Beltran-Marquez

My fathers name was Jesus Castaneda Beltran. His Mothers name (my grandmother) was Maria Castaneda. His Fathers name (my grandfather) was Maximiano Beltran - Marquez. Thats all I know. I only found out a few months ago that my grandfathers name was Beltran-Marquez, which meant HIS mother's maiden name was Marquez. My Grandfather was born somewhere between 1900 and 1906 give or take a year or two. Unsure of where he was born. I found one document that might be related to him listing him as crossing from mexico to texas with a mothers name of Romanda Marquez (I think). The first name is hard to read. My dad told us before he died that his dad said he isn't sure if he was born in Spain or France because he remembered both languages. A cousin found the names Beltran &amp; Marquez as originting in the Basque areas. The documents that I found which I believe are related to my grandfather list places around Jalisco as birthplace. My grandfather had 4 sons and 1 daughter that survived - Jose, Seco, Eugenio, Jesus, and Carmen. All with the last name Beltran, the Marquez was dropped. If anyone has any info please let me know! Thank you!!<br>

Are you still interested in information regarding the Beltran surname? My maternal great-great grandfather was Antonio Beltran who married Arabela Felix. Their daughter Francisca Beltran was married to Luis Sanz Gastelum whose ancestors were from Culiacan, Sinaloa, Mexico. I have some documents that make mention of a Nuno Guzman de Beltran who founded the Villa de San Miguel de Culiacan in 1531.

Your father is my cousin, and your Grandfather was my favorite uncle when I was growing up. I know you never met him, but he loved kids and always gave beard rubs. Your grandfather is my mom's oldest brother. My mom was Patricia Horvat. She was born Petra Betanzos but changed her name to Patricia when she turned 18. Horvat is her married name. My mom was born on the same date as your grandfather (August 1st)but 13 years later. Did you go to the family reunion a few years ago at Camp Dearborn? I saw your dad then and probably met you if you were there. I would love to know more about the family from Spain. I have very little info other than my grandfather (Gabriel) and his brothers (Julian and Ramon). I also know that one great uncle was the Bishop at the cathedral in Bilboa where my grandparents (your great grandparent) were married.
