My grandmother was Mary Bateman B.9/5/1875. Married to John Blucas Benton. Mary's father was Lorenzo Dow Bateman born 1818 married to Gabriella Gibson. Lorenzo's father was Benjamin Bateman born 1792 died 1852 No name of wife.
Looking for connection to any Bateman served in Civil War.

We have been looking for information for her also. Her son was Oscar Thomas Whisnant (Wilfred/Wilford Thomas Scott, after he changed his name in the 1910s), and his eldest daughter was named Zelpha. My grandmother (Ada Lucille, another of his daughters) had always said "Zelpha" came from their mother's side, but of late we've wondered if it wasn't from William's wife instead. Regardless, we've found no other information so hence our looking as well. William Whisnant was quite old when he was married to "Zilpha/Sylpha" and apparently she died before William.

Well I'm sorry that it's taken me so long to reply but I believe that one of their son's was Earl and he married Essie Faught, and they had three children, Wayne, Virgie and Floyd my dad. Hi one of my great great grandparents was William Bateman who married Rose Mary McInerney (b. 1879/Lancelot Queensland Australia d. 5, March 1947. There children were Lydia Ann Bateman (B. 1906/Sydney d.1981/Melbourne)and Mary Laura Bateman. I've traced back to Rose's grandparents but have nothing on the Bateman's side.

I don't believe your James is a child of John and Mary. The information that I have on their second James is that his wife's name was Jane last name unknown and they had three children, James, Thomas and Jane.

BATEMAN Sarah Frances and Charles - Dublin and/or Co Cork

Am seeking information about either Sarah Frances BATEMAN or her father Charles L (or J) BATEMAN.

All I know is that Sarah married John William Washington NASON in Monkstown, Dublin in 1871. He died in 1876 and she is said to have later married a clerical cousin in Lancashire. She died in 1885 - presumably in Lancashire, but maybe Ireland. Her two daughters returned to Dublin to live with grandparents (I do not know which ones).

According to the marriage certificate, Sarah' father was Charles L. (or J.) BATEMAN, Esq. I have no profession or address other than Kingstown, but there is a Charles James Bateman in the 1901 Dublin census - might be his son? This Charles is a Civil Servant and was born in County Cork.

There are a few Charles BATEMANS in County Cork, but I have no idea whether any of them are relevant.

Hoping somebody out there has some answers.

Allen Mclain[sp.] in Williamson Co. c 1805.) My GG Grandmother was Mary H. (Bateman)Ragan (1817- after 1900) born in Williamson Co. Married James H. Ragan in Williamson Co. Dec. 1840. My Grandmother was born Mary Naomi Reagan near Gatlinburg, TN in 1876.

John Bateman, married Elizabeth Cocklin in Marblehead, MA in 1760, after returning from service in Quebec in the French and Indian War. He died between 1765 and August 1766 when his papers of Administration were filed. His wife then married Alexander Long.

I am seeking the origins of John Bateman and his wife Elizabeth Cocklin. I know that John Bateman is NOT the same person as John Viscount 2nd Bateman (John Cupid Bateman). The later lived in England, did not serve in the French and Indian War, had no children and died in 1802. If you have information on MY John Bateman discussed above, I would greatly appreciate it. I don't know who were the parents. He was born after both Nancy and Ingram was married but in 1900 census it states that neither one had children born.

You should order his SS application to see who he listed as parents. If he listed Nancy and Asa Thomas because they raised him that doesn't seem to be accurate. Maybe he's Pinkney's but the unwed mom died? I'm grasping at straws. Order the application to see what it says. Let me know what you find out. Maybe a ydna test might be necessary if you have a direct line male with a surname of Bateman relative related to John F.

I can't connect the family in NC to my great grandfather John Frenchman Bateman born in 1876, Ingrim Bateman lived next door to him and was in his 50's. I haven't come across any Washington in the family yet. If I do i will keep you updated. NC was full of Bateman's, Im sure if they were from Tyrell Co. they are probably connected in some way. My problem is so many were named John including my Grandfather. My own father is 86 yrs. and I know from him they came from NC originally but spread out as far as Texas and Missouri. Keep in contact. By the way try looking up Ebenzer Bateman 1810, very interesting!

I am seeking information on John Bateman and Mary Sandford living in Askham, Westmorland, England between 1785 and 1820. Children were Ann, John, William, Sarah, Oliver, James (died at 2 yrs), Thomas, James, Miles and Joseph. The children's births and christenings are listed in the Askham Parish Record Book.

This is a little late, but none the less interesting, at least to me.
Your Caleb Bell Bateman was my great grand father.
One of his daughters, Rosa was my grand mother.
He had 7 children, 5 girls and 2 boys.
Yes they are all buried in a cemetary at Sterling Ontario.

I found several old photos among my grandfathers belongings that had the names Mary Alice Bateman and Jeanette Bateman 1916,,, writing on the back. Some of these photos also had my grt grandparents in them, so I am assuming these Batemans are either related or close friends. My great grandparents were Jacob & Marie Brillhart and they lived in Dallas and Ft Worth Texas. Any info on this Bateman family would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Isaac R Kelly – Mar 1934

Services will be held at 2 o’clock Monday afternoon at Chandlersville M. E. church for Isaac R. Kelly, prominent farmer and former school teacher who died Saturday morning at his home on East pike following an illness from heart trouble. He was a former trustee of Salt Creek township, and was a member of Sonors? Baptist church. Among the schools in this county where he taught were Sandy Ridge, Jackson and Robinson. Surviving are his widow, Elizabeth, of the home, four sons, John of the home; Clarence, ????ville; William, of White Cottage, and Scott Kelly, Blue Rock; two daughters, Mrs. Inez LeFever, Chandlersville, and Mrs. Marion Hague, ????ville, Monroe county; one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Pansler, this city; one brother, Frank Kelly, near this city; ?? grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. The body will remain at Bateman funeral home until time for the services. Burial will be at Chandlersville.

The Bateman side of my family was a coroner and the Kelly side was a under taker some of out own family had both of them on the same death certificate.
