Found this thread whilst researching my own tree. Sorry to resurrect a three year old thread but hopefully some information will be useful to you.

The Charity Bashton, Mother aged 65 in the 1881 census is Thomas Henry Bashton's mother. His father, also called Thomas Henry Bashton died on January 25 1862, so this could be the same Charity Bashton (born Temby) who has re-married.

Thomas Henry Bashton you mention in the 1881 census also had a sister called Charity but she was born in 1854.

Sunderland Registrars record the marriage, in 1863, of William Retallick and Charity Bashton in Sunderland, County Durham, England.(search the index free: http://www.sunderland.gov.uk/pages/registrars/resultspage.as...)

The 1861 UK Census shows a William Retallack living with his sons and daughter, but minus a wife; is this the William Retallick who married Charity and who were Charity`s parents?

RETALLICK Henry Son, aged 19, Coal Miner, born Cornwall - -.
RETALLICK Elizabeth Dau, aged 5, born Co. Durham - Monkwearmouth.
RETALLICK George Son, aged 1, born Co. Durham - Dalton.

A family named Bashton lived in the area in 1881 as recorded below. Bashton being something of an unusual name in these parts, I feel they must be related to the Charity that I seek.

Address: 41, Colliery Square, Monkwearmouth, Sunderland, County Durham, England

Thomas BASHTON, Head, aged 31, born Sikes, Durham, England. Occ: Coal Hewer (Miner).
Jane BASHTON, Wife, aged 21, born Newfield, Durham, England.Occ: Coal Hewer Wife.
Jane Ann BASHTON, Daur, aged 1, born Monkwearmouth, Durham, England.
Charity BASHTON, Mother, aged65, born Cambern, Cornwall, England.

Bashtons in the USA

I am currently researching the Bashton family and have references going back to 1561. I would be very grateful for any information that you may have for Bashtons in the US as this is rather difficult to obtain in the UK.

I have a family tree going back to the early 18th Century, which includes Benjamin Bashtons passage to the US, and will gladly share this with you.

I am trying to locate information on Benjamin Dean Bashton. Born in Chicago about 1928. His parents were Cecil Shores & Benjamin Proctor Bashton. He is my grandfather & has been missing since 1956. Our family knows nothing at all about our relatives.Would like some family history.

Hi just noticed your interest in Benjamin & Elizabeth Bashton.
My grand parents were called Benjamin and Elizabeth Bashton but did not move to America. My grand father was killed in the 1st world war and my grand mother went on to remarie, staying on Tyneside England. As my grand father was very young when he died in the 1st world war it may have been that he was in sum way related to the people you are trying to locate. I hope this is of some interest to you.
