Hello, i was trying to trace my family history and i can only get as far as louisiana. my Grandfather's name is William n. Belton, we called him Willie. His father's name was Luther l. Belton, Mother's name was Ila or Ilar Barnett-Belton.With the census not always being accurate i have a hard time knowing what is true. He had a brothr named L. C. Belton they called him Pee wee, he passeed away in Oklahoma, not sure of the year. He also had other siblings, ethel, and mable. His grandfather's name i believe was lecine or lezine all from louisiana. My grandfather at some point went to oklahoma but ended up in california, where he passed away in 2006. Willie's children by his then wife Glaffey Simon-belton was , willie n. belton jr, vernon belton, james c belton, and la gusta belton. if this sounds familiar please help. i know my unlce willie n. belton jr went to a reunion in missouri in the mid to late 90's that was referred to as the edmond belton's louisiana decendants that were related to the missouri belton's and those from north and south carolina. you can also go to this website for a little information on an edmond belton's back ground after being freed from slavery. www.beltonfamily.org. Hello, I was very interested in all of your BELTON names in the UK. I was wondering if any of your Belton line came from IRELAND?

My Great Grandfather, Patrick Joseph Belton, came from Termonfeckon Ireland around 1880/1888, and his father's name was Thomas Belton and his mother's name was Mary Turtle.

Thank you for the info we are related which is great. I have quite a lot of the family in my tree but always looking for more information.Quite a lot of the men in the family were boot/shoemakers and cricket boot makers in and around Horncastle. When my grandmothers family moved to Wallasey i was told by my grandmothers sisters son, the Albones had a shoe shop near Wallasey town hall. Cannot find anything on it so far, although one has turned up in Wallasey. Also a Albones tobaconist, not sure which one in the family owned it.Are you on Genes reunited if so you could look at my tree. If not my email address is sueandcliffg@aol.com and we could communicate much easier that way. I have a black and white photo of one of your mothers Grandfathers brothers and a newspapper cutting to do withit. Hi we have a lot of info on the Albones :) my mothers Grandfather was John William Edwards Albones your Grandmothers older brother. He had 3 girls 2 have died and my Grandmother is still alive aged 90. how about u?

Good to hear from you. Its been a long time since anyone has posted. I would imagine if there is a connection it probably goes back a ways. My line of Beltons were farmers and before that possibly linen artisans. They were from County West Meath which is west of Dublin.

I'm searching for a John C. Belton yr of birth, 1828. The 1870 census shows he is from Ireland: 1st wife is unknown, however 2nd wife is Anna Clark. I am looking for the unknown wife, who would be my great great grandmother. I am slso looking for John C. Belton's parents..They came over to the US, year unknown, however children were born in Duncannon, PA, USA..Children I am related to are Georgiana Belton, John F. I just recently attended a funeral in Ridgeway South Carolina. In fact, it was on yesterday, 7/30/2011. I discovered that I have a great aunt named Rosa Bell Belton that was born in Ridgeway South Carolina and later moved to charlotte North Carolina. I'm in the process of putting together a family tree. If this can be of some assistance, please advise. Prior to leaving on last evening, I also discovered that she had one son who is deceased now, but his wife is still alive and I had occassion to meet her. I'm in the process of communicating with her. As soon as I find some particulars I will post them.

Sorry, you have the wrong presley. I am not a pressley, but married into the family. We have two "SS" in the name, not one "S" I do not know of a William. He may be a cousin to my husband but off hand he doensn't remember a William.

I saw this message on the message board. My father is Donald Stokes Belton...His brother (my Uncle) was John Malcom Belton. My Grandfather was John C Belton II. He had the Belton and Sons Funeral home there in Moorestown, NJ. My Uncle Malcom ran that funeral home for years. My granddfather's father was Elwood Belton (which would have made him my Great Grandfather) and Elwood's father was John C Belton I who was also in the funeral business.

