G'Day, I stumbled across this query. Are you still looking? Do you have family histories? My great great uncle William Deakin Becket was in the Imperial Light Horse during the Boer War. He was born in London and emigrated. It would be interesting to see where the earlier Beckets came from. I have some information about the family from Cheshire but we seem to be a fairly nomadic tribe having travelled to the four corners of the globe.

My gg grandfather was born in Australia in 1855 and his father's name is FREDERICK BECKE, I do not know his mothers name. I am not sure when his parents left england, but I do know that his father worked as a "Clerk of Petty Sessions" in New South Wales, Australia.

I would like very much to contact someone who knows this family as I have some 'loopholes' in my research.

I now have the 1861 census (RG 9 1912 p 12 and 13) which shows William Deakin Becket's father Richard Becket, his wife and children (Ann M, Clement, Sophia, Alfred) staying with John Merry and his wife. Richard and William Deakin are not present. Any help on this? Mike

I am searching for the family of these men. My father-in-law, up till recently, didn't know that the man that had raised him was not his biological father. He has some vague memories of another man but didn't realize the significance of these memories. After the death of his mother (his "father" passed away many years earlier) he started to realize some discrepancies. After speaking with some of his older family members it was revealed who his father was, Robert Beckett. These family members remember Robert being broght home to MN to visit but then all relations to Robert ceased. My father-in-law was born 14 March 1945 in Stockton,CA after his mother was discharged from the Navy. We believe Robert was at onetime in San Diego with her also in the military. We have found a picture of a man with 2 boys and on the back says "Bob, Bobby & David"; another photo shows a man in miliary "greens" holding a baby and the hand of a 2-3 yr old child. We have come to realize that it's possible that Robert and my father in law's mother were never married (some notes state they were but no record has been found) and they possibly had an affair. He doesn't want to cause any distress but would like to know about his father and siblings. Please contact me if any of this may be part of your family.

Looking for more information on CHarles (J. H.) Becket born in England and died between 1900 - 1910 in New Castle County, DE.
Married Rachel Caroline Thompson, dau of Wm. Alfred Thompson and Susan E. Webster.
They had several children, but census data shows only one survived, Charles Becket (born around 1883ish).He married a Rose or Rosa. I do not know if there were any children.

Just wanting to fill in some family dates/places esp. for the elder Becket and Rachel Caroline Thompson Becket.
Unknown when Rachel died and where Charles & Rachel are buried?
This is not my direct line, but I do have some ancestral information on the Thompsons and Websters - as Susan E. Webster Thompson is sister to my Webster ancestor.

in Peterborough, Canada and moved to Ohio about 1865. They had

Deborah, I appreciate your message. I have been able to find out that James W. Beckett's parents were Hugh and Janet Becket and that he had 12 siblings:
Hugh Francis Becket, Mary Becket, Thomas Becket, Agnes Becket, Jennie Becket, Frank Becket, John Becket, Maggie Becket, Sue Becket, Henry Becket, William Becket and Jeanie Becket.
I have been able to trace Janet Becket back along the Fife lineage and have brought some of the sibling families forward. Is this the group you have information on? I would be

I am looking for information on James Wallace Becket (who changed his name
to Beckett sometime prior to 1889). He was born in Peterborough, Canada in about
1862 and had seven siblings: Henry Becket, Frank Becket, Thomas Becket, John Becket,
Mrs. West Dodd, Mrs. Jeanie Dodd, and Mrs. Albert Carlile. He moved to Cambridge, OH
and then moved to Spokane, WA in 1889. He died in 1940. Any help with his
