My Barnes Line is from Bedford County, PA. Archibald Barnes b. 1829 d. 1908 in PA - married Mary Ann Mills from same area b. 1836 d. 1900 .. their children were: 1. Sarah V (possibly Lanny Virginia) 2. Nelson Edward 3. LouEmma 4. Isaiah Calvin 5. Danfort/Danford Barton 6. Mahala 7. Clara B. 8. Mary Alforato 9. John W. 10. Charles H. and 11. Franklin all last name of Barnes. My line, Danford, moved to Thomas, Fairfax District, WV, USA abt 1900 where it shows up on Census. All of this information I have proof of for my line.

If you have information that can prove or disprove the following:

*apparently, my ancestor, this Archibald Barnes, his father might be the James Barnes from England who settled in Barnes Gap, Ray Hill near Baltimore, MD. The records look pretty close. If this is the case, Archibald's parents are Abel (Ebel? in some MD census spellings?)and Mary Pool Barnes of MD, and James Barnes is Archibald's grandfather, who, along with Archibald's aunts and uncles (not father) all went to Nelson County, KY. Previously I thought that Archibald's parents were Abel and Sarah Poole Barnes & grandparents were John and Hanna Root Barnes; all being of Connecticut.
