Hi All.

Sorry it's been so long in getting back but I guess connecting with family isn't exactly something which goes out of date :)

I've begun constructing a family tree which is based on the Belmar family from Petite Martinique but also includes the Bethels, Clements, de Roches etc from the island and neighbouring islands. Hopefully from there it will be possible to trace how the Belmars ended up in the US and possibly even trace the family line backwards to the shores of France if that really is the case.

The idea for this project is of like a family wikipedia so that each Belmar family or related family is able to update their family themselves as it grows. If you would like to help me do this then please contact me at:

Hi, good to see the Belmar's connecting again. I think a few Belmar's move to the US and UK. I'm in the UK and my dad is called Rudolf Belmar and his wife is Myra who was a Bethel. They grew up on Petite Martinique. My dad's parents were called John Belmar and Theresa but she was known as Mama Savoir. My mother's parents were called Dollie and Jude. My Dad was one of 11 (Eldika, Maylive, Linus, Reynold, Chester, Matilda, Melinda and 3 others that died after child birth)

Lynette mother is Ada Patrice. My mother, Myra, grew up with Ada in St David’s and her sister is Joycee. Myra knew Lynette as a baby.

Josephine Bethel is Lynette’s great aunt on Totee Belmar’s side and her daughter is Joanne who now lives in London. Her big daughter is Clarise who is in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Clarise is now known of Yvonne Roberts

Incidentally, Suzanna de Roche is Paul Rayleigh Belmar’s . As Auntie Ann Belmar mentioned earlier, Paul is now living in the UK.

Of Suzanna’s children that I’m aware of there is Vivian Belmar (recently passed) Tony Belmar (Grenada) and Harold Belmar (Paul Rayleigh Belmar’s brother). Harold has 5 kids and lives in Mount Paunasas, Grenada. His kids are Fitz, Jeff Belmar (Doctor living in Grenada), Anabel, Alvin, and one other who might be called Shervon or something similar.

I’m actually in the process of mapping out the Belmar family tree as my parents are still very well connected to their family in the UK and abroad so I will let you all know how I’m getting on and how you can obtain a copy for you to update.

i have recently been tracing my hertiage from my late grandfather's side of the family, his surname is faucher and was born in saint lucia, but he is a decendant of the belmar family, his mother was berthilia belmar. before he died he wrote a brief family history where he mentions his great grandfather, henry la curieux belmar, who fled france during the french revolution. if this seems at all familiar to you please feel free to get in contact. my email address is rikidanieldial@hotmail.co.uk.

Sandra, this is the link I think you meant to post, the one you listed had some extra characters that made it unusable.
Once you get to the homepage, click on the "Main Searchable Database" and enter Belmar. Hope this helps.

Belmar ancestors

My ggg grandfather, John McDowell, had two daughters that married Belmar brothers. Margaret married John Belmar in 1841 and Mary married Louis in 1838. I have traced a lot of the family on into the 1900's. I would like to exchange information with anyone that is interested. If anyone has any information on Sanford L. Belmar, born in 1880, I would like to hear from you. I found him in Madison county Missouri in 1900 and in 1918 on his WW I draft registration, he is in Albion, Washington and married. In 1910, I found a Sanford L. Belmar that was an inmate in the Leavenworth federal prison, right age and birth state, but hopefully wrong ancestor.

Hi I am responding to you because my grandfather's name is also Jame ( Jonas ) Belmar and he is from the West Indies ( Grenenda ). He had a brother named Samuel and another named Leo. I also know that he had a sister named Daisy. My mother Karen has a brother named Leo, Clifford ( Tippy ) and a sister named Jacqueline and another named Daisy. Hi wanda. It's me Zonie. I am also searching for family. I do know some information:You also need to know that uncle tippy's father Jonas Macullay Belmar was born and raised in greneda. Grandpa had a brother Leo, Samuel and a sister named Daisy. I know there were more but I do not know all of the names. Your fathers mother's name is Beryl Lorraine Cabey Belmar. And her family is from St. Kitt, West Indies
She had a sister named Florence Cabey and a brother named Thaddeus Cabey and there was another brother but I can not recall his name but they called him "Uncle Hecky". Hi Ben I've been trying to e-mail you but it keeps getting returned to me. You are my family!!! My grandmother was Eulie Martha Ollivierre (Belmar) born in Grenada, her parents were Suzanna DeRoche and Thomas Belmar. From there I have no more information on my grandmother's side. She died recently but was not able to recall her grandparent's name. Would that make your grandfather John and my grandmother Eulie brother and sister?? What are the odds of there being two Thomas Belmar's in Petit Martinique or Grenada? Please e-mail me or post another message.

I was looking for ancestors of my grandfather (Chester Bellmore) and came across the Census for the above date. I managed to save two portions as images. One is an image of the actual page with the name last name Belmar and the other image is from the bottom of the signed document.

Is there anywhere on this message board to post the images for BELMAR ancestors? Just thought I would share it with you all.

Searching on any information concerning a Louisa Belmar who married a John Keenan and had 2 children by the names of Florence Keenan married Patrick Quinn, and Gustave Keenan unmarried.
