BERWICK

I am just returning to my family history research after a long absence. I would like to construct a family tree for BERWICK.

It is my ultimate aim to have a worldwide family tree for all people of the BERWICK name. I would appreciate any family tree information from anyone in the world who shares this same name within their families as I hope to make connections with them all.

The only information I have to go on is that a John Berwick married Charlotte Rogers and their child Mary Berwick was born in 1823. Mary married Thomas Leonard in 1842 and their child Mary Leonard lived from 1849 - 1934. These ancestors of mine lived in New South Wales, Australia.

If anyone wishes to send me information, either a Gedcom or a file attached to an email would be very welcome. I would be quite happy to send anyone who requests it all the information I have in return. I run Legacy 6 as a genealogy programme on my computer.

Thanks for your assistance, everyone. .
Berwick information

I have finally traced the Berwick lineage and hope that this info might help others. My Grandfather was Gordon Wilmer Berwick. His father was Clarence Homer Berwick. Clarence Homer Berwick's father was Ueo Isaac Sweetser and his mother was Minnie Bell Berwick (Although the daughters took the last name Sweetser, for some reason my great-grandfather and his brother (Andrew) who died of typhoid, took the surname Berwick.) Minnie Bell's father and mother were Zadock Pierce Berwick (b. 1844 in Stanstead, PQ) and Lois Climenia Mosher. Zadock (Zed)'s father was Charles George Berwick who was born in 1821 England. It appears he may have come with his father, Edward Cooper Berwick (b. 1802). I can't be certain, but Edward Cooper's father may have been Denis Berwick's father (Denis listed as b. 1784). This is speculation on my part until I have paper proof.

Zadock and Lois' children were: Jessica Louisa Berwick (b. 1868); Minnie Bell Berwick (b. 1870); John E. (b. 1872); C.P. Berwick; Frank Berwick; Harley Berwick; and Ethel Berwick. Zadock and Lois are buried together at the Lakeview Cemetary in Westmore, VT.

Charles George Berwick and Louisa's children were: Eliza (1842); Zadock Pierce (1844); Mary (1847); Henry (1849); Norman Samuel; Cinderella; Rosena (1853); Herbert (1859); William (1865); Winnona May (1872); Gertrude (1876); Addison (1881) and, Willard Leslie. I do have a copy of Zadock's death certificate that lists Charles as his father.

Edward Cooper Berwick and Elizabeth's children were: William T.; Enoch; George (1822 England); and Charles George.

Denis Berwick's children are listed as Daniel (1826 England); Henry(1835 England); and Ellen. His wife was listed as Mary.

I really hope this info is able to help people who have been searching in these lines.

Stephen Berwick

Berwick used to be Borowiec sometimes!

FYI in some cases the Berwick surname used to be Borowiec. My G-gpa Paul Borowiec came from Borzecin, Galicia, Austria (Poland) around 1898 and settled in Chicago, where his name was usually spelled Borowicz. He later moved to Waushara County, Wisconsin and Lewis County, New York. He found prejudice against Poles over the years and eventually changed his surname to Borowick. His children from his first wife changed their surname to Berwick, and the children from the second wife changed it to Borwick.
