My Grandfather was Valmore Bertram Berridge Sr(born Oct. 07,1908), son of Raymond(Ray)Berridge and Winnifred Inez (Nelson) Berridge(married Dec. 28,1905). Raymond(his dad) was born on March 13th, 1882. My Grandpa was raised by his maternal grandparents after his mom passed away(Dec. 20, 1909). They were Albert A. Nelson and Carrie D. (Hunt) Nelson who farmed on Giddings Road in Pontiac- Avon Twp. area. My G. Grandpa Berridge's parents were James Walt Berridge and Jennie B. (Cummings) Berridge. I have just been researching my family tree the last couple of weeks. Most of my info I have found on line free, although quite a bit of it my Uncle Steve Foster(married to my dads sister Aunt Jeanne Berridge) had given to me awhile back. My Grandpa Valmore B. Berridge Sr.(brother Harold Raymond born in 1906) didn't share much info on his Berridge side(mayhap being raised by the Nelson's?) I know my dad Valmore Bertram Berridge Jr. had to get his birth certificate changed from last name Nelson back to Berridge when he married my mom in 1957. Not sure as to why he was listed as Nelson on his birth certificate(possibly because my grandpa was a year old when his mom Winnifred passed away & he then took on the Nelson name and then they pass it on to my dad when he was born?). Also have been told that there is Indian in our family genes? Maybe from Carrie D.(Hunt)Nelson(my g. grandma Winnifred's mom?)I haven't been able to find out much more than her Dad was Lucien Hunt and her mom was Helen Maria(Beagle)Hunt married Dec. 12, 1858. Wondering where the name Valmore and Bertram came from? Old family names? Any & all info will be greatly appreciated.
Sherry Sue Berridge)Montney montneyhome@comcast.net

Have you come across any of the following in your search?
Sarah Berridge (Davis or Black)
John Berridge
Tobias Berridge - also went by Toby - changed his name to Peater then Peter when he came to Canada
Joseph Berridge
Edward Black
I having been trying for "years" to find out information on my family that originated in St. Kitts as well. I now believe my G-grandfather, Tobias Berridge, left St. Kitts went to Bermuda with his brother and then he himself came to Canada (I have no idea when), where he later became a Podiatrist.
If you have come across any of these names or if any of this sounds familiar, I would love to hear from you.
Take Care,
Shannon

Hello,
I also read the message regarding the Bible, however I don't have any answers as to who may want it. I am researching Christopher Berridge's son Josephus, another brother of Andrew Jackson. Josephus is my husband's Great Great Grandfather. He evidently died quite young and left his wife a widow with three children. I hope you're able to find a contact from Andrew's line.
Sincerely, Leslie Berridge

I was so excited when I found your message regarding old Berridge photos. Thank you so much for rescuing them from the dumpster and saving them!!!
I am very interested in genealogy and have alot of information on my ancestors.

I am related to a couple of the people in the pictures:

My great great great grandparents are George Berridge ( my records show he was born in 1805 and died in 1869 in Pontiac MI). He was married to Elizabeth Mosby.

Their son, William Mosby Berridge( 1830-1906), was married to Emma Adele Bradford (1849-1883), ( my great great grandparents).

Their son, William Mosby Berridge II married Jean Muirhead Comb in 1905 in Detroit MI. They had 4 children, William Mosby Berridge III, Jean Constance Berridge, Margaret Adelaide Berridge and my grandfather Kenneth Andrew Berridge.

I also have the following names as the descendants of George Berridge:

Joeseph Berridge
Carrie M. Berridge
Lena Helene Berridge
George T. Berridge
Jane C. Berridge
Adelaide Flora Berridge
Maurice W. Berridge
And also a Waldo E. Carpenter ( maybe related to Emma C (Carpenter) Berridge?

Not sure if you have any photos of these Berridge's?
I would greatly appreciate any information you have, and would love to see their photos!
Thanks so much.
Megan Berridge
Megan@JBMShows.com

Hello Michael,
I saw the message about the Berridge Bible. I have also been looking at the Berridge family. This Andrew Jackson Berridge was the son of Christopher Berridge, born 1818 in England. (Gallia COunty, Ohio 1860, 1880, 1900 consus). I have been researching Andrew's brother John Sheridan Berridge because of Sheridan's daughter Gertrude. I also belong to Ancestry.com. There are 5 submitted Trees from Andrew Jackson Berridge's family. But each tree has as contact "Unknown." So I know the people that belong to that Bible are out there, just not sure of where. There were alot of Berridge children so some may still be in Gallipolpis (Gallia Co.) Ohio. I hope this helps you, I will continue to look and please let me know if you locate them.
Thanks, Diane Coleman

My name is Michael Delahunty and I am located in Decatur, Macon County, Illinois. I was working at the Decatur Genealogical Society yesterday, when a lady brought in a family bible that she had no ideal where she gotten it and knew none of the people that were in it. She no longer wanted it, so she gave it to our library.
The bible is for the Andrew Jackson Berridge family of Gallipolis, Ohio.
Some of the info in the bible:
Andrew Jackson Berridge born December 15, 1858 and married on October 25, 1882 to Margaret Jane Tucker, who was born on December 17, 1863. Andrew J Berridge died on August 20, 1935 and Margaret J. Berridge died on January 1, 1936.
Children
Osa M. born September 27, 1883 married Oscar E. Russell June 26, 1912
Silvia C. born December 14, 1885 married Wilber A Baker December 9, 1908
Charles W. born August 11, 1888 married Lucille Sandel August 1914
Vernon D. born October 6, 1890 married Bessie Harrison February 7, 1923
Esta I. born January 12, 1895 married Bernard Hobson July 19, 1920
Lexie I. born August 27, 1899 married Harold Houch July 1918
Lucille born February 13, 1906 Married Russell Todd Oct 30, 1953

What I'm trying to find out is how this bible made it's way to central Illinois and is there anyone left in the Berridge family who would like to have this bible?

If this isn't any connection to the Berridge family that you are researching, would you have any contacts that might be of help?

Thanks for your time.
Michael C. His son William Berridge was born in 1815 in Schropshire. Then his son George was born in Nottingham. Now, I am to understand that I am able to get a copy of their birth certificate? Can you be more specific about the procedure, like the name and the address and what kind of payment is required or at least how I can communicate with them? I do appreciate your help.

I can only look up details for Shropshire Berridges, sorry. The George Berridge you mention could be either of the following, which are references for obtaining copy birth certificates. Both are in Lincolnshire.
1. George Berridge birth registered in the September quarter of 1852 at Stamford register office reference 7a 260.
2. George Berridge birth registered in the March quarter of 1853 at Hornchurch register office, reference 7a 485.
An application to the Superintendant registrar at Southport detailing the names of your George's parents, and quoting the reference number should avoid the purchase of the wrong certificate. Alternatively you could contact each register office and ask for details of how to apply to them for a copy.
Pam

Looking for information on William Charles Berridge who was a minister in England around 1868. He was probably married to someone else, but fathered a daughter Emily around that time to Elizabeth Falshaw.

Any information appreciated

Hi Connie, I am not a Berridge, but I've been looking for the right line to attach to Carl Berridge, who married Viola Seagraves in CO. I believe he may be related to your Berridges. Read my posts on GenForum's Berridge board. Please email me
