For John Royse, born 1650, New York, New Jersey, I believe
he may have been part of the Dutch, New Netherlands Colony.

Edward, Sr. and Jr., James and William were all employed as bolt makers in 1880. Hartford, CT was home to boltmaking companies which later opened factories in Cleveland, Ohio.

The mother of Edward, Thomas, James, and Margaret was Margaret E. Curran, who died between 1858 and 1860. Edward, Sr.'s second wife was Esther and they had William and Mary in about 1861 and 1863. Thomas is not seen after the 1860C and may have stayed in CT. Margaret is not seen after the 1870C and may have married in either CT or OH.

Hi, I don't have your answer, but I'm looking along the same lines and will contact you if I run across an Edward Thomas.

My relatives spring from Martin b. abt 1817 and Bridget Merrigan who came from Clonmacnoise, Ireland to Ware/Hardwick Mass via Canada around 1850 with two boys, Michael and Patrick. The family story is Martin also had a brother Patrick who was already in the US, and may be the person who sold Martin the farm in central Mass. Story is that brother, or one of his children, changed his name to Bergen or Bergan, for employment reasons, moved to Connecticut and had some kids.-- Maybe your guy is one of them??

I have recently found an unsourced One World Tree that seems to be this BConnecticut family, as some of the Bergen descendants match people who were at my Merrigans weddings, etc.

I don't know if your family is connected. But the one world tree has Patrick Bergan born in Ireland (Bergan with an A) as ID #1385. They have him married to Mary Kelly born in Clonmacnoise Ireland. They have Patrick's kids as: Susan, Mary, Anna, Bridget, Keron, Catherine, and Lucy -- most of which they have listed as born in Ireland.

By the way, I have traced Martin's son Patrick to Windsor Locks, CT where he had a boatload of kids, all who kept the Merrigan name.

Again, if I run across your guy, I'll let you know. And if you find any connection with Merrigans, I'd be glad to know about that.

I grew up in Connecticut as a Bergen. My dad told me that we hailed from Ireland, and that several Bergen brothers came over together during the potato famine and that one or more of them went on to Chicago and worked for the railroad. Dad's branch stayed in Connecticut.

I'm trying to find out information on David and Nancy (Boyce) Bergen. They are the parents of my GGGG Grandmother, Cynthia (Bergen) Francis. All I have are their names from Cynthia's death record. I have managed to find a reference to them in a history of Warren Co, Ohio. The passage talks about a George Denise who married Louisa, daughter of David and Nancy Bergen, from Brunswick, NJ. I'm pretty sure that they are also the parents of Cynthia (Cynthia lived in Warren Co at the same time), but am looking for anything else that anyone might have. Thanks in advance for any help!

I think I have spoken to your uncle (Everett?) about the Bergen family. I tracked him down a few years ago; sorry to say I have not been in contact since then.

I have been doing research on this family for years (like around 30). I have a good bit of information, but, unfortunately, I have never entered the data into Family Treemaker.

I know quite a bit about your ancestor Edward Julius Bergen, the son of J.C.E. Edward is the half brother of my grandfather William Peter Bergen. Edward was from the first wife (Martha Loomer); William was from the second (Mary Buel).

Hope you will email me back. Eventually I can send you something. I think I already have the photo of Edward, Alice and children. It was sent to me by another Bergen relative in New Mexico.

William is the only Bergin male in my family to come to America. Another brother John, stayed in Ireland with his parents. William had two children, Joseph and Michael, neither of whom, I believe, were policemen. Unhappily for everyone researching Irish ancestors, many people have the same last name. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

My Charles Bergen was born about 1860, supposedly in Rhode Island, claimed Louis and Christina as his parents on his 1883 marriage, however, I cannot find him on any census earlier than 1900. I find Louis & Christine in 1900 in Detroit with a child also born in Rhode Island, so the connection is logical, but see they were not married when Charles was born, so she must be his stepmother. He also names a John Bergen as brother on his obit, but I cannot find him either. Do you have them on census, etc? interested to share more. Thanks!

Hi. I am looking for information on who was Simon Bergen's first wife. Simon was born May 24, 1806 in Hanover, Indiana. His death is unknown. He and his first wife had 8 children; Mary born 1835, triplets James, Jane, and Rachel born 1839, Sarah born 1841, twins Elizabeth and Martha born 1843, and William born 1845.

Simon remarried on Aug. 22, 1848 to Narcepa(Narcissa)Johns. They had three children; Charles Crawford Bergen(my great-great grandfather) born 1854, Barnet born 1860, and Ida born 1863.

