Charlie Barnet - b. 1913, Big Band Leader

I am trying to locate any info on Charlie Barnet who was the big band leader. I grew up being told by my great-grandmother that he was her nephew. Unfortunately she is passed several years now and I am unable to locate any info on him. I found a Bio that said he was born Oct 26, 1913 in NY and Died on Sept 09, 1991 in CA. I have tried to search his birth and have come up with no records at all. My greatgrandmother said he changed the spelling of the name which could very well be possible. Is there anyone out there that could help me in this matter? Dolly Taylor sdtaylor@mvtel.net

Besides Mary and Andrew, Rachel had another son, Michael Bunstein who married Mary Ann Frankenfield.

I would be happy to send you what I have on this line, although I haven't documentation for everything. It is rather extensive, and I would prefer to mail it, rather than send it as a file, depending on how much you want. Rachel Walter was my 3rd Great-grandmother through:
Rachel Walter m.
Barnett, Ballant, Burhardt, Bernhardt...?

I'm having difficulty tracing the family history of my great-grandmother Eva Lesser, who died in 1940. Lesser was her married name. Her maiden name is listed variously on official documents as Barnett, Ballant, and Burhardt. I think my grandmother also cited the name Bernhardt. While researching the family of Eva's sister Ida (the only sibling I know of), I discovered a Russian family with the name of Brandman living in the same tenement building, and wonder if that's a possibility, too.

Census records only tell me that Eva and Ida came from "Russia." Unfortunately, Eva never became a naturalized citizen, so I don't access to any other information about where she came from. Any suggestions? I feel like I have reached a dead end on this particular ancestor.

So, if you may, please- explain to me the difference you see between a Patriot a Soldier of 1775. Maybe, I can then get further back..My Moses was an old farmer,
a Minute Man, if you will, that picked up his long barrel and fought from the woods at the Battle of Bennington (NY-Walloomsac). His beginning is said to be in Conn.
As a US Army Soldier US Marine, I would be interested in your definition of Patriot?

Lisa,

In my search of records of Barnets in Franklin County, Pennsylvania, I have seen reference to a Moses Barnet and his wife Isabel. The lived in the area in the late 1700's. I have not traced them, since I didn't find a connection yet with my gggg grandmother, Catherine Barnet. I have read their wills, however, which are available at the county courthouse.

I have also seen the names of Jacob and Thomas Barnet in Franklin County in 1754 as well as other Barnets. They were listed on tax records of the time as well as Militia lists. Other information on the Barnets in this area are scarce. I am interested in this Thomas, since he could be the father of my gggg grandmother.

Hope this information is of some help. Let me know if you find any connections.

Sincerely,
Bud McCutcheon

I actually have very little. I know my gggg grandparents, Samuel McCutcheon and Catherine Barnet lived in Franklin County, Pennsylvania in the late 1700s. When I was out there last summer, I went looking for the Barnet name to see where they came from. In the militia records and tax records of 1751 and 1754, I found the names of Thomas, Sr., Thomas, Jr., Jacob, James and another male I can't recall. Since my gggg grandmother Catherine was born sometime between 1725 and 1736 and married in 1751, I am focussing on Thomas, Sr. as the most likely candidate to be her father. However, there is limited information on the Barnets in the area.

I came across Catherine's brother Paul's will when I looked at the county records. This is were I also saw Moses' and Isabel's wills. In Paul's will, he identifies his children as James, Mary, Martha, Rachel, William, David and Joseph. Mary married Alexander Baggs(sp?), Martha married a Stewart [no jokes please..] and Rachel married a Brown. James had a son Ephraim, and William had children John and Rachel. Moses' and Isabel's wills didn't list any descendents, with Isabel making a special point to chastise her relations for not taking care of her in her old age.

This is the extent of what I know.

Bud
