My name is Steve, my wifes Grandfather was Kenneth Beardmore who was your Grandads brother. You are correct in thinking Tom was his brother and that he was killed in action at Monte Casino. Tom had three children John, Tom and Patricia.John and his family live in New Zealand now, Tom lives in Bradley and Patricia lives in Weston Coyney. Patricia is my mother in law. Got loads of info on all of the Beardmores of this tree so if you want anymore info give me a shout on stevenmandy8@aol.com

My Grandfather was a Beardmore from Cheadle - George Beardmore died around 1986 Married Dorothy Evelyn Mason and im looking for any of his relations that can help fill in some blanks on that side of the family, he had a brother tom that got killed in italy during the war at Monte Cassino I think also had a few other brothers and a sister I think but not sure hope you can help or I can help you

i am currently trying to find a beardmore from wheelock near sandbach , cheshire. i know there was lilly beardmore and her dad was george who was married to a lady called sarah (i dont know her surname) cant find anything on sarah, do you know of or found anyone by these names?

i know lilly beardmore was married to thomas or tom witty (dates unknown) and died around 1950

Hello sorry but have no information however i am a Beardmore and was born in Farnworth (Bolton) i now live in Sleaford Lincolnshire so if your searches get you around the north west i may be able to fill in a few gaps as all my family still live in and around Bolton. hello - an update

On the 1911 census Eli Ward aged 16 is shown as adopted and living with Harry Beardmore aged 54 years a colliery contractor (underground) and his wife Mary Hannah Beardmore also aged 54. They are living at 31 Hope Street, Staincross.Which I think is in Doncaster.

I have discovered my ancestors are linked to the Beardmores. I am related to William Beardmore (b 1818) who married Phoebe Jevons in 16 Oct 1837 in Staffordshire. He was the son of William and Elizabeth. My research has led me to find that he had many brothers and sisters: William b 1840, Elizabeth b 1837, Walter b 1837 (twin of Elizabeth?), , Enoch b 1834, Sarah b 1831, Joseph b 1828, Esther b 1823, Mary b 1821, John b 1816, Benjamin b 1814. There may have been other siblings.

I would be interested in making contact, and sharing information, with anyone researching the Beardmores related to William and Elizabeth from Staffordshire.

My grandfather was Frank Beardmore, who I believe was the brother of your great grandfather Enoch. Frank married my grandmother Eliza Ann Blackburn in 1913.On their marriage certificate it states Frank's profession as boatman, and his father's name as Eli who was also a boatman.Their residence at the time of marriage was Clewlow's Bank Bagnall.They had three children Doris Ruth, Florence, and Ethel . Ethel was my mum but she liked to be called Effie. Frank died of pneumonia in 1926. He had changed his job and was working at Florence Colliery, where I believe he collapsed at work.Unfortunately my grandmother could not cope with all three girls, so the eldest was sent to live with her Aunty Florrie, who I think must have been Florence Beardmore, Frank and Enoch's sister. My aunty Doris used to take me, when I was a child, to see the cottage where she had once lived at Clewlow's Bank Bagnall.

you did not say where in staffordshire your Joseph Beardmore was born, if he is the father of Len Beardmore i may be able to help.

My Beardmore's are the boatman and family that worked the canals, they come from the wetley rocks, stanley moss, stockton brook, milton, etc areas of staffordshire.

Hi all,

Can anyone help me with Albert Beardmore born about 1868 to Eli Beardmore and Emma Goldstraw, he is shown on 1871 census as 3yrs old along with George 8mths.

Eli and Emma did not marry until 1870, so Albert was born out of wedlock, however, my difficulty is that i can not find him on any later census and have been unable to find a death for him either.

Would be most grateful for any help on this one as completely stumped!!

I just discovered this message board about Beardmores. Since I have never met anyone with the last name of Beardmore...this is fun. According to my Beardmore family tree, Enoch Beardmore (DOB 7/22/1833) had 5 sisters and 7 brothers including my great grandfather, Joseph Beardmore (DOB 10/19/1827, DOD 8/10/1916). The family tree also shows that Enoch married Sarah (or Phoebe?) Walker (DOB 1839?) on 4/18/1857. I am lucky enough to have a photo of Joseph and Enoch's parents, William and Elizabeth. A cousin is working on updating the family tree dating back to Edward Beardmore (DOB 1735?).
I'd be interested in what happened to Joseph's sons from his first marriage, Joseph Walter (DOB 1/14/1854) and Albert William (DOB 4/19/185?)

Might there be one among you who has knowledge of Mary Beardmore who married George Bonsall in the early 18th century? George was apparently engaged in the lead mining industry at Ecton in Staffordshire, and later in Cardiganshire. They were the progenitors of Richard, Samuel, Ralph, Joseph, and Thomas of whom the latter became "Sir Thomas Bonsall" at the hand of King George III on 16 Dec 1795, at St. George's Chapel, Windsor Castle.

