Loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, & Great-grandmother Evelyn R. Bedlow, age 88, a resident of Niagara Village, was lovingly surrounded by her family when she passed away Thursday, February 11, 2010 from an extended illness at Select Specialty Hospital. She was born July 21, 1921 in Erie, daughter of the late Paul and Martha Grace Briggs Barnes. Evelyn was blessed with a loving family and friends. She and her husband Bob were married for 63 years. Evelyn was a graduate of Academy High School and worked at Kroger's Market, Talon, and General Electric. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel and formerly in the Ladies Guild. She was a past member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Siebenbuerger Club. Through her life she enjoyed traveling with her husband, making ceramics, playing bingo and cards with her friends, and spending time with her family. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. Bedlow;
brothers, Robert C. Barnes and Paul G. Barnes; and a sister, Lenora Barnes. Survivors include her daughter, Bonnie Johnson (Jim) of McKean; her son, Robert Bedlow of Erie; grandson, James R. Johnson (fiancé Kari Stiles) of Girard; granddaughter, Jennifer R. Johnson of Erie; and three great-grandchildren, Brady, Madelynn and Mayley. Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., East, 2607 Buffalo Road on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to attend a Prayer Service there on Tuesday at 10:15 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Mount Carmel R.C. Angeline M. ____?_________ was born in CT about 1843 and wed Henry, perhaps in NY in 1895.

not much except from what I hear when everyone gets together..Bedlow is on my mother side she was my moms great grandmother she bore 2 childern a russel and sally Fenn... Russel is my moms grandfather....I also know they were related to the applegates..... The granfather (Russel) was born in 1883 or 93 Do you have any info that may be of some intertest to me

Hi Kim - Interesting story. I guess that you know that Bedlo Island is Liberty Island. Is it your Mom's line that descends from the Bedlows? Do you know anything about your grandparents or any other info on your Bedlow line? Linda

Just wondering if a family story I always hear is true??? There was a boat race around bedlow island between a bedlow and a vanderbuilt...Bedlow didn't win I'm not really sure of all the family history but I know we are related from bedlow, to I guess then fenn,to my mom which is De Graw any one knowing some names in between or of the family tree pls write........

Maria Bedlo was born & baptized 8/10/1709, daug of Isaac Bedlo (born 1686) & Susanna Maria Brasier (born 1686). Isaac was the son of Isaac Bedlo & Hermina Groenendael Isaac & Susanna were married July 14, 1705 in NYC. In addition to Maria they had the following children: Susanna Maria Bedlo, baptized 4/29/1711; Hermina Bedlo, baptized
9/24/1713; Isaac Bedlo, baptized 2/29/1716; Hendrikus Bedlo, baptized 3/1/1721.
Susanna married Hendrick Poulusse (Paulsze) July 15, 1733.
Maria married Samuel Hoffmire about 1730
Isaac married Hester Glieves July 26, 1737 NYC.

I am looking for any information on Maria Bedlow chr. 1709 - Reformed Dutch Church, NY, NY who married Samuel Hoffmire about 1730. They were from Monmouth Co., NJ. Her parents on the christening record - Isaac Bedlow and Susanna Brajor. I am looking for more information on her parents and siblings. Thank you.
