I am looking for information about my Great grand father Charles L. Bellar his father was named Nelson Bellar. He was married to a Mary Spaulding ( 2nd ) Marriage I think the originated in Southern Illinois and ended up somewhere is Ravenden Springs/Hoxie Arkansas, Any information would be greatly helpful.

I am a decendant of Lassie Bellar. Her father was John Bellar married to Nancy Durham. I do have too much information on this line. Any information would be great to receive.

My grandmather was Addie Tramel (Summers). She had stated that her mother's name was Lassie Bellar was her mother in TN.

Any information you can provide to me would be helpful.

My G-Grandfather was James Bellar who married Lona (lonie) (Allonia) who had several children. One was my g-father Herman who married Azalee Choate from Dickson, tn. I am having a hard time tracing James back any further than Ada, Ok which I found online. I have some documents that say he was part Cherokee? perhaps

My Grandfather is L. D. Bellard. His name was Louis Daniel and Elendora Gaybrella was his sister and my Grand Aunt. I have no information about another brother, J. Marsene or sister, P. L., whom I think her first name was Pearl. I'm not sure. On Gabriel Landrum, he is buried in the Landrum family cemetery in Fannett, Texas.

I am the g-g-g-grandson of Andrew Jefferson Beller and was wondering if you had any documentation; birth, marriage or death certificate; showing who Andrew's father was. I have an inkling but just no proof.

I would also love to see a picture of him. I have pictures of his son John W. and grandson Delbert Rufus.

Hello!
I am a G- G grandaughter as well. I actually have the marriage certificate of Andrew J. Beller (not ar because of the name change during the war) and Mary E. Troutman. I also have the civil war discharge papers on Andrew J. with the old spelling. The stroy of how the family name got changed was told by my great uncle for years! Let me know if you want copies of these. I have many tin types of one of the wives and Andrew.
My maternal grandmother is daughter to Earl, son of Andrew.

Hey, My grandfather was Herman Bellar and his mothers name was Lona. My mother is named after her. They were from Dickson but I don't know where they came from orginally. My uncle James ( supposed to be named after our ggg) says that he thought they came from ARK or TX so I am sure we are part of the same Bellar clan. Give me an email.

My great grandmother's name was Mary Florence Victoria Bellar (b. Jul 1873 in Tennessee) who m. (1889) David Patrick Erwin (b. Feb 1863 in South Carolina). They lived in Covington, Tipton County, Tennessee, where all of their children were born.

I only have deductions of before then, since the people I need to verify information have now been deceased.

I do not know if my great grandmother had brothers and sisters. I find her living with her grandparents, Ira E and Lucy Wingate Jones in the 1880 US Census in District 2, Shelby, Tennessee. I do not know if my great grandmother's mother was Mahala (Mabala, Mahaly). I have not located the first name of my great grandfather (Bellar) as yet, however I have guestimated that my great grandparents were married approximately 1870. I guestimate his birth year to be 1850, possibly born in Willow Springs, Howell County, Missouri.

I have been unsuccessful in locating my great grandparents on any of the US Census nor any recording of their marriage.

Additionally, I have been unsuccessful in locating the actual marriage date for my grandparents. I have guestimated their date as 1889, just before their first child, William Perry Erwin, was born in 2 November 1890. My granmother's other sibling was Minnie Florence Erwin (b. 07 Aug 1895). My grandmother, Nora(h) Annie Erwin was born 10 March 1892.

I know that Mary Florence Victoria Bellar (Erwin) was my great grandmother from the affidavit that was signed by my grandmother Nora(h) Annie Erwin Phillips (some of the spellings of my grandmother's first name was Nora and others was Norah) back on the 23rd September 1957 in a sworn statement to prove her age, name and birth (this was in lieu of a birth certificate). My great grandmother died in Covington, Tennessee in 1954 (I have a receipt for a floral wreath that was sent by my grandmother to Maley Funeral Home in Covington, Tennessee), but have been unable to locate the actual date.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I was just researching my Bellar/Sliter/Woodruff Trees, and ran across some Coffey names.
My grand mother was Maryann Daisy Turley Bellar, my grand father is Albert Richard Bellar. They are from Boliver, as you may know. I will look in my tree for your family member.

