Hello Jim,
This line is my husbands line. The story goes that Henry Clay Bert was born mid ocean on the Ship The Henry Clay.
His parents were on the way to the United States. I was able to find evidence of a ship by this name but so far I have not found any passenger lists. Please email me and I will be happy to share what I have.

I just found out I am desecdant for Henry Clay Bert b. 01 Oct 1827. Married to Mary Miller. Died 11 Jul 1906 in Barberton, OH. Their son William Henry Bert b. 27 Mar 1851 Chambersburg, PA was my GGrandfather. He married Harriet Christy Bond b. 21 Oct 1856 in Lockport, IL.
William H. d. 14 Jun 1909 in Steubenville, OH.
Harriet C. d. 31 Aug 1944 in Monroe, MI
Their daughter Vivian H Bert was my Grandmother

Joeseph Bert was my grandpa. He married Mary and had 3 sons and they lived in Chicago. Joe died in 1956. My dad, Jeff Bert was the middle son, who has 6 children.

Just wanted to update -

I have learned of another brother of Bertel Peter Jurgens, Nicolaus Jurgens, Lauritz Peter Jurgens. His name is Mads P. Jurgens. Born I believe about 1863.

If someone does Danish research and is able to look up some vital records information out there, please let me know. I am interested in searching for more on Marie Mikkelsdatter and her sons.

Domenic Bertogliat was born in Minnesota in 1900 and went back to Pont Canavese, Abruzzo Italy with parents. His parents and sister stayed in Pont Canavese and were living there in 1947 when Domenic died in US. Domenic had brother Joseph Bert living in Waukegan Illinois. Any information would be helpful

Who was E. E. Bert? Was s/he from New York? My Berts were from Alsace. (John?) George Bert shows up on NYC records about 1853, marries Anna Marie Florey and has at least one son, John George Bert m. ca. 1879 Clara Augusta Hanft, had 3 children-Dolly, Gus and Charles Harold. They moved to Florida in 1899 with the youngest son to join Gus who had moved there about a year earlier. There were other Berts in NYC on census records from 1860 to 1900, probably nephews and cousins. Was E. E. from one of these?

Bert is my maiden name but Ann Marie Flory married George Bert in the early 1850s they lived in NYC where he died in 1859.

Did you see the other reply I tried to send on this subject... If not, perhaps I can find what this program does with the copies--if filed, I can send you another copy. The thing that struck me about your family is the similarity with some of the given names. Do you know the origin of the name "Harold" in your family? We have dozens of them in our family for my father's generation his uncles, but no one knows where it came from. ABR

There is probably no connection, but my dad's brother was Harold Florey. My dad and the rest of the family spelled the name Flory (without the "e", but Uncle Harold spelled it with an "ey" - perhaps because of a mix up in military records. I'm not sure! One of their ancestors way back was Augustus and I guess my dad was named for him. His name is Airld Augustus "Gus" Flory. The father of Gus and Harold was Charles E. Flory who was born in IA. around 1875 and died in OR. in 1960. He had a brother named Leonard. The last I knew of him, he was living in California.