I am looking for this relative he was b. KY 1824 & d. MO bet 1880-1900. His first wife was Nancy Davis b. 1825 IN d. unk (they married 11 September 1842 Decatur County, IN - they had two children before she died Sarah b. 1843 IN / d unk (don't know if she married) & Isaac b. 1846 In d. 1937 MO I have lots of his family. Thompson's 2nd wife was Elizabeth Lee b. 1836 MO / unk (married in 1856 Schulyer County, MO)
I would like to find his death date and any info on Sarah is daughter from first marriage.
The spelling of last name changes in ancestry, familysearch.org websites. I have found them on the 1850/1860/1870/1880 census in MO (on the 1860 census Sarah & Isaac are with Thompson and Elizabeth) by the 1870 Isaac is married with his own family, found him on 1880,1900,1910,1920,1930 census's all in Missouri. No information on Sarah from 1860 forward.

I have tracked my family back to Jacob Hertzler- I was born Amish. My mother was a Byler and hers was a Hostetler.

I don't know my family because we were all "shunned" when my parents chose to leave- when we were young children. There are "Wengers" in my family book-but mostly Bylers, Hostetlers, Yoders, and Zooks.

My gr. gr. gr. gr. gr. grandmother was Barbara Wenger and she married Jacob Hoffman. Jacob was left with an Amish family when his parents went west, but they never returned for him. I have quite a few relatives that lived in Nebraska (1880-1904) to settle, then later returned to Ohio, Indiana, Pa and such. Aaron Hostetler writes that "reports were that they were killed by Indians."

I am looking for more information about this woman. She married John E Tierney and had three children in SD. I have what I am pretty sure is her death certificate and it says her parents were Tom Bergen and Mary Ryan. She was born 31 Aug 1866 in Cresco, Howard Co., Iowa and died 06 Apr 1954 in Aberdeen, Brown Co., SD. I have several names for her ranging from Maggie A Tierney to Berrigan and Bergin depending on the census or marriage certificate of two of her kids that you look at.

Isaak Bergen born 5 Oct 1844 Russia, baptized 12 Jun 1865 Russia, died 19 Jul 1902 MB, married 11 Jan 1868 to Justina Redekopp. She was born 26 Sep 1845, baptized 12 Jun 1864, died 21 Feb 1923 MB. No other info on Justina. I have record of 11 children, but the one born 26 Nov 1870 (Isaak) was the second; first was Helena, born 8 nov 1868. Isaak's parents : Isaak Bergen born 28 Apr 1816 Ekaterinoslav S Russia, baptized 25 May 1836, died 7 Feb 1888 MB, married Helena Niessen on 16 jun 1844. She was born 7 Feb 1820, baptized 4 Jun 1840, died 1 Apr 1894 MB no other info on her. They immigrated to Canada 13 Jul 1875 on SS Peruvian. email me at kingsdaughter@shaw.ca for more info

Does your Peter Bergen have any siblings? I am looking for Isaac Bergen b. 1844 Neuendorf, Russia and was in Manitoba when he died in 1902. I have no idea who his parents or siblings were. He married Justina Redekop. She was born in Russia in 1847. His first child was b. in Russia in 1870

Since I posted my original query I found there is one book, not two.. Teunis Bergen was the author and Joel Munsell was the publisher...

The Jane Bergen, b. 1770, from page 441 was not the Jane Bergen from page 434 who married Henry Davis.

I guess I will keep looking for more on the Jane Bergen of page 434.

Sorry it took so long to respond. Jane Bergen is mentioned in the other book on page 180. Unfortunately there is no additional information. The quote is as follows:
"Jane Bergen: m. Henry Davis and d. prior to , the date of her father's will, leaving surviving issue."

Fred Grant Bergen was born on Jun. 13, 1865 in Galesburg (Knox Co.), IL. As of 1908, he lived in Summerfield (Marshall Co.), KS. On Nov. 2, 1908, he joined the Sons of the American Revolution, on behalf of the service of his Revolutionary War ancestor, Jeremiah Bingham.

The 1910 census showed Fred Grant Bergen living in Marshall Co., KS.

I am seeking his death date/ place and obituary.

Do you perhaps anything on Peter Bergen's children, especially Jane Bergen.
I am attempting to see if there is a connection between the Jane Bergen, daughter of Peter Bergen mentioned on page 434 in the book by Joel Munsell, which I have seen, and a Henry and Jane Davis living in Cranberry, NJ covered in the 1st Presby. Church records there... There is never a mention of Jane Davis'
maiden name and she must also have also died right around 1807 as Henry Davis married a Phebe Rue in 1807 in Cranberry..

In Joel Munsell book, on page 434 of the Bergen family descendants of Hans Hansen Bergen of NY it mentions; quote: " 460 - Jane Bergen, b. ____, married Henry Davis, and died prior to 1813, the date of her father's will, leaving surviving issue, of whom no trace", endquote...

Ancestry.com also referenced a Jane Bergen from another book on the descendants of Hans Bergen by Teunis G. Bergen and giving her birth date as 1770... I was wondering if this second book by Teunis Bergen had more than just the birth date...
