I am desperately trying to find my ancestors named Belleville. My brother, now deceased, sent me a list of names and on that list are persons listed this way:

I Belleville, Jean (See Barthe, vol II p 133)
m July 8, 1707 at Varennes

[to] Chaudillon, Marie-Charlotte b. 1676 (dau of Antoine I;
widow of Joseph Desautels) bur Apr. 27, 1760 at Laraltrie (7)
(The record of her burial gives her age as 100 years, but she was not over 84.)

The above information was from Bk 30:3-9
L'Abbe Cyprian Tanguey "Dictionaire Genealogique des Familles Canadiennes", 7 Vol. 1886

Would these be ancestors of any Bellevilles from Montreal, Canada--my grandfather was Alphonse Belleville. (Father may have been named Theophile). He married Hermeline Laurin and they had my father, Simeon Armand Joseph Georges in 1893 in St. Cunegonde parish in Montreal.

I do have other information (word of mouth from an aunt-now deceased) that Bellevilles were regstered as the English Bellevilles in Toronto. Belleville sisters in Toronto are listed as: Roseanna, Eugenie, Anne (Mrs. Anna Hardy) and Marie Louise.

Could there be any link?
Thanks for answering.
