My husband is his grandson and he was born in Kansas City. We have no direct relatives in Michigan, but if you have a name, I can do some checking. Carolyn Bath

Hi Kerry

My name is Margaret Parkes and I am descended from Mary Bath and Samuel Farrell through their daughter Mary Jane Farrell who married Samuel Rapson Watts, then through their daughter Ada Watts who was my grandmother.

Did you persuade your sister to let you copy and upload the photos in the old album? I am interested as my sister has some old photos passed on to her and there are quite a few that have no names on them so we don't know who the people are. I thought by comparing photos that we might be able to identify some faces.

I would love to make contact with you. regards Margaret Parkes. margaret.parkes@bigpond.com

Hi

I am also descended from Mary Bath and Samuel Farrell through their daughter Mary Jane Farrell who married Samuel Rapson Watts, then their daughter Ada Watts was my grandmother.

My tree on Ancestry is called Parkes/Hobbs and I have uploaded all my certificates, photos and stories. I would love a photo of Mary Bath b 1831. I think I have a photo of Mary Bath's house in Walcha, but I don't know who the people are on the verandah. It was described as 'mother's old home in Walcha' in my grand mother's album.

I think the book in the Walcha FHS is Albert James's book 'Bath History of Walcha', which I believe he is currently updating.

I would love to make contact with you.
Hi Eva, Glad you liked the "Dimon" in your mother's maiden name. The Dimon family were among the very early settlers of the Connecticut Colony. The family was very wealthy in the early 1800s, but the fortune had long since dissipated by the time Juliette married my great-grandfather. Her father, Seeley Dimon, just seemed to be one of those hard luck kind of guys who never had two nickels to rub together. If you would like my writeup off the Dimons, e-mail me at john.bates2@att.net. You confused me a bit with your introduction. You realize that Charles Henry Bath, Sr. married Flora Mildred Bates and they had four children, one of whom was a daughter, Flora Bates Bath, whose married name was Murphy. Regards, John Bates

The William Bath born in 1860, and birth registered at Taunton, Somerset registry is not the son of Edwin Bath and Clara Bath nee Creighton, the staff have checked their records on January 21st, 2011, and state that the parents for that entry are different.
The only places Thorncliff in England are in Staffordshire, West Yorkshire, and Greater Manchester. None in Somerset as stated on the 1861 census return.
There is a birth for a William Bath registered in 1859, at Greater Manchester.

An Edwin Bath married Clara Creighton at Farnham in 1859, he seems to have died not long after, he may have come from Chippenham, Wiltshire, as that is where his death was registered.
Clara had a son William, she sent home to live with her widowed mother Grace Creighton, and is listed with her in Bristol on the census.
Do not know if that helps.
The other place you mention is DEVIZES, Wiltshire.
Hilary

She then re-appears as Clara Bath aged 34, with son William Bath aged 11 months on the 1861 census living with her parents William and Grace Creighton at an addresS in Lewins Mead, St. James, Bristol. Did Edwin die? What was his occupation? 2 deaths of a person with that name occurred during 1859, and 1860.

Jessica is my sister's daughter, my niece. Nice to meet you and see that my Mom's middle name is an ancestor's last name. Pretty cool. I believe my Aunt Flora lived in Northern CA late in life. Her daughter, Barbara Jean cared for my mother's finances before she passed away in Sacramento, CA. I believe Barbara Jean lives in Texas. Best of Luck with this. Very interesting. I sure hope you still check this sight.

I have a good bit of information on some of the different lines on the family but not much on your line. I have Susie being married to Peter Barnard with the five children: Herman, Ida Mae, Minnie Lee, Harold and Melrose but cannot go any further than that.

Hi John,
I have a copy of William and Caroline's marriage records(V181367 7)they were married 8th June 1813 at St,Phillips Church Sydney by bann, witnesses were Mary Boulton and Joseph Allen. They had a daughter Caroline English born 1812, Sydney, a son Thomas H English born 1814(V18143362 1A)and another daughter Alice Ann English born 1816 Sydney(V18163058 1A). Caroline English, daughter of William and Caroline, had a daughter Caroline Ann English born 3 May 1835 at Bedlam Pt, Hunters Hill(V1835719 22)she was born out of wedlock to a Edward Boulton. Caroline Ann English married Christopher Bath.
My father was born and raised at Walcha and he took my sister and myself there in 1991 for a bit of nostaigia trip. While there I took some photos at the cemetery and one was of Caroline English's grave, she died on the 4th of Feb 1881 and was buried 5th of Feb 1881 aged 69 yrs.
Caroline(Bolton) English was 20 when she married William. It gets a bit confusing with all the Caroline Englishs dos'nt it. Hope this helps a little.
Regards Cheryl(Grieve) Marshall

Hi Cheryl,I just looked up the Marriage of William English and Caroline Boulton and it was in 1813 which would be in the timeframe of her being a freed woman but according to her death certificate she would have been 1 year old, so it looked like she greatly exagerated her age and maybe didn't tell William she was a convict and maybe the William Boulton she said was her Father was her Uncle ???
Very strange ,Regards John Montgomery.

