DAWSON, John b 1810 (Berkshire, UK?) son of Joseph

I am searching for my great great grandfather's roots, he was a JOHN DAWSON b 1810 who came to Western Australia on the passenger ship 'Egyptian' 1830 as a young 20 year old and was in the employ of a Mr Agett, another passenger who came out on the same ship. He came without family, although, he is supposedly the SON of a JOSEPH DAWSON.

His emploment was registered as a carpenter and farm hand, possibly from Newbury, Berkshire, UK (as he named his property in W/Aust, 'Newbury') He married a Mary Dooley 1854 (Busselton) off an Irish 'Bride Ship', the Palestine 1853. He died in Western Australia 1887.

Family names often continued through families for many generations, and this could help provide vital clues. His children were Mary Jane, Catherin, Elizabeth, John Joseph, Susan, Rose Anne and Edward. There was also an unknown child who died in infancy. Trades were also often passed on from one family member to another.

If anyone can help trace this line of ancestry back further, it would be greatly appreciated.
GEORGE BERKSHIRE Wimbledon UK

Hi, I am looking for family of George BERKSHIREe, who was sent to Australia in 1844. He had two children and was married to Elizabeth. (possibly) GRIGG. I believe the names of the childrem were, Emma Mary and Agnes Elizabeth born 1841 & 1843.born in the UK

There was a third child born to George, Elizabeth, she was my Great Grandmother born in Australia.

The details that I have states he had a sister Mary, and a brother or brothers with the names William Thomas Henry. The names that I have are from George's prison documents, and it is possible that there could be errors.

George was a Groom/Coachman, he lived in Wimbledon, he was born 1816/1817. If any of the above sound familiar or you have anthing that may help, It would appreciated.

Dianne

- My husband's Grandfather- His children's births were registered in Wokingham between 1903 & 1908. He was witness to his son, Thomas', marriage to Olive Mold In the Parish Church Shinfield 4th July 1928. The son, Thomas, died in 1933 and his father must have died between those two dates as his wife Sarah Jane was described as widow on the probate record of the son's will. A Thomas LANDSEY appears as a child of 5 on the North Petherton 1881 Census but not on the 1891 Census. This may be the Thomas I am looking for as the age is about right. I can find no Thomas L in the 1901 online index. I am trying to make the connection. Any help will be received with grateful thanks.

Robert (son) John W. (father) Berkshire

Robert Berkshire is my husband's gr-grandfather. All we know is he was born in Olathe, KS and he died in Sep 1951. He was married to Florence Fulton who died 4 Jan 1971 in CA. Know they were in Missouri in 1911 as that is when my husband's grandfather was born in Mountain View.

John W. Berkshire was born about 1835 (not sure where) and died 21 Apr 1913 in Blackwell, OK but is buried somewhere in Missouri. Have been told he move to Kansas about 1878 and his first wife died there. He then married Lizzie Olive Worthing (Warthing), believe born 7 Sep 1863 near Louisville, KY and died 27 Dec 1914 in CA. They lived in Kansas till about 1893 when they moved to the Cherokee Strip area. They had the following children: Robert (above my husband's gr-grandfather); Bert; Henry; Daisy; Rose and 2 sets of twins that died young from Diptheria.
It is also said that Lizzie was originally John W. his first wife's housekeeper and that she was either Cherokee or Choctaw Indian. Information passed down says her parents were massacred somewhere in Kentucky and her last name came from a Mormon family who adopted her and her younger brother after finding them.
Need any help in finding information about the above, as family have talked to does not remember or know any more than this.

Crystal Atwood
CLATWOOD@aol.com
