Eldora was the mother of my mother's best friend, Adele Texier Caroli for whom I am named. She (Eldora) was divorced from Leonce Texier in NJ and moved back to NY. Adele's husband Homer died at the Battle of the Bulge and Adele died shortly after from, according to my mother, Hodgkins Disease. My mother and Adele shared a pram and I knew her well. "Aunt" Eldora was also known to me along with some ladies named Bertha and Addie.

I realize that I am responding to an inquiry that is nine-years old but if the inquirer, or anyone else for that matter, is still interested I believe that I have an authentic Beekman coat of arms. It was given to me approximately forty years ago by my uncle (long deceased) whose mother (and my paternal grandmother) descended from the Beekman and VanDyke lines. Perhaps I could scan it and send it out to whomever might be interested.

Arlo Dean Cummings born in 1900 in Ohio and died in Greene Ohio in 1974.

His parents were

Wilbur Addison Cummings
Nellie Mae Hutslar

they too were born and died in Ohio.

Mina Ethel Beekman was born in Ohio in 1894 and died ? in Greene Ohio. Her parents were.

Alfred Beekman born in 1861 in Scioto,Ohio and died in champagne, Ohio

Anna Lula swords was born in 1876 in Ohio and died in Madison,Ohio

My Grand father (1900-1974) Arlo Dean Cumming and he was married to Mrs. Mina Ethel Beekman (1894-1982)both being married till God called them home.They had 2 sons that I know of and are both deceased as well Ronald Lee Cummings (1931-1998) and Marlin Dean Cummings (1929-?)I am part of Ronald's family and trying to find any and all of my family members especially sister's,brothers,cousins,aunts and uncles from both my Beekman family as well as my Cummings family. any help will be greatly appreciated.

Sorry folks, I haven't renewed the GEDCOMS etc. on my site for quite awhile, but I do not see any Whitakers in the line of Beekman, John Race or otherwise. The colonial Beekmans are pretty much set, but just in case, if you have Jane Keteltas BEEKMAN I misspelled her last name as Kettletas. John Race Beekman and wife are buried in Redkey,Jay Co. just inside Indiana border from Ohio. a couple counties over in Grant County John Davis Beekman and wife,son Eli and wife[Beekman/Union cem] and William at IOOF in Marion and Chet at Mt Calvary Catholic cem in Huntington. My great great great grandmother was Mariah (Reumarah) Beckman (could be Beekman) who married a William Whitaker. One on line reference states her father was John Beekman.? I do have a refernce that John R Beekman was a War of 1812 Veteran. Any info?

Have you ever discovered what E. stands for in E. Lewis? Married to John so surely there is some record SOMEWHERE with her first name on it. Do you think she came from VA also. He seems to have went to KY then up into the new lands in OHIO across the Ohio River. Now this was a really wild time there in 1787 and John Race Beekman [where did Race] come from? He was very early pioneer into Jay Co. IN. I descend from Eli H Beekman in Grant Co. where they seemed to go on to. I have visited the graves of John Race and wife in Redkey. Geneva Beekman, 95, of Swan Creek Retirement Village, passed away unexpectedly in her sleep on Saturday, December 26, 2009.

She was born February 2, 1914, in Lexington, Kentucky and was the daughter of Henry and Bessie Lawson.

Geneva worked for the Federal Government, in Washington, D.C. during WWII and was employed with the law firm, Cubbon and Associates in Toledo, Ohio for 34 years, retiring in 1990. She was a longtime member of Collingwood Presbyterian Church, Women's Educational Club and the Eleanor Kahle Senior Center.

Survivors include her son, AF Col. (Ret.) William D. (Donna) Beekman of Dayton, Ohio; grandchildren, Katy Beekman and AF Capt. Brian (Kerri Gaymon) Beekman; step-son, Matthew (Elizabeth Winfield)) Espy and great-grandson, Dexter Espy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Merle W. Beekman, in 1957.

Friends are invited to visit from 12 Noon until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m., Tuesday, in the Ansberg-West Funeral Home, 3000 Sylvania Avenue.

Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Collingwood Presbyterian Church. Online condolences may be made at: www.ansberg-west.com

I am descended from John Allen -John Race-Eli-William S.-Chester William Beekman,who is my Father. I just lose the thread at Jay County with John Race and his death. There is that space between John Race Beekman and John Allen. John Allen I figure came west maybe with his mother and some of his family? His sister Catharine remarried also after husbands death in VA and came west also but I have a blank From Christophers dieing from smallpox in NJ and Sarah's remarriage,going south to VA with her daughter Catharine and her husband. Somehow we all ended up here in Ohio and then Indiana!

My grandfather John C. Rhoades, had a sister, Nancy Jane Rhoades, who married an Ira Beekman b-March 23, 1860 in Pike Co, OH. John & Nancy Rhoades's father Levi Rhoades, lived in Benton Twp, Pike Co, OH.
Ira & Nancy Beekman had four children Silas, Jake, Bertha & Ezra. I am trying to network with my Grandfathers siblings families.

Looking for information on Neeltje and Jacob Beekman who arrived at Ellis Island Dec. 18th, 1919 from Rotterdam, Holland.
Neeltje b. Feb 14, 1889 Rotterdam Holland d. Nov. 9, 1961 in Piscataway, New Jersey
Jacob Beekman b. March 5, 1889 Rotterdam Holland d. Aug. 4th, 1973, Piscataway, New Jersey
Neeltje and Jacob were cousins married in abt. 1908.
Children: Esther, b. abt. 1912 - Henduna, b. abt. 1914 - William, b. 1919 - Jacob, b. 1924

Relatives known living in Vlaardingen, Holland as late as 1951.
Family history says other family members came to US with Peter Stuyvesant. Would like to prove the link.
Any information would be helpful.
