If you want you can email me directly at ruckus88@juno.com.

Rhonda

Wonderful Information Site to Look Up Beecroft, Becraft, Etc. Family

A man by the name of Robert J. Becraft has done a wonderful job researching the Beecroft and other spelling of the name on his genealogy site. It's free, this is how you get to it:

Type in your search engine The Becraft Genealogy Page (my search engine is Yahoo). When the list site comes up look for Becraft-Genealogy Page (castleworks/fortune city .com) and click on it.

Site will come up with a box to your left, click on LINES. Click on skip ad and scroll down until you find THE ENTIRE DATA BASE in pink letters and click on it. Next screen click on SURNAME LIST and pick the spelling of Beecroft, etc. you want to research. Click on that and it will take you to individual first names to look for. Good luck.

I'm still looking for Zelma Minnie Cooper b. 1912 Tennessee to Jarvis William Cooper and Sarah Jane Beecroft (Thomas Beecroft and Jane Toppers daughter). I've found the rest of the family but not her probably because I don't have her married name. If anyone can help please e-mail at allnmth9498@sbcglobal.net You will love the above site.
Lela Mathews

Beecrofts in Scotland

I am tracing my Beecroft ancestors who originated from Yorkshire and who moved the the Scottish borders (Hawick) c.1840s. They then loved to Kilsyth in Stirlingshire and and later to Lanarkshire, I believe in the 1860s. For the 1881 and 1891 census they are at Auchenraith Colliery, Blantyre with the heads of family being Miners. By c.1915 they had moved to Bo'ness. In between 1901 and 1911 I believe they lived in Lesmahagow. James Beecroft, my great great grandfather, died in a mine roof fall on 16 July 1881 age 37. He was born in Hawick in 1844 and was married in Glasgow on 7 Oct 1863 to Sarah McNeil. She later was re-married to another Miner, Samuel White, and died on 13 July 1922 at 48 Watson Street, Blantyre. If anyone has information that may assist me in my search I'd be very keen to hear from them. There are very few Beecrofts in Scotland so if you have any information please contact me.

Martin

Thanks Helen for the reply, this may be a connection. My greatgrand father was John Beecroft born I believe in the month of April (or Aug.) 17, 1859, his mother was Elizabeth and father was Matthew according to his death certificate. I'm uncerttain of the exact month of his birth due to the poor hand writting on his death certificate, but I'm certain of the dates and parents name. Do you have any other family information you can share with me? Thank You

Although the 1901 census clearly states that Harry is born in India, that is probably wrong.
In 1901 Harry almost certainly is in the household of his sister Martha BEERCROFT and brother-in-law James Charles Allen, who were married in 1871 (reg. Lexden). Both Martha and Harry were children of Robert Beercroft and his wife Martha Crosby and were born in Fingringhoe, Essex.

My husband's great great uncle was Frederick Beecroft. We have family info on the whole family, done by word of mouth in the 1960's and 1970's with no sources, but lots of names and dates.
Our info states that Violet Ruby and Lillie Pearl (twins) were the youngest daughters of Frederick Ebenezer Beecroft and Florence Rose Padgham. They were born 19 Sept 1906. Lillie Pearl died 20 Sept 1906 and the only death date we have for Violet is 1959, no place recorded.
Do you have any death dates and data for the rest of the children? We have 8 in total (counting the twins).
By the way, twins were very common in the Beecroft family and did not skip generations until my husband's ( the fifth generation when you count Frederick's father John as the first generation).
Hi Mary Beth - Thank you for your response.

These entries look suspiciously similar to my data, with some slight variations. I also used your info to check the IGI at familysearch.org, where I found the marriage info you cited.

One thing of interest is that Mary WARDLOW's parents are Andrew and Martha FLUSCH. Mary was 21 years of age when she married Charles BEECRAFT, age 22.

In my version Charles H. BEECROFT marries Anna Mary FLASH, daughter of Andrew FLASH and Martha CARSON. Their first child, Charles H., was born 1865 in NJ, so the assumption was they married before that time. I feel confident that this is the same couple. What's puzzling is why Anna "Mary" is called WARDLOW? We had no knowledge of a prior marriage, if that's what this proves to be. I personally don't see how WARDLOW and FLASH/FLACH can be mistaken in terms of handwriting.

I also show that Anna Mary (Flash) BEECROFT died 01 Dec 1888 at 138 Monmouth St., in Trenton, New Jersey. She was 47 years of age, b. in the US, parents Andrew and Martha FLASH. Your data showing a death date of 29 Nov 1888 for Anna "Mae" BEECROFT is almost the same. We have to be talking about the same person. (My date is from her gravestone in Riverview Cemetery from a photo courtesy of a cousin in New Jersey, and from her death record.)

Here's some more info on Charles H. BEECROFT - from his gravestone in Riverview Cemetery. It says:
Born March 20, 1840
Service in War From
1863 to 1865 [Note - not sure of the last digit, 3, in 1863]
Co. D, First N.J. Cavalry
Died July 8, 1914.

Thank you again for your response re: the earlier generations! I will re-read all of your postings, now that I know of a connection to those generations. I may have more questions later. Dawn

Hi - Does this BEECROFT family have any relationship to Charles H. BEECROFT, b. ca. 1839 in New Jersey/New York, m. Anna Mary FLASH/FLACH? Their children, all born New Jersey were Charles H., Emily C., John H., Adaline.

Charles H. BEECROFT [Sr.] was enumerated in Trenton, Mercer Co., New Jersey in 1870, 1880 and 1900. Also found there in city directories in 1877, 1881, 1882. He died in Trenton 09 Jul 1914, age 75, buried Riverview Cemetery.

I understand Jacob BEECROFT was also buried at Riverview.

There was a John BECROFT/BEECROFT of Nottingham Twp., Mercer Co., New Jersey in 1839 who was b. in England ca. 1816, emigrated when a minor, who was attempting to become naturalized. A George BEECROFT appeared and testified on John's behalf. Relationship between them unknown to me.

Do you have anything further to help sort these people out?

Dawn

Harriet passed away on 16 February 1927.

Are any of you related to Beecrofts that could be related to Harriet? Any of you related to Beecrofts of Minnesota?

William Kernan

Becrafts of Rackland, New York

I am looking for information on Becrafts who lived in Rockland, New York from at least the 1770s. The earlest information I have is John Beeraft (b. abt 1770 in Hempstead, Rockland, New York; d. bef. 1860 in Ramapo, Rockland, New York). He was married to Martha (b. abt 1774 in New York; d. bef. 1860). He had a least 3 sons, Henry (b. 1796; d. bef. 1880), John (b. abt 1798; d. aft. 1880), & William (b. abt 1810; d. bef. 1880). Henry is my 4th great grandfather. Any information on additional children John may have had or who his parents and siblings might have been would be very helpful. Thank you!
