cypress Hills can only provide the date if burial. You might find him at Italian Genealogy Group website. I've found some of the Barkers there. His date of death is probably a day or two earlier than date of burial, so that would make it about 5/14/1939. Good luck.

Many of my Barkers are buried in Cypress Hills Cemetery in Brooklyn in plots owned by John and Gilbert Barker and John Curran. There is a William C. Barker buried 5/16/1939. I don't know who he is--I don't know most of them! The other names in these plots are Kappely, Smith, Cochrane, Lawn, Meyer, Lane and Meinechi. Hope this helps.

I'm not sure. I am still in the trenches trying to figure out where the Barker's on my side came from. I have a Patrick Barker born in Brooklyn, NY. He had 11 children. My father was one (John). Patrick's father was William. I cannot determine if PAtrick had any siblings (presently).

Barker who died in 1964 and are both buried in Cypress Hill Cemetery, Kings Cty.,NY? If yes, they are buried in the plot owned by either my g-grandfather, Gilbert H. My g and g-g grandfather were named Gilbert H. Barker. They were born in 1841 and 1820. Gilbert H.(1841) was married to Elizabeth S. Curran. They both lived in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, NY. Their father was John Barker. He was born in Conn. and died in 1868. Any connection to you?

I have a picture of Charles Cox the SON of David Cox. My Cox lineage runs thru Turkey Cove, Va. From the picture, David looks dark, but I doubt the Indian heritage.
