Hello! I am looking for information on John Baverstock's father. John would have been born around 1830 or so in Reading Berkshire England? Thank you for your help!

Hi Kelly.
How are you?
I may have already told you this but I saw your message today and thought I'd let you know who John Baverstock's parents were.

John Baverstock was born in Newtown, Hampshire, Eng in 1827. He was baptised 18 Feb 1827. His parents were James Baverstock (1797-1832) and Sophia (nee Bolton). He had one brother Benjamin (bapt 1829 died 13 April 1832).

P>James Baverstock and Sophia Bolton were married in Newtown, Hampshire 17 Novemebr 1825 by Licence.

James was the son of John Baverstock (1756-1835) and Sarah Lambden (1756-1821). He had 8 brothers and sisters:

William - bapt 25 May 1779
Elizabeth bapt 2 June 1780
Hannah - bapt 26 Dec 1781
Sarah - bapt 16 Jan 1786
Thomas - bapt 13 -- 1788
Benjamin - bapt 19 Sept 1790
Maria - bapt 27 Jan 1793 (married Moses White 28 Dec 1835)
Timothy - bapt 13 Feb 1794.

Apart from William, all of these children were born and baptised in the parish of Newtown, Hampshire, England. William was baptised in St Mary Bourne, Hampshire (where his mum - Sarah Lambden - came from).

I'll send you more info soon and I'll send you a copy of the Baverstock tree. I've found some more census details re the Baverstock and Weller families so I'll send you those too.

Hope this is of use to you.
Best Wishses

Matthew

Matthew, by any chance do you have anything on the Sara Lambden you mention in your message or know any of her distance kin that would know about her family. I know It's a long shot, but in my research on the Lambden family I been coming up short. Anything would be great. Thanks for you time. My e-mail address is Tlg19942000@aol.com

Hi Joy

Sorry about the delay in getting back to you. Here's
What I know about Sarah Lambden's family:

Sarah was the 3rd child born to Timothy Lambden and Elizabeth
(nee Hopgood) his wife. Sarah was born in St Mary Bourne, Hampshire, Eng
on 5 Feb 1755, and baptised there on 20 Feb 1755. The Parish register gives
both her date of birth and baptism.

Sarah had 7 brothers and sisters:

Timothy bt 4 Mar 1752 St Mary Bourne
(died pre 1763)
William bt 22 Apr 1753 St Mary Bourne
Elizabeth bt 17 Apr 1757 St Mary Bourne
Elisha bt 16 Feb 1759 St Mary Bourne
Henry bt 8 Mar 1761 St Mary Bourne
Timothy bt 2 Sept 1763 St Mary Bourne
Thomas bt 12 Jan 1766 St Mary Bourne

Sarah married John Baverstock (bt 3 Nov 1756 E. Woodhay, Hants, died
25 Mar 1836 Newtown, Hampshire) at St Mary Bourne parish church in 1778.

I guess from your interest in the Baverstock surname board, and your interest
in Sarah Lambden that you are related to the Baverstocks too. Are you, and if so how?
I, myself am descended from John and Sarah's son James Baverstock.

Ok back to the Lambdens.

Timothy Lambden (father of Sarah) married Elizabeth Hopgood pre 1752 (sorry I've forgot the date)
He was bt 6 July 1724 at St Mary Bourne, and died 12 Dec 1808 at St Mary Bourne.

Timothy was the son of Thomas Lambden (bt 22 Feb 1690/1 St Mary B) and
Mary Burgess (bt 25 Mar 1688). He had four brothers and sisters:

Henry bt 3 Jul 1714 St Mary Bourne
Thomas bt 24 Jan 1716/16 St Mary Bourne
Amey bt 22 Dec 1721 St Mary Bourne
John bt 18 Sept 1727 St Mary Bourne

Thomas (bt 1690) was the son of Thomas Lambden (died 1692/93), and he had an elder sister named
Amee (bt 25 Apr 1688 St Mary Bourne).

I hope this helps you, and I'd be interested in your connection to Sarah.
If you'd like a copy of the Lambden family tree just let me know your address and I'll post you a copy.

Happy Christmas New Year

Matthew Donovan

Hello Mathew,
I have been doing my f. tree and was trying to find out when Sarah Elizabeth Lambden born 7/10/1868 left Basingstoke to go to Sth Africa. Where do I go for ships departures around 1891 perhaps from Southampton? This is my first time to do any of this on Internet so I'm not sure if this is what I'm to do. Could you please help? It would be really appreciated. Thankyou.
Helen
