My grandfather who was said to be born on Mission San Gabriel. His birth name is Juan Bautista, but he changed his name to Robert Santa Cruz. He married Grandmother is Elizabeth Olivas/Olivias, but this isn't her birth name we were told, we were told she was born on mission San Diego, contacted both missions, no reply from San Gabriel but San Diego said it couldn't bee the time frame we gave them. I figured mid to late 1800s because my dad was born in 1917. I don't know birth or marriage years or death. They had six children, 2boys and 4girls. Carl, Robert (My father), Carmalita(Carmen), Margaret, Virginia, Elizabeth(Grace).

Carl C. Santa Cruz was born in Feb. 1, 1916 in California, he was a WWII vet and died in Feb. 1989in Long Beach California. He was married to a woman named Fern Rakes of Yuma Yuma Co., Arizona in 1946, I found marriage information online. She was born in 1914. They had two children their son David Santa Cruz was born in 1947 he married a woman whose name I do not know and had two children a boy and a girl, both names are unknown to me aswell. I don't know their birth dates or if any of them are dead. My Uncle also had a daughter with his wife Fern. Her name was Ellen Ann Santa Cruz she was born in 1949. She was married twice once to a man named Micheal Allen Brown devorced in Dec. 1968. She had one daughter Heather Marie Brown in September 28, 1969 who later was adopted by her mothers second husband Perry Payne in 1971 after he and her mother were married Jan. 31, 1971. Perry and Ellen had another daughter together Heidi Beth Payne born May 28, 1973. I am unsure on the fathers information and if the are still living. I am pretty sure the daughters are alive. My daughter said she found them on myspace but when she emailed Heidi with this story she got no reply so I am not sure. Ellen Santa Cruz died in 1994 in UCLA Hospital where she was suppose to undergo surgery.

My Father Robert G. Santa Cruz was born in Feb. 13, 1917 in California, he too was a WWII Army Vet, he died in Norwalk California April 12, 1989. He married his first wife a woman named Eileen Conner. I think she was born Jan 24, 1924 and she died June 21, 2001. Together they had 3 children 2 boys 1 girl. Robert Santa Cruz unsure of his birthdate but died in 2007 on his boat in Catalina, California. Jonathan(Johnny) Santa Cruz unsure of his birth and death dates. Their daughter Judy Hernandez(Santa Cruz). unsure of her birth date. My Father then married my mother I don't know what year and she can't remember, Maria Sanchez, She was born in June 13, 1932. My dad was her second husband she was married to Victor Fenandez de Castillo while she lived in Mazatlan, Mexico after she moved back there with her family 4 moths after she was born in California. She had 6 children with him. I was born to my mother and father Robert Santa Cruz in 1964, my name is Elizabeth.

Margaret Santa Cruz unsure of her birth and death date married a man named Louis I am not sure of his lastname. They had no children, I was told she hated kids.

My aunt Virginia Santa Cruz unsure of her birthdate but I am pretty sure she died in 1969, no children she was married to a man named James(Jim) Greene unsure of his birth date but I know he died recently sometime after 2001 because he moved back to his hometown but he still sent flowers to my aunt's grave. The cemetery said they stopped coming, unsure of the date or year.

Carmalita Santa Cruz unsure again on birth and death years, married a man named Tony lastname unknown had a son named Anthony. She then married my uncle Richard Breese, he raised Anthony as if son. Unsure of birth years but as far as I know my Uncle is still alive.

Elizabeth(Grace) Santa Cruz unsure of birth or death date, but I know she is burried in Westminster California. She married a man named Jerome Schultz upon researching him on the net I found out he was born in New York on July 27, 1922 and he died in Westminster California in April 1987. they had no children.

If anyone can help me on my quest to my past I am thankful.

I was born in fresno, but lived in madera for a while. My sister and other relatives still live in fresno. call me, 562/230-1044... WOW, i wonder if you look like us. Its funny because i was just browsing thru trying to find some family history and came up on this. I hope that you are still looking. I will tell u everything about my tio. I never heard of that nickname, (I also noticed that you have spelled the surname bau"s"tista...I think that is just a typo, but never know)
I know that I have a half-sister (she'd probably be approximately between 40-60 years old, maybe??)

my family has 2 boys (myself being one of them), and one older girl (ring any bells?).

my father had roots in the navy.

Looking for family of my grandfather's (Jose de Jesus Navarrete)2nd wife, Catalina Bautista. I do have the death certificate of Jesus and reads as follows:

Death: January 27, 1973, Gustavo A. Madero Delegation, Mexico

Burial: El Panteon Pequenode Nombre Santiago

They did have a son and daughter together. I have been told the son died as a young child. I am now searching for the daughter, my aunt. PLEASE, any help would be greatly appreciated. I want to connect my father and his two remaining siblings with their half-sister.

Well...its been a while since anyone replied so...i cannot remember at this point in time...give me a day or so to dig out my family tree chart; what I do remember (from conversations with my Aunt) is that my Great Grandmother was a Spaniard that came from a wealthy family...she married a local indian and because of this she and family to come where outcasted...pretty bum deal...I believe her name was Maria Morfin...she had a couple of kids two where Twins (Juan and ?).

Juan Morfin was my grandfather he married Ignacia (Nacha) Larios; he passed away in 1994. Ignacia died young due to an infection in the early 70's. They had the following kids:
Rafael Morfin - lives near Cuidad Guzman
Rigoberto Morfin - lives in Colima
Ampara (La Morena) Morfin - lives in Chicago
Ofelia Morfin - lives in Chicago

Let me know if this some how sounds familiar...FYI I lived in WA State a couple of yrs ago and in the town of Yakima & Sunnyside there seems to be family from Pihuamo...

Maximina Bautista Vargas is my husband's grandmother. She died in El Paso, Texas in 1936. We just received her death certificate. Her parents are listed as Herardo Bautista and Basilia Casas.

Basilia Casas Bautista came to the states in 1916. She is living with her son, Atanacio, in al Paso, Texas in the 1930 census, and is a widow. Another daugther, Natalia Bautista married a Gonzales and is listed in Arizona in the 1920 census and Colorado in the 1930 census. Maximina married Juan Vargas and had 7 daughters.

Perhaps the father, Gerardo Bautista, died before the family emigrated to the states?

Any additional information would be appreciated.

I am in dire need of finding the family of Catalina Bautista (born about 1927). She was married to my grandfather, JOSE DE JESUS NAVARRETTE. He passed away on January 27, 1973 in Gustavo A. Madero Delegation, Mexico and is buried in El Panteon Pequenode Nombre Santiago. They had two children, a boy and a girl. The boy died very young. I NEED to find their daughter, mi Tia. I have the same lineage and I have been looking for the missing link myself. I have come to the conclusion that the original Oliba family were meztizos of the Sombrerte region. Oliba is not a common name in Zacatecas, Zacatecas, Mexico but there is a concentration of them in Sombrerete and Chalchiuites, Zacatecas, Mexico. In the 1790 census of New Mexico, the son of Pedro Asensio/Adaucto Bautista de Oliba was listed as a meztizo. Hope this helps and that some day you can officially complete the link for us.