Marslange Bellard married Lavina Landrum 1-22-1868 in Jefferson County, Texas. They had one Child, the death certificate spells it as Elendera Bellard. Elendera married Peter Raines from Llano, Texas. They lived in Texas shortly then moved to Elmore City, Oklahoma where they had their children, including my Grandmother Effie Mae Raines. I posted this originally 3 years ago and I don't feel I'm any closer to finding my Bellars! The only place I find them is in the 1880 Census indexed next to Gabriel Landrum, Levina's parents. All the children's names are just initials......AUGH! It's a shame I have ONE of their children's names, my Great Grandmother Elendora....I have no idea where the parents or siblings are or where they're buried! Anyone with any help will be most appreciated. Yes I'm aware there are other notes on here about the same and we're still not any further than when posted years ago! Thanking you in advance

My name is Nancy Hypes. My fathers' name is Warren Bellar. He and my mother divorced when I was about one years old. They got together briefly and my mother got pregant again with my sister. She was given out for adoption and I didn't know about her until I was 35 years old. I have found her and we are close. I have heard that our father remarried (maybe twice since) and that I may have other sisters and a brother. I have always wanted to find our father. And them. He has a brother named Howard, Art, and some sisters. I would have loved to have known his mother. One sister, when I was real little came and got me to take me downtown to meet the grandmother. The sister would have been about 16 years old. If the Warren Beller that you have written about is him, I am sorry that I didn't get to meet him before he passed away. I would still like to find his other children.

Betty Rohrer lived and born Ohio and married Russell Bellar and lived in Los Angelas Co California and she died 1983 and has a daughter Bonnie L. born 1963,Betty has a brother Bill from New York! Thats all i have??? Diane

You don't have quite enough information to start with but it would be really easy to get more with just a small amount of work. First, the Social Security Death Index is online. You can google it.

Given the information you have, that's where I would suggest that you start. Looking up John Robert Bellar, I find his birth and death dates. He died Jan 10, 1998 in Greenbrier, Robertson, Tennessee and was born Nov 3, 1928.

Using this information you can request a death certificate on him. It may show his birth parents names. You'll be able to use that information to start tracing him and your ancestors.

Here is the information you need in order to request the death certificate: Tennessee Vital Records

Here is what the Tennessee site says about the vital records:
Death records are available for the past 50 years. The fee is $7.00 per certified copy. The cause of death is not normally included on a certified copy unless specifically requested and then is available only to certain family members or legal representatives.

I would also suggest that you talk to family members. Someone may have kept a bible with family births, deaths and marriages. There may be old pictures, newspaper clippings, remembrance cards, etc. The real secret is in finding the right relative to ask. The older the relative is, the better your chances at striking gold.

I have researched my husband's family which are Beller's. At one point in the history of the surname, they all spelled their names Beller, but half started spelling it Bellar. They are farmers from Ohio and beyond. The name traces to the 1700s to Jacob Beller in South Carolina.

Good luck in your hunt. I hope you are able to find what you are looking for and I hope this has been helpful.

He died in Robertson County TN in 1998 and was born around 1929 but not sure if in Robertson. He married Lucy Hammond and had seven children of (2 deceased). Any information could be useful.

I have just discovered the following information and would love to hear if this rings a bell with anyone. My grandmother's name is Bessie Mae (LAND), b: November 8, 1909. Her parents were Albert Haywood LAND and Bertha Mahalia (BELLAR) LAND married December 10, 1908 in Galveston, TX. I have been told Bertha's parents were Albert Richard BELLAR and Mary Ann Daisy (TURLEY) BELLAR.

My g-g-grandmother was Mary (Mollie) Cronea. Her 1/2 sister Mahala Cronea b about 1837 married Paul Bellar (I've seen where he was born in MS and also 1828 New Orleans, LA) 12-23-1853 in Jefferson County Texas. His parents were Michel Bellard b 1785 d 1866 and Francoise Gallien b 1806 d 1867. Michel's parents were Antoine d 2-12-1805 Opelousas, LA and Francoise Gallien b 1747 Acadia, d before 1798. This is all info I got from the internet and I don't know how accurate it is. They are probably related. I work a couple of blocks from the Tyrell Historical Library in Beaumont and have just started doing some research there. If there is something specific you want me look up, I will try.

I am looking for any information on John Bellar of Robertson Co. Tn. He married Nancy Durham, daughter of John Durham and Harriett Davis. John Bellar was born 18 Aug 1857 and died 29 July 1923.
