John Bean

I am looking for information on John Bean, born abt. 1834 in Tennessee, married to Matilda Goble, lived in Indiana, had three children: George W., born 1868; Hezekiah A., born 1870; and William, born 1872. Would like to know who his parents are, also, he disappears from the record between 1873 - 1880. Did he die? Run off? He is a possible relative of my husband. Any info would be great.

It's been a few months but I'm back on the trail again of Nannie Bean. It seems if I leave it alone and then go back to a search I can find out more information.

All I remember of my Dad talking about his ancestors is that Judge Roy Bean was a relative. With reading all the communication about the Judge with 21 kids no wonder it's a mystery.

Did you ever view my tree?

Melinda Clem Cooper

I don't think there's a connection. The Beans I'm searching came to the states long before your Bean did. Also, they were mainly in the NE, quite a distance from Wisconsin (which makes his move there so strange). Sorry.

I cannot help with your request but I am researching a Valentine Bean brn. 1873 in Kent Uk who came to Canada 1910 .
The place "Wisconsin" sounds familiar .
I have not been able to trace any movements of this man since he left UK , I have all his siblings / parents etc. but he seems to be very elusive . His sister was Annie Bean who also lived in Hamilton, canada and married to Sidney Thompson , her children were Victor , Doris ( Mrs. G Brandow ) and Edna ( Mrs. J McConville.)
I know this is a long shot but I am wondering if you could be a distant connection or that you may know of connections to this man.
Some seem to think he may have changed his name to "Wally" but I have nothing to lead me to that conclusion.
We know he married and had a family as a now deceased aunt used to write to him , she said he had mostly boys.
If this is of no consequence please delete and I wish you all the best in your research.
Delma ( Bean) McDonald in Australia

I must have been exhausted when I wrote the original message. ------------------- David Ames Bean, The younger / Jr. was the son of David Bean, The Elder / Sr. who was the son of Col. John Bean. ----------------------------- He was not the son of Capt. Joseph Bean. He was his brother and Slocum's father Edward would have been his nephew, not his brother. -------------- Edward's brother David was presumably named for his Uncle, David Bean, The Elder. ---------------------------------------------------Sorry if I confused the issue for anyone who is trying to keep all this straight. I have attached a diagram to clarify.

I am looking for descendants of Robert T. Bean and Nancy Quesenberry. They moved to Texas in the 1850's from Arkansas. I have obtained family photos and am trying to identify (if possible) individuals. There are a few photos that appears to be of their son Richard (1857-1920), his family and their home; however, no names are listed except his and even then, he is not specifically identified.

I can be reached through Ancestry.com or at my personal email at dasinclair0011@yahoo.com

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi - I am the gr, gr. grandson of David Ames Bean. His father David, was brother to Edward, both sons of Capt. Joseph Bean. Edward was father to Slocum P. who fathered WIlliam E. Is your grandfather Slocum the son of William E. ? I've found no record of William E. having children so would be very interested in this information. Where was your grandfather born and what year ? Who was his mother ? Who was his wife ? I am compiling as complete as possible a list of the descendants of Col. John Bean to post on my Col. John and Hannah Ames Bean Facebook page. I am hoping that somewhere there is a family bible in someone's attic and that they will stumble across this mystery and be able to tell us who the Col.'s parents were.

William Bean is recorded as arriving in Charleston, SC aboard the snow (ship) Admiral Hawke from Londonderry at the very end of 1767. His age was stated as 40. His wife Nomiah was aged 30. There is no guarantee that these ages are correct or that Nomiah (Naomi misspelled?) was a Bates. The original source of her last name being Bates is unknown, but appears in the Autobiography of George Washington Bean and references a lost family Scots Bible (not an indicator they are Scottish, it's the edition named 'Scots'). Some think that perhaps the Storment line may have kept that Bible.

This didn't answer your question, and I assert that no one knows the answer. There was a William Bean born 1727 in Croy, Inverness shire, and Bernie Bean thought this was the right one, and claimed to have notes from some family, but he'd lost them when asked.

A William Bean is recorded in the very southern tip of County Londonderry in 1766 in the Church Census, just east of Cookstown. Bates as a family name is known in the old records of the local church and is still there. I think odds are this is the right couple on the eve of coming to Charleston, SC.

I don't believe written records will ever get us further back than this, only genetic testing. I have a few more details on this couple if desired, but nothing going back before 1766 that is certain.

My grandmother was Maud Bean, and she was daughter of William Thomas Bean, and raised by her grandparents, John and Narcissa Bean in Tennessee, In 1910 my grandmother is in North Carolina and is married. I do not know where she was for 10 years. I am trying to find out. Maybe there was something one of the other children would know about Maud. She has no real brothers or sisters and thee is an interesting story as to her mother, Rosa Williams, and why she was raised by her grandparents. I would like to know the whole story.

The earliest record that I can find of Augusta P Bean is her marriage to Cyrus Charles Withers in Greenville, Tennessee in 1855. I can find many later census records placing her in Kansas and finally Nebraska. I am interested to locate a birth record or an earlier census prior to her marriage. My theory is that she is on a Cherokee roll and that is why I am having difficulty finding her or her parents or siblings. I am new to this process and haven't managed to find her death record or obit, which I believe may be in Nebraska. Any help in discovering information regarding my third great grandmother would be appreciated.

I believe the census where Elizabeth is the head of household, is the 1842 Census for St Andrews, Quebec. Asenath Bean & George Simeon Leroy were married in 1817 in Point Fortune, Ontario(or Quebec)We know the Leroys made a pitstop in New Brunswick in the late 1700s, but we do not know if Jeremiah & Elizabeth Bean did. According to the 1842 census Elisabeth Bean came to Canada in 1802-5. We are pretty sure that the Beans came from Deerfield, New Hampshire. Karen

My great grandmother was Nannie Bean. The children of her marriage to J. W. McAden were three: Van Elmo McAden, Clara McAden Clem and Francis Clem McAden (my grandfather). There were no other children of that union. After James W. McAden was killed, Nannie married Thomas Hawkins Sparks. That couple took in my great grandfather's children and raised them with the children that they then had.

I thank you for the Dallas County lead, but something tells me that Nannie and Hawk were not living together at the time of his death. I don't know if they were living apart when she died or what. He is buried in Iredell. I just can't find her.

No, I have not been able to find any information on Nannie Bean. I did find an 1880 Census of a Nannie Bean age 15 in a boarding school in Corsicana, TX. I'm not sure if it's the same one.

Was Thomas Sparks first wife Jane a sister of James Wm McAden? That was Nannie's first husband - they had three children - one of which Clara McAden Clem was my grandmother.

Melinda Clem Cooper

Nicki - I don't know how much info you have, but this is what I know. Thomas Hawkins Sparks was first married to Jane McAden, a widow. They had no children. Nannie was his second wife. They had 4 children: Charles, Elmo, Dulice, and David.

According to the records I have, Thomas died 2-14-1936 in Dallas County, TX. Have you tried looking there for Nannie?