Hi Cheryl, thanks for your information on William English and Caroline Boulton.
The other version I have is that Caroline Boulton Married William English in 1826 by banns and she was born in Sydney in 1812 the Daughter of William Boulton. I have a death certificate for Caroline English dated 5th of February 1881 died at Rangers Vale Walcha aged 69 meaning she was born in 1812 .Her informant was Chris Bath son in law . On her Death certificate she claimed she was born in Sydney and married William English aged 14.Children of her marriage were Thomas born 1831,and Caroline born 1839 . Maybe she lied about her age and her past but if she was a convict born in 1793 she would have been 33 years old when she married William English ???
Do you have any theories on this?
Regards John Montgomery
If you wish to contact me off post my Email address is johnmontgomery4@bigpond.com
Hi John,
The information I have on William English is that he came out from England on the ship Paramatta in 1807 as a free man. I have a christening record of a William English born 18 Feb 1787 and christened 19 Feb 1787, born York, Yorkshire, England, parents Moses English and Jane. But I have no verification that this William English is ours.He was born in 1787 and died 8 March 1839 at Newtown NSW.
Caroline Bolton/ Boulton was born 1793 in England, she and her sister Mary came to Australia in Oct 1811 on the convict ship Friends. They were convicted at Surry Assizes for 7 years on the 18 Aug 1810 for larceny,Caroline was free by servitude, do not have a date for that.Is this one of your versions, I would love to hear back from you.
Hello again,

I will nag my sister re: the photos as it is a beautiful old gilt edged album - it really is lovely to find all these rellies! I have gone back as far as Thomas Bath b.1640 d.1690 but have hit a wall - that happens. I would love to go to Walcha. My mother talked often of a boarding house that is apparently now the post office. I would also love to visit Christian Malford in Witshire UK as a lot of the baths are buried there. I love the way William bath named his property "Malford" after his birthplace. My mother talked of "The Brook" - a property at Walcha. My mother was Ruth Young daughter of Bassie Spicer and Cecil E Young of Walcha. Bessie Young (nee Spicer), was daughter of Elenor Jane "Nellie" Bath and Jasper Spicer. Nellie was the daughter of Richard "John" Bath and Julia Roberts and this "John" was your Mary Bath's brother. there were a LOT of kids in that family so we should have vousins everywhere.
Take care. I will let you know what my sister says re: the photos. Kerrie

Hi Kerrie,

yes we must be some kind of distant cousins. it would be wonderful if your sister would share her photos. such a precious thing to have.

i did have some photos of Mary Bathm standing on her front porch with some other family members, and photos of her house, but they got lost in a move. i was heartbroken..:(

i have been to walcha and seen their graves there. they are together ( most of them) in one section. i have gone back a fair way with the baths and the hulls.

i love doing this and finding our ancestors and their stories. are you aware there is a book at walcha library that has a fair bit of the Bath history in it>? i can't remember how far back that went as that was also lost..:(

hope to hear from you again. cheers
Hello,
My Name is Kerrie. My great great grandfather was Richard John "John" Bath, brother of Mary. Nice to meet you. Where are you? My mother (now passed) had a great fondness for "Granny" bath whom I believe is your GGG Grandmother! My sister has a very old photo album of the family and I am trying to convince her it would be nice to share the pics! Get in touch if you are still at this email address. I suppose we are very very distant cousins?!
Nice to read your message!
Kind regards
Kerrie

I have traced the Bath family back from a Hiram Alfred Bath c 1863 Bishopgate. Ending up with a Hiram Bath born possibly 1802 or 1795. This Hiram appears to have been a Cabinet Maker and the IGI suggests he was married twice, once to an Ann and secondly to Matilda. A bankruptcy of a Hiram Bath in 1831 is almost certainly our man.
Further help and or advice would be appreciated
Regards
Norman

My mother has told me stories that match what you have posted. She also stated that he ran away from home at a young age because his step-father was very cruel. My grandmother had an old clock in her house that contained a bullet that was removed from George when he was wounded in the civil war.
George W. Bath had a child, Susie Bath that married Daniel Peter Barnard (my great grandfather).
Sharon McBee

SPIRITSEEKER123: Have found an ancestor of mine born and married in Christian Malford, Wilts. Name Eliza BATH born bet. 1825-1826, mother Elizabeth BATH, father unknown (marriage certificate shows Eliza as illegitimate). Also on marriage certifiate a witness was an Amelia BATH. Could these have any connections to your Mary BATH? If you have found anymore information on BATH families in Christian Malford I'd be grateful for any help. Eliza's husband Joseph Compton also came from Chrisitan Malford. When did your relative go to Aus? In 1881 there were quite a few BATH families still living in the village.

Hi, I am chasing the line of William Bath who married twice, firstly to Sussanah Bridgeman and Secondly to Sarah West.
Susannah died at Christian Malford England and William & Sarah travelled to Australia om 1844. he was the son of Joseph Bath and Mary Hull, not sure if this fits into what your looking for

regards jenny
