they had a son George b 1848 IA

I believe Edward Sr had a brother by the name of Otis born can 1800-1810 MZ

I am the daughter of Calvin Earl Battle. I started to research the family recently when I met unknown family members at a funeral. They had also been researching. Their last names are Smith and Lynch. With the help of your post we were able to find out how we were connected.
Some corrections for your post
It is actually Jack Walker Battle, Calvin and Carrie are twins born in 1938, William battle was actually Carr's step-son. Please email me at jkw215@roadrunner.com I would like to know how you are related to me. Thank you

I have battle family in the same area.. I have been stuck between 1900 cenus I have not been able to go back any further. my great great great grandfathers name is Jupiter Battle he married Lizzie/Elizabeth and may have had a brother named Sandy. They had alteast 7 children

My great grandfather was also jd battle. My father was James k Lynn,son of Nina battle and William k Lynn. Would love to see any information you have. Yes there are a lot of Battle's. My Great Grandfather was also from Edgecombe. His name was Joseph Edward Battle & my grandma name was Adlonia. They had six kids, Betsy, Nancy, Ethel, Jesse, Tom and William. Two of my grandfather's brother's name were Percy & Richard Battle. They had a sister who lived to be 100 yrs. old. BATTLE Christian Anthony Battle, age 21, of Ashville, Ohio passed away Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at Grant Medical Center, Columbus, Ohio.

He was born February 7, 1990 in Columbus, Ohio.
He was a 2008 Graduate of Teays Valley H.S. and worked for The Conner Group in Columbus.
After his passing, Christian was able to give the ultimate gift of life to help others live a better quality of life. Survived by his parents, Gregory L. Battle and Tamara E. (Hothem) Battle; sister, Shelby L. Battle all of Ashville, Ohio; grandparents, Billy and Sandra Battle of Chesterhill, OHIO, and Bobbie Hothem of Ashville; uncles and aunts, Billy J. Battle of Chesterhill, OHIO, Lori (Oliver) Roberts of Reynoldsburg, Bill Hothem of Columbus, OH.

Preceded in death by grandfather Darrell Hothem in 1984.

Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. on Friday , Today at the OLIVER-CHEEK FUNERAL HOME, 420 W. Main St., Ashville.
A Funeral Service will held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 13, 2011 at Teays Valley High School, Auditorium, 3887 St. Rt. 752, Ashville with calling hours from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. The Rev. Bill Pellum will officiate.

My grandmothers name was Adel Battles. We are from Chicago. She had a sister, her name was Sarah Battles. They come from Ireland in the late 1800's or early 1900s. I saw the date once, but forgot.

Hier is the only Florence Battle I could find within a ten year period of the 1891 Census
Its seems she moved in with the Hyatt family ... maybe her mums sister ( aunty )as she is stated to be a niece or she is the daughter of the sister of Charles Hyatt who married a Battle
Anyway ... she was living with her aunty, uncle and cousins

I could not find any of them in the 1901 Census ... maybe Florence got married before she was 18 and therefore had a different surname or they all emigrated

Sorry it took so long for me to get back to you. I have no James Battle in my tree except my Uncle who would be to young. None of my John Battles have a middle name of Henry nor do the wives match up. There are a lot of Battles out there so hope you find a connection.

No. Those Battles that settled in No. Carolina I think came with the White Battles Family.from the Tidewater area of VA

My Battles in 1740's were in the Albemarle Co area.

My dad was named Miles, no middle name, Peterson. He had a brother named Harry, and two sisters, Betty and Rosie. His father's name was Ransom, his mother Annie (nee Johnson). They were all from Alabama.

My great,great,great grandmother & grandfather were born & married in Hurtsboro, Alabama-Russell County in 1865 & 1870.
I believe they died around 1930 & 1948. They had 8 children/
Lillie, Sander,Cooper, Ella, Agnes,Owen(1/2 white)Lucy & Lovie. Any information regarding their parents or slave owener is wanted.

My double-greats grandfather Benjamin C. Battle was half Native American. He was born in NC in August 1821 and winds up in Bibb County, Alabama where in 1842 he marries a white woman named Rebecca Cottingham. However, I know nothing of his Native American ancestors. Think we might have a connection here? About when did your ggg-grandmother live, and was it in NC?

There were three children of this marriage. All are
buried at Hillcrest Cemetary, Bowie Co. Texas. I believe
it is in New Boston. Ida was my great grandmother. She was

My Battles as of 1740's are from Albemarle Co., Virginia near North Garden and Warren. There was a Shadrach Battle who fought in the Rev. War. He was native american. . I know his wife Dorothy Moss was also Native American. One was Monacan (probably Dorothy) and the other Cherokee.

I have been tracing our tree for awhile and I believe I got "mixed up" and discovered there were two sets of Battles but they are Definitely related. My mom and aunt are Alfrida and Edith Battle. My Grandfather was James A. Battle. He married Vera Benton, his mom's name was Mary Love. Other names... I have heard mentioned are Sydney, Shelton, Viola, Ullyses,"Munsy", Silver...All Battles (and some Petersons)If any of you have any info or may be connected please let me know. Thank you for the tip. I know Robert went to Wilmington, NC, where he married Margueritte/Maggie Rhone. I found him again on a 1905 Census living with his daughter in Brooklyn, NY.

Hi Allyson, there certainly were a lot Battles in NC. My West and a few Woodleys married Battles. Most of them lived in Nash,Edgecombe,Warren and Franklin County. As you saw my gaunt Penny m Willis Battle and I'm not sure if they had children,Mary D West m William Mack Battle and had a Loarenzo,William G and Anita. There are several more however I would need to go thru my files to locate the rest of them. Do any of these names sound familiar

Hi, The names you mentioned are not names I'm familiar with or have found as of yet. My West family married into the Battle family. Mary D West m a william Mack Battle and they had 3 children, Lorenzo,William and anita. Pearlie Woodley m a John Battle and they had a daughter. There are more however I can't think of all of them now.
