Hi. i am looking for information on Mary Florence Beach. I know she was married to at least four times. McMillian,Cuddie,Arnott and the last was Rioux. In some the the family tree it has her death in Nov 1935.
What i would like to know is the date of death, where is she buried at and what cemetery, and what name did she go buy when she passed away.
I found her last husband in the 1930 census living with his brother john in bay city but no wife. It has him listed as married.
Can some one help me out here. This is my great great grandma.
thank you..

Re: Frederick Beach

Was reading some old newspapers today and came across this couple, then in a google search saw this request for more information.

This couple was almost on the Titanic. What a strange story they have! The first article talks about how they almost took the Titanic, the article is from a few days before the Titanic sank. The second story has details about the couple and it is more focused on the trial, like how she stands by her accused husband, how there was a diamond studded knife found at the scene of her throat slashing, etc. She survived the throat slashing, by the way. And Frederick was acquitted.

http://news.google.com/newspapers?id=cUpZAAAAIBAJ&sjid=I...

http://news.google.com/newspapers?id=stErAAAAIBAJ&sjid=f...

http://www.flickr.com/photos/library_of_congress/3294664051/

Adaline, Andrew, and Lucy BEACH of Ohio

Hello:

I have a bit of a BEACH mystery going on and thought this would be the place to ask for help.

In the 1850 Edinburg, Portage Co., OH, census Adaline BEACH, 10, b. Ohio, is with William and Margaret (Hampton) DAWSON (my relatives).

In the same census, Andrew BEACH, 8, b. Ohio, is two doors from Adaline with the Anson and Annette TUTTLE family.

In the 1850 Atwater, Portage, OH, census Lucy A BEACH, 8, b. Ohio, is with the Henry T. and Orpha WILLSEY family.

In 1860, Adaline, school teacher, is with the Jacob and Editha (Ross) DAWSON family (my relatives) in Wyoming, Otoe County, NE.

An AdEline, same vitals and also a school teacher, is also found with the Joshua and Lucinda DAWSON family in the Ross, Fremont County, IA, census. This is likely the same woman; censuses were taken more than a month apart. (And my g-g-uncle, S.A. HATHAWAY is living next door!)

Nothing definitive for Lucy or Andrew in the 1860.

I am trying to sort out all three children, especially Adaline as she is with my family in the 1860.

I have been unable to satisfactorily sort out the DAWSONs but feel they must all be connected (Jacob and Joshua likely brothers and born in Ohio).

Does anyone have Adaline, Lucy, or Andrew BEACH? Or William (1787 - 1868), Jacob (1820 - 1869), or Joshua (46 in the 1860) DAWSON?

Any help very much appreciated!

Hi Denis,

Yes, I would like to take a look at the revised gedcom.... the one I have is from Eugene and is over a decade old. I'll email you now.

Also, I stopped by to see the tombstone yesterday and took some pictures (sorry for the low quality, but I used my Smartphone). I'll email them to you. The one picture of the highway shows it's location. It's just to the right, up the hill, in the cedar grove. Thousands of people drive by every day, and few know it's even there.

Cheers,

Peter

Hi Denis,

You're welcome! You don't happen to have any information about Clarissa and Fanny Beach... or reference to any relationships between the Bowen's and Beach's in the Clarke Township? Can you send me a link to the updated Gedcom (for the Thomas Beach lineage). Thanks!

Peter

Hello Denis,

Thanks for contacting me! The Beach tombstone in the Clarke Township (Durham Region, Municipality of Clarington) has been a mystery, standing alone in a cedar grove beside a major highway. Nobody really knew where they came from or how they ended up there.

Over the past few days I decided to look into it again and found some exciting information. The internet has surely improved the ability to find information and do research!

For one, it is highly unlikely they are buried there. Turns out, Alf Graham (now deceased) found it nearby in his hedgerow or barn. I'm assuming he or someone in his family resurrected it out of respect.

Based on this new information, here is what I'm guessing (supporting data to follow):

1802- Lovel and Orilla leave for Canada, the same year Moses is born

1803- They settle in Lansdowne Township. They have two more children, Fanny and Clarissa

1815- They sell the property to Israel Bowen

1818- Lovel takes ownership of another property in Lansdowne Township

1828- Lovel dies

1832- His son Moses takes ownership of a property in the Clarke Township

1833- Orrilla dies (on the tombstone her name is spelled "Aurilla")

1845- Lovel Beach, (possibly the son of Senior Beach, brother of LOVEL BEACH, b. July 26, 1796, d.?), takes ownership of a property in Lansdowne Township.

Assumptions:

Lovel is buried in Lansdowne Township. Orrilla is buried in Clarke Township, likely on the property owned by Moses. He erects a tombstone that gets lost over time. It's found by Alf Graham many years later and erected, out of respect, at its current site.

-----------------
Supporting Data
-----------------

Most of the dates I got from an old Gedcom file from Eugene. I noticed in your message some of the names, like Lovel's father, is spelled differently. Are these corrections or errors?

Lovel [Lovewell, Lovis] Beach
b. If it is "our" Lovel, he would have been 38 at the time. On September 25, 1815 he sold the property to Israel Bowen for 55 pounds. http://www.ltihistoricalsociety.org/bowenhouse.html

(more information about Israel Bowen below)

Lovel's Father:
Benoni [Barnias, Benias] Beach
b: June 15, 1737 in Wallingford, New Haven, Conn.

Lovel's Mother:
Chloe Palmer
b: ABT 1739 in Branford, New Haven, Conn.

