The reservation you talk of in North Dakota, is not actually the name of a reservation but rather the name of the town. This town was named after my great uncle but several generations back. He walked from Canada to the town to teach the indians Christianity.

Hi, my name is Rose-Aline Belcourt.
Gilberte was my father's sister.
I just noticed your post this week so you might already have all the info you were looking for.
The Belcourt genealogy has been done right back to France and so have the Trottier -the first ancestor.
Both books have been published.
A small one by Robert Serré (my spouse) called:"Les ancêtres paternels de Gérard Belcourt`et de Jeanne Marchand"

There is a large book:"Généalogies des familles Trotier-Trottier... etc en Amérique" by Jean-Guy Sauvageau.
I think that both are available in libraries.I own both (Ottawa) and so does my brother(Penetanguishene).
Hope this helps,
Rose-Aline

Amanda,

I have information on the descendents of Antoine Belcourt and Victoire St.Cyr. My husbands great-grandfather is their son Onezime, which would be Georges brother. I have a few dates of Mary Anne, Yvonne and Onezime. Would love to share some information. kresch@mts.net

So far I only have information on Jules Trottier after he brought his family to North America. No luck so far on the family history in France. On the Belcourt's this is a dit name for the Trottier's. One of Jules Grandsons, Francois Marie Trottier dit Bellecour (1679-1744) was the first to use it. He married Marie Anne Gouin (1684-1713) on 6 feb 1703 at Ste-Anne de Perade. His second wife was Marie Francoise Mercereau (1695-1750) on 12 april 1714. In time the name Bellecour became Belcourt

He (George) is the brother of Onezime, who is the grandfather of my husband. George was married to Kathleen Morrisson, correct? I would love information on this family, as I only have these two names no dates. Also would love the extended family for him ie)children with spouses and children. I can send you a site which has info on the Belcourts. You can send your email to kresch@mts.net and I'll forward that info.

Is your grandfather the brother of Antoine, George would have been born Aug 24 1884? Or is George the son of Antoine your grandfather?

I have a family tree with the name Jules Trotier on it (the name on the Family tree was spelled Trotier). It was created for my Great Great Grandparents marriage in 1868. It goes back 7 generations. Jules Trotier was one of the first names on the Family Tree. It looks to have been created by a priest or someone with calligraphy skills. I only have a black and white version. Do you have something similar?

Recently my mother (a Belcourt from North Dakota) gave me a copy of a Family Tree created for Joseph Lugdger Belcourt and Margurite Proulx marriage of 1868. It looks to have information back 7 generations on both sides. It has the Trotier (Jules)name on it. Spelled Jules Trotier dating from the early 1600's. My Mother's family is from La Baie de Fevre, Quebec CA; They moved to North Dakota 1890's.

Wilbroad Belcourt - B 7/19/1870 to Joseph Ludgar Belcourt and Marguerite Proulx. Rosalie DeMars(no parental history that I have found) - B 11/25/1880. Wilbroad and Rosalie married 9/06/1893. They had 15 Children. Both are buried in ND. Wilbroad in Towner, Rosalie in Westhope. All sons had a first name "Josehph" including your grandfather Mark. My Grandfather Rudy was the youngest son.(He was Joseph Rudolf) He died this past February in Grandforks ND, he was almost 91. My mom (Rudy's oldest daugher)gave me a copy of a photo taken in 1911. At that time Wilbroad and Rosalie had 9 children. Mom also let me make a copy of a Belcourt Family Tree dating back to the early 1600's. We both live in Washington State- I can be contacted at lsherve@hotmail.com

Can anyone identify the parents of Seraphine Belcourt (sometimes "Bellecour") born about 1827? She married Francois Trottier of Ste Genevieve-de-Batiscan about 1852. She does not appear in the records of Ste Genevieve until 1853. The marriage does not appear to have taken place in Ste G -de-Batiscan. The couple had several children and moved to Connecticut in or after 1862.

Hello, I am looking for information on the family of Dan Belcourt. He is my great grandfather and he would have been born around 1879. He was married to Mary Bruneau (Collins). He had a brother named Alex and they lived for awhile around Choteau, MT. When the Rocky Boy reservation was formed he was determined to be eligible for enrollment and was their first Tribal judge. His children were: Levi, Gilbert, Elmer, Edward, Dorothy, Stella and David. I am looking for information on Dan Belcourt parents and if there were any other siblings.
