Richard Holmes Baty (1841) is the father of my grand father Richard Wilson Baty (1882) who died in Harper Ward, Utah. He and his wife Minned Korth Baty are buried in the Harper Ward Cemetery, Utah. We have followed the information as follows:
John Baty (1683)
William Baty (1709)
Thomas Henry Baty (1746)
Thomas Baty (1795)
Richard Holmes Baty (1841)
Richard Wilson Baty (1882)

I just read one of your old posts and wondered if you ever got the information you were looking for. My mother's maiden name was hall and she recalls her great grandmother living with them in the early 1930's in Arkansas. Her name was Nancy Strickland and our family thinks her maiden name may have been Baty.

POW/MIA Korean War BATY

I am searching for the family of a soldier who was killed in the Korea War. When he entered service he gave Limestone County, TX as his home of record. His remains were never recovered. Our government has no family contact at this time for this soldier

Soldier: WILLIE JAMES BATY
Born:1930 Black
Date of loss:14 September 1950 MIA

When the Korean War ended the enemy never returned or accounted for over 8,000 of our servicemen. They died in their hands. That was over 50 years ago. Since that time DNA has been perfected and also they are recovering remains in North Korea. Our government is obligated to return those remains to the proper family. DNA samples have been obtained from most of the families of these missing soldiers. For various reasons some families have not been located.

When the remains are recovered and identified they will be returned to the family for proper burial. I am just an old (79years) Combat Veteran out of the Korean War and thankful that I did return. I consider this a very noble cause and I hope that you can help in some way to find this family. For more information on the project you may go to http://www.jpac.pacom.mil/. My part in the program is to match up the lost families with the proper agency.

I will be grateful for any assistance in locating this family.

Harold Davis
40th Infantry Division
Korea ’52-‘53
910-791-2333
hgdavis@bellsouth.net
(newspaper clipping)

Wed After Two Years

Distance Only Made This couple’s Hearts Grow the Fonder.

A pretty love romance was brought to a happy conclusion this morning in the probate court room when Judge Jordan pronounced the words which made Irwin A. Baty of Narborne, Mo., and Mary Louisa Courtney, of this city, man and wife. The courtship of the happy couple dates back two years or more, to Potomac, ILL., near which place both Mr. Baty and his bride then lived with their parents.

The tide of immigration subsequently caused the separation of the young couple, the groom’s parents moving to Missouri and those of the bride to this state. Miss Courtney was making her home in this city with a brother, when Mr. Baty again renewed his suit, which after the lapse of several months resulted in the marriage which took place this morning.

Mr. and Mrs. Baty left today for Norborne, where they will live.

Hutchinson News (Weekly)
Huthcinson, Reno County, Kansas
Thursday, August 26, 1909
page – 6 *** column – 5

<

POW/MIA Korean War, BATY

I am searching for the family of a soldier who was killed in the Korea War. When he entered service he gave Limestone County, Texas as his home of record. His remains were never recovered. Our government has no family contact at this time for this soldier

Soldier: WILLIE JAMES BATY
Born: 1930
Date of loss: 14 September 1950 MIA

Hi. My name is Karen and I am researching Augusta Mackenroth, Daniel K. Baty's wife. I know Clark and Sarah were his parents, but have nothing on his siblings. I also would like to know who Clark's parents were. Any information you have would be greatly appreciated. I have two articles from Great Bend Daily Tribune about Daniel and I have a copy of the 1915 Census listing he and his wife. I also have a photo of their headstones. I would be glad to share if you don't already have these.

thomas and jonathon are both very historic names in our family but i have no details of either. I do have details of the baty family in egromont and cockmouth and sitoth where my great grand mother was the oldest inhabitant and was born in the 1800's. my grandfather Harold Baty is thankfully still alive at 95 and was the manager of a shoe factory in egromont in cumbria until the mid 80's when it was closed down. His mother Katherine lived to be 99 in siloth and was known for her work with the "old people" who were quite a bit younger than her. Her husband Jonathon Baty was in charge of the docks at silloth before the war he was respaonable for the safe transportation of sheep and cattle fron and to the port. Family ties ae still in place in silloth, causway head and whitehaven in cumbria and also barnsley and leeds in yorkshire where grandchildren and great greatgrandchildren now live
I managed Thomas Baty and Sons when it was aquired and closed down by JW Lees Brewery from Middleton Manchesterin 1990.
Most of the historic records and memrobilia were sent to their Brewery for safe keeping. The then chairman Mr Richard Lees Jones was very keen to preserve the artifacts sent there. I suggest you contact them in your quest.
Tel 0161 643 2487.
I you do find any information I would be grateful to hear it as I am trying to put together the history of old Liverpool Wine Merchants and Shippers
