Charles Elmer Bedal

Looking for descendants of Charles Elmer Bedal and Mary Edna (Bashor). I don't have dates for him, but she was born Dec. 23, 1892 (Linn County, Oregon) and died in September 1965 somewhere in California. Among their children were Howard E. Bedal (1911-1973); Noah Franklin Bedal (1913--2002); and Charles W. Bedal (1916--1992). I believe there were more children as well.

My grandmother Anna May (Bashor) Britain was a sister to Mary Edna Bedal. I have inherited a great many family pictures, including many family pictures of Charles & Edna (as she was known), and of at least Howard and Franklin when they were little. Recently, I have come across pictures of "Jimmy & Barbara Bedal's 9 children"--looks like 6 girls and 3 boys--and I assume that Jimmy is a grandchild of Charles & Edna. I would love to find descendants of Charles & Edna Bedal (would also like to find descendants of the other sister, Winnie Blanchet) and would be thrilled to share this bounty of pictures that I have. I will not let originals out of my possession, but I have a scanner, a photo printer, and the internet, and I'm not afraid to use them!

Hi! I'm looking for information regarding an Issac Bedal, born about 1743 and died about 1825. His son was Issac J. Bedal (1817-1881), his grandson was William Y Bedal (1847-1929). I believe Issac was married to a Rachel Ferguson (born about 1791) but could be wrong. Any information on Rachel Ferguson would be welcome as well. I am not sure where Issac Bedal was born; I have heard Wales, but am not sure if this pertains to his country of birth or whether it indicates a community name. Thanks!!!

Hello! You mention that you have an obit for a William Young Bedal, who was my great, great, great grandfather (if you are speaking of the William Young Bedal who was born in 1847 and died in 1929). I know he was married to a Margaret MacLeod, and have some information about her, as well as their children. Their son Leonard Francis Bedal, their grandson Leonard James Bedal, and their great-grandson Raymond William Bedal(my grandfather) is the line my ancestry follows. I also know about William Young Bedal's parents and grandparents, if you don't have that information (his grandfather, Isaac Bedal born in 1743 is where this line ends on my tree). I'd love to see that obit if it's at all possible! Let me know... Thanks!!!

Oops. No, Charles Franklin Bedal died in 1919, not 1819.

I don't know if Bert Craven (Jessie Donley's third husband) and Dora Edith Craven (William Bedal's third wife) were related. Bert was born in England and married Jessie between 1914 adn 1920. Dora was born in Oregon. She was married to Joseph Alonzo Riggs before she married William.

The date I have for Dora's marriage to William comes from a retyped copy of her obituary. It says they married 5 Dec 1928, but that is after William died. They may have married 12 May 1928, but that is just a few weeks before he died (in a car accident, I think).

Jessie married Homer Earl Howard on 12 Oct 1929. I don't know if Bert had died or if she had divorced him. Her first husband (Jessie Ellen and Thelma D.'s father) was William B. Kimmel.

Hello Stephan Handorf-Sounds like there is definately a connection in the Bedal line, Jessie Bedal was the youngest of William A. Bedal, My Mother was Mary Agnes, and there was Helena. I have the obit of great grandfather William Young Bedal. I also have a detailed list of where each of William A. Bedal's siblings eventually settled. Need your address to give you some particulars. Winola

Hi Winola,

I was very glad to see your posting. Just last week I got some information about William A. Bedal from a Tulsa, OK, funeral home and figured out who he was. His brother Isaac may have gone to Winnipeg (I know there was a Bedal out west somewhere), but he eventually ended up in Toledo, Ohio, where some of his descendants still live. Brother Leonard stayed in Ontario, I think. I don't know anything about the sisters other than their names (Clara and Alice).

The parents of these people were William Y. and Margaret Bedal. William's parents were Isaac J. and Matura Tubbs Bedal. Isaac's parents were Elias and Rachael Ferguson Bedal. Elias's brother was another Isaac--my great-great-great-great grandfather. Their father was also an Isaac, but that's as far back as I go.

I have been collecting information about all the Bedals and would love to have more information about your branch.

Not sure if there is a connection, but my grandfather Was William A.Bedal born in Ontario,Canada. He had 2 sisters, and 3 brother, Issac, James and Leonard, all born in Canada. This may be lead for your family. I believe one of the brothers Possibly Isaac settled in Winnipeg, and perhaps his branch settled in Idaho. Hope this is helpful.

Steve

Several months ago someone contacted me about the Galloway and Bedal families around Berlin, Wisconsin. In any event I just went through Wisconsin and stopped at Pine Grove Cemetery, Auroraville, Waushara County, Wisconsin and found the gravestone of Adeline Bedal Galloway, wife of Charles Galloway. She was born December 11, 1840 and died Feb. 5, 1898 and is buried next to her husband, Charles Galloway, and their children Wm Henry and Nettie May Galloway.

Hattie Bedal b. ca 1868 Minn-->Ia--> Colo-->Idaho?

I was looking at some old U.S. censuses yesterday and found a Hattie Bedal (daughter of Isaac and Cynthia Bedal) in the 1880 Sunshine, Boulder Co., Colorado Census. She was 12 years old at the time and had been born in Minnesota. I think the family later moved to Idaho. I don't know if this is your Hattie or not, but I have a lot more information about Isaac and his ancestors if you're interested.

One of the lines in my last posting disappeared. Anyway, I wanted to say that the Gerow family is very well documented online (Nancy Gerow was Isaac Bedal's mother) back to the mid 1700s when the family first came over from France. I'm sure the family genealogist, Gail Gerow Sellers would love to have any information about Hattie's descendants. Her email address is:

Ggsellers@aol.com

My great great great grandfather, Elias Bedal, was a brother to your grandfather, David, and to the Isaac who moved to Idaho. Elias and Isaac served together in the Civil War in a Minnesota Regiment along with their brother-in-law, Gabriel Huff. David and the oldest brother, Andrew, served in Wisconsin units. Only brother Cornelius did not serve.

It would be great to hear from you.

Hattie Bedal

Hattie Badal was my ggrandmother. She was born
20 Jul 1867 in Cedar Center,,MN Died 12 Mar 1952
in Boise, Ada Cnty, Idaho. I show her father to be
Isaac Bedal and her mother was Cynthia Henshaw
She married Thomas C. Mayne in 1884 and they
had a ranch North of Boise. I am sure this is
Hattie I was seeking info on. In a cemetery
in Boise there are tombstones for Isaac and
Cynthia Bedal, Oliver Bedal, Tina M. Bedal,
James I Bedal and William Bedal. I do not know
how these other Bedal's are related. I would
appreciate any info.