You are correct my Uncle Malcom wasnt well and has since passed away.

To mab34491....My name is Janet Belton. My father was Donald Stokes Belton, his father was John Clemenger Belton II, John's father was Elwood W Belton and Elwood's father was John Clemenger Belton (I). I understand they had a son named Price Belton but I too can not find any information about Price. You may look at my tree to see if we may be a match.

All my grandfathers (great- grandfather's and great-great grandfathers) were all in the funeral business. Attached to Elwood and John Clemenger Belton(I) I have pictures of the coaches they used for the funerals. Take a look. It is odd that the same names we both are searching for are the same.

Please write to me if you think we are a match. John Clemenger Belton III died as an infant in 1926 and my brother is John Clemenger Belton IV and he is still living.

It will be great if we are a match....although I believe my John Clemenger Belton born 1846 was born in New York.

I believe that there was more than 1 Belton Family in Wicklow.
Have you got an Ancestry Tree?? If so let me know and we can compare them to see if we are connected. I don't think we are but you never know as the Irish records are very hard to get.There are hundreds of them.

John Belton (B: July 1806) married to Ann Manly (B: 1828)emigrated to Clayton area of Ontario, Canada.

I realize your post was 5 years ago, but every now and then I google for Belton genealogy and I've never hit this thread.

Any connection to your Belton's, I would be happy to pass along the Canadian legs, if it is.

Hello, you don't mention which years or what country you're in? My Beltons came from Southend on Sea/Foulness Island in Essex England & emigrated to Australia in the 1900's. Junious is not a familiar name, I don't think there's any connection.

Dear Kathy, Ive known of the Belton Family of fishermen for years, but not sure if I was related in any way,I was born in Findon in 1946, my father was Edward Belton, we lived in Downside Avenue in Findon. The trouble is my parents divorsed when I was about 4 years old, I have an elder sister by the name of Patricia, who lives on Shoreham beach, I now live in Portslade, the family history is very sketchy maybe my sister knows more but never mentions much, Ive not really looked into my past, by all accounts it was a messy divorse back then and its not talked about. I think the family moved to Alberta, Calgary area in 1931.
Rose E Belton was buried in the Calgary Garden of Peace in 1965, but cant find trace of Norma or any siblings.

If you search for John Belton in the Irish Civil records http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#p=reco... you will find the registration of the birth of a John Belton in Longford in 1876, which would make him 22 in 1898. You'd have to apply for the birth cert to find out the parish, parents' names etc. It may be your John.

Other John Beltons registered around that time were in Mullingar, Westmeath (1874), Rathdrum, Wicklow (1878), Drogheda (1871) and some other places.

My great great grandfather whose name was Henry Belton emigrated from Ireland to the United States in 1851 at the age of 18. He married Mary MacDonald. They settled in Jersey City, NJ. I don't know where he came from in Ireland but perhaps he is related to Henry and John Belton from Longford.

Hi, I have submitted my brother's DNA on MYFAMILYTREE so we do already have some Belton's in a Belton DNA PROJECT through MY FAMILY TREE. I would love it if some more Belton's were to submit there DNA and see if there could be a connection. My Belton line ends with my brother...although I know that my grandfather and his grandfather both had brothers who had sons, so I think there is a good chance there are relatives out there for me. My oldest known Belton is Thomas Belton who was married to Mary Turtle and I know that he had at least two sons, names Patrick Belton, and John Belton and that each of them had at least three or four sons each. I believe that Thomas and Mary Belton came from Louth Ireland (Termonfecken possibly) and that they may have migrated sometime in the late 1800's, around 1888-1890. My brother's DNA shows that we came from Irish descent and that our Irish line came from the Vikings. Hope some of you will consider joining the Family Tree DNA project and see if we connect. My Belton's lived in New Jersey, New York, and later in Indiana and California. Some went to Mississippi and I don't have any idea about the rest of the extended family.