Married January 27, 1799 :
Aurilla [Orrilla] Kilbourn

Children:
Moses
1802-1857
•	"Married 1827, Esther Provost. I just can't make the link for this area:

Stella Beach (b. Sept. 24, 1797) married Abijah Bowen. Stella's father was Julius Beach (b. 1765) from Goshen Connecticut.

If there is anything you can contribute to this "story", I would appreciate it! Curious to know what happened to Clarissa and Fanny.

And please send my regards to Eugene. Thanks!

Peter
Unfortunately, Eugene has been inactive as a Beach researcher for many years. I have his files which are used as a master catalogue for my Beach genealogy.

From Eugene's files I have a Lovel Beach, b. 16 May 1765, d. Apr 1828; married: Orrilla Kilboirn, b. 27 Jan 1799.

Lovel's father was Nenomi Beach. If this is the sameBeach, I would enjoy receiving updated information so as to correct my files and add additional information.

You may contact me in this site or at DBeachFam at aol.com

Denis Beach

Ron,

Thank you. This is indeed of interest. The letter would indeed have been dated 1828. Abraham Beach died September 14,1828.

I think I can identify many of the names in the letter for you. I believe the signature is that of Ann S. Croes (not Crues). John Croes was Abraham Beach's successor (by many years) as rector of Christ Church, New Brunswick, and 1st Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of New Jersey (1815-1832). I believe Ann was his daughter (his wife's name was Martha).

Elizabeth Bull would have been Beach's daughter. Mrs Rattoone was another Beach daughter (Hannah). Mrs. Lawrence is another daughter/sister, Cornelia Beach, who was married to Isaac Lawrence (W not U). Mr. Beach would be, of course, his son, Abraham Beach Jr. (who lived in Connecticut). His father, the deceased Abraham Beach, was born in Cheshire, CT.

The Parkers and the Dunhams were prominent members of the congregation, but without more information I am not sure who specifically is inteneded. The two likely Dunhams are either Charles or (Dr.) Jacob Dunham (MD). I am not sure about the Parkers, and I am not sure who Dr. Porter is.

Hope this helps some. Let me know if you have other questions.

Chris Brennan
cristoir@optonline.net

Is this the same Lovel Beach?
I believe he died in 1823, making it the oldest tombstone in our area by 30
years!

Kind regards,

Peter

I am sorry to have taken so long to transcribe this letter.
This letter was sent to Elisabeth Bull of Hartford, CT. I believe the date was 1828, not 1826, but was hard to read. I believe I have transcribed the body of the letter correctly, but the signature of the composer was not easily read, and could be incorrect. I believe I know who some of the people in this letter are, but I would appreciate feedback of who you know them to be.
Enjoy

Ron Bull

New Brunswick Sept 11, 1828

My Dear Elizabeth,

I am commissioned by our dear friend Mrs. Rattoone to inform you of the death of the venerable parent Dr. Beach, who departed this life this morning about 2 o’clock, after 3 days indisposition, which, was not of a violent kind, nor I believe until yesterday did she think his state very alarming. It appeared to be old age, and an entire decay of nature. His last moments were obscured by delirium, so that he was insensible to the arrival of his daughter Mrs. Laurence, who arrived yesterday afternoon. Mrs. McVickar is also at the farm and Mr. Laurence is expected this afternoon. He is to be buried tomorrow morning, in our churchyard, beside the remains of your aunt Miss Bull. Mrs. Rattoone and Mrs. Laurence are more composed than it was feared they would be. Papa has just returned from visiting them, and left them quite tranquil, and able to direct the arrangements for the funeral. But it is not in the first moments of bereavement that the heart suffers the keenest anguish, It will take months, and years, to restore Mrs. Rattoone’s exhausted strength, and spirits, to any kind of health or cheerfulness. We have been very much afflicted with sickness, in our family and neighborhood during the last six weeks. Maria has been brought to the brink of the grave, with what we thought was consumption, but she has recovered rapidly during the last fortnight, and is likely to enjoy better health than usual. Martha has also been very sick, and Mrs. Parker’s family have all been ill, and her daughter Mrs. Dunham, with bilious fever. I shall write to Mr. Beach at Cheshire and Dr. Porter at Amesbury this afternoon. How is your health, and that of your family, my dear Elizabeth? I hope quite good, so that you may be able so that you may be able to come and stay with Mrs. Rattoone, this fall, for I know of no person that will give her so much comfort as yourself.

Your sincere friend,
Ann S.
Hi Bill,

I found your post today concerning Thomas Beach. We also have a Thomas Beach in our tree:

Thomas Beech (Beach)
Birth 1724 in Ireland, Cork, Ireland
Death 1765 in Colleton, South Carolina, United States

It seems that this is probably not the Thomas you referenced, but since I have reached a dead end to this point (no records prior to Thomas' immigration) I thought it might be worth asking if he was in your research papers. Thanks for your help.

Debbie Beech

I would enjoy receiving information regarding Abraham's lineage as there are many Abrahams born in the 1700's without a death and/or birth location or date.

You may contact me at DKBeacgFam @ aol. com.
Re: Alfred Livingston Beach

Alfred Livingston was son of probably Nancy, d/o Isaac and Elizabeth (Baker)Beach. AL was listed in one census with Julia Ann, sister of Nancy which has led some researchers to Julia being his mother. I have no proof either way. Both Nancy and Julia Ann had children out of wedlock (neither of them ever married) and I have read various places that a Forney was thought to be the father of at least some of her children. Apparantly, he also helped to educate them as AL was a school teacher. I can't find Nancy in any of the census records which leads me to believe she died rather young. I descend from Nancy's brother, Joel, b. 1818. If you get further info on this, I would appreciate hearing from you. Nancy