Hi can anyone help me, I am looking for a Beardmore living around the Wybourn area, Maltraves, Cricket Inn Road area. My Grandfather used to visit them during the 1950's,60's with my father. My grandfathers name was Ernest Beardmore Thompson and his birth certificate shows no fathers name and I'm almost sure the Beardmore was his fathers name. Hey Nicky,

Yeah Mum mentioned the bodies, that's because Enoch and His Dad Eli were bargees they came across a few bodies in the canal, and they used to drag them out for the police. (wouldn't fancy that).
One of the family actually did a radio interview about life as a bargee (Alison told me who) i'll drag out the info when i get a chance (it would be intresting listening though).
I did hear that they met in london somewhere. But i do know they did get married in 1947 though as i was 10 years before Mum was born. I got the info from the BMD as i did most of my other dates.
I am having trouble finding out who Eli dad was though, i do have a few names but as yet i haven't been able tie them in birth wise.

I've been doing the Horsewood side on/off since I started doing family history way back when and have spoken to Carolyn Fenwick many times, so I do have a copy of that tree (unless she's changed it recently!).

Would be interested to learn anything you have about the Beardmores, as I said before, Dad didn't know his Grandad Beardmore's name, so I have struggled to get started on that side; when I mentioned it last night, Dad started telling me about how he (Enoch) used to have to drag bodies out of the canal and surround them with some kind of powder until the police/whoever arrived. And that Grandma Renee had a scar on her forehead from when one of the shirehorses kicked her (aged around 12). And yes, she was a driver in the Army, but we haven't got to where Grandma and Grandad met yet (in my quizzing).

Great to hear from you.
I have quite a bit of info now, with the help of Great Auntie Flo (nan's sister) Via Alison and Sue (thanks for that if you read this).
You might want to check out genes reunited as i have loads of info on there.
As you may have gathered from the message i posted i'm doing the Beardmore side but if you want the Horsewood side you should talk to Uncle David or Richard as they have made great progress with that.
If you contact my email address i can send you a copy of the horsewood tree going back to the 1700s that someone else doing the tree was working on.
also if you want beardmore tree info i'm on with compiling it at the moment but i can email some bits and pieces if you would like.

Irene Beardmore (my Nan) died 1975 three months after i was born.
I have been told by my mum that she was a great woman and i would love to know more about her.
As i understand it she was a driver in the army and she left stoke on trent where she grew up and when she joined up she was sent to london, she was also due to go to Africa on a mission but it was canceled as we were loosing too many ships in the channel then.
She met my grandad in london not sure if it was before or after he came back from war in burma. but they married and moved to York and had 6 kids one of which is my mum,
I'm Intrested to hear from anyone who remebers her or can give me any details about what she was like. or even details of what she was gonna do in africa.

Jeanne, there is a biography posted on the Waupaca County, Wisconsin board for a Francis Beardmore, born 1819 in England and came to America in 1850 with his father, also named Francis. There is also a biography for his brother Thomas who came here in 1848. Francis was married to my ggggrandmother after her first husband died. I can tell you where to see Francis' gravestone online. I hope this helps.

In my search for a William Beardmore that married Belle H.(Isabella) Philips(phillips) in Columbiana County OH in 1884, I found an Issac T (born 1864)and William F (born 1866)children of Issac and HESTER Ann Lotshaw. I found this information on FamilySearch,org. There is a submitter listed.
Do you have any evidence this could be the William I am looking for? The William I am looking for had 2 children, Nellie and Ross. Ross (my grandfather) was put up for adoption at the Alliance (Stark co. OH) Children's Home.

I have just been given information about Francis Beardmore, Father of Eli Beardmore and Grandfather to Enoch Beardmore.
What i have worked out so far is that he was born in 1820 he married Jane Fisher in 1840 and he died in 1864.

Edward Bingham married Mary Elizabeth Beardmore in 1856 in St Georges Hanover Square registration district. Her son, Edward Thomas Bingham, born Chelsea abt 1858 also married a Beardmore, Mary Jane, born Clifton, Bristol abt 1854, daughter of Samuel Beardmore.
If anyone knows more about these Beardmores I'd be grateful for further information.

If your Isaac Beardmore was born 24 May 1793 in Staffordshire England, died 1856, (parents Thomas Beardmore and Ann Kent) and who married Eleanor Powell and Susannah Carle then they may be part of my family who I have back to 1655.

Hi Angela, I'm Reene's Grandaughter i understand she had a lot to do with bringing up Peter and David.i've got quite a lot of info from various places Alison has given me the most (i dont know if you know her she's Flo's granddaughter.) i've got Enoch's father(Eli) and his mother(Emma) but i'm trying to find Eli's father and mother and would like some info about Eli or his parents if you can, or just some more names i can check out.

P.s I have a photo of my nan with one of the twins somewhere in my collection i can did it out if you like.

Also i have twins myself both boys the main reason i started the family tree was to trace any twins in the family are there anymore other than your dad and his brother?
