Hi, hopefully you are still researching the family tree. I can confirm that Sarah Poyle BATCHELOR is indeed the sister of Thomas Poyle BATCHELOR. Where the middle name of "Poyle" has come from is anyone guess as I haven't been able to find the source of this yet, I think it may be female's maiden name but not entirely sure on this matter.

Best regards,

Andy

Archibald Batchelor

Hi. I am seeking information on Archibald Batchelor born around 1803 and lived in Dundee. He married Mary Morrison and they had a son David Scott Batchelor who emigrated to Australia. I believe that Archibald's father was a Ninion Batchelor (B: abt1780) but have found nothing on him or who he married. I know there were a couple of Ninion's about, but none seem to be him. Any info would be much appreciated.

Batchelor/Wacker Family

Hi - I recently went to visit my great-grandfather, Samuel E. Batchelor's grave at Evergreen Cemetery in Brooklyn, NY. While there, I obtained a list of all members buried in the plot. Imagine my surprise when Caroline and Henry F Wacker were buried in the Batchelor family plot. I've never heard these names mentioned in connection to this part of my family before. I have no idea how they might be related.

The plot belonged to Samuel Batchelor and Carline Wacker. Lot No#1116.

Listed as interred at this site are:
C. Batcheldor (Batchelor) Buried Feb 2, 1924
H. S. Batchelor (possibly S. H.) Buried Feb 14 1929
S. Batchelor Buried June 16 1930 (my g-grandfather)
W. H. Bachelor Buried: June 21, 1933
Henry F. Wacker Buried: May 17 1948
Caroline Wacker Buried: May 29, 1976 at 90 years old.

If I found the right Caroline Wacker, she lived in Merrick, NY here on LI according to her SS card on record.

From the 1930 US Census, Henry F Wacker, Caroline Wacker and William Batchelor are listed as members of the same household. I think William is listed as a brother-in-law. William did not have a Caroline as a sister (Eveline Batchelor was his sister's name) nor do I have any records of his marriage to anyone.

If any of this rings a bell with anyone, please email me - mrsebarry@hotmail.com. I would love to solve the family connection mystery.

Thank you.

Could this be your guy, Iknew I'd seen it somewhere:
"William Bachelor/Batchelor, Richard Berry and John Biggs were arrested and punished in Buckinghamshire, England in 1648 for being Quakers. All appeared in MD and VA colonies late that year. It's assumed that they either were deported or fled for religious reasons.William named his son Richard (for his friend Richard Berry) and Richard named his son William. Richard married daughter of John Biggs - Ann Biggs.William arrived in VA on 12-21-1648 on the north side of the Yorke River.Richard sailed from Bristol England on 8-27-1661 at approximately 16 yrs of age. He had signed a contract as an indentured servant to a William Dunning of VA. Doesn't it make you mad when people never wrote on the backs of photos date, people, places etc... I write on all my photos these days. I guess it will never be known for 100 percent sure just who this couple really is unless one day a photo in the Mercury or such like newspaper can confirm for us trying so hard to figure out who is who.

Jude

Hi Thanks for your photo id. Several people have confirmed this as James Lovell and his wife Caroline. I am fairly certain this is the case. The one confusing factor is that on the back of the photo is the name Uncle James Lovell. However I have had so many people tell me that it is James Batcherlor that I have decided that there must be another reason for the name to be written there. Can I ask how you know who this is?

Unfortunately, I don't think we have a connnection.

Samuel Henry Batchelor (born in Worcester, England) is there father. He came over to America in either 1880 or 1882. All three of his children, William Henry, Samuel Edward, and Eveline were born here in NY during the 1880s/1890s.
