after i so your post and started to look into it after my reply i am starting to wonder if i went donwn the wrong part of the family tree. tired to do everything i could to verify and i am really beggining to wonder so i am ordering there marriage certificate to see what is on it so i can verify it that way. cause if what i think is correct Allen Makepeace and Nancy Shimer are not related to me at all. another thing i had heard that it was possible that Allie (allphertte was Half Indian through family loar but never was able to confirm that as her mother was the indian. if you went on the right track and i made a mistake on my family tree i will be shaking my head but that is why we verify and re verify. plus i have never been able to confirm Allie just assumed that they misspelled it on census records since that has happened on my grandfather census records. hard to read some of them. i will let you know what i find out.

1870 Federal Census for Salem, Delaware, Indiana, has Alvin M. Makepeace (38-Indiana), a farmer, and his wife, Arminter (39-Indiana), living with their children Alpharetta (12-Indiana), Franklin P. (10-Indiana) and Thomas R. (2-Indiana).

sorry this took so long to reply. havnt really read to much on the message boards. i really appreciate the info but have 1 question. how did you come up with Alpharetta J. Makepeace. everything i have found is under Allie J. Makepeace. Daughter of allen makepeace and nancy shimer. any way we are onto the same person. everything else you have is what i have just that name variation.

I am looking for any information on James Beyea, RCNVR of St. John, New Brunswick who served on His Majesty's Canadian Motor Torpedo Boat 459 (of the Canadian 29th Motor Torpedo Boat Flotilla) during 1944-45.

Just saw your question on the family of Frank Edgar Beyea. My daughter-in-law is a great-granddaughter and I have been working on her family tree. Frank Edgar was born 11 Dec 1882 in Daleville, Delaware County, Indiana, son of Harrison E. Beyea and Alpharetta J. Makepeace. Frank married Josephine Francis Cook in 1907, Los Angeles County, California. Children were Frank Edgar Jr. (12 Apr 1908), Leslie T. (15 Mar 1911), Mary Elizabeth (8 Jul 1913), Ellen Louise (11 Jun 1916), Jeanette A. (19 Jan 1920, and James A. (19 Jan 1920). Hope this helps your research.

My grandmother was a Beyea, so I've been doing a lot of research on the family. According to the book "Beyea Genealogy" by Maurice E. Peck and Gale Peck Beyea, "james was probably the fifth in a family of 6 brothers born and raised in Mamaroneck Township, Westchester Co., N.Y." The authors of the book also say that the original name was probably Bouyer, and that the family was divided by the American Revolution, when some members of the family moved to Canada. I'd be happy to look up information for you in my copy of the book.

I am having a dilemna, according to the family lore the L was kicked out of Beyea when they arrived in Canada but I can find nothing that supports this.

I have the line as follows:

1. James Beyea m: Martha Curry Sherwood
2. James Beyea m: Mary Smith
3. Richard Beyea m: Sarah Jane Devoe (De Voe or Devaux)
4. William Richard Beyea (Beyer) m: Anne (Annie) Francis Burgess
5. Lee Wilmott Beyea m: Clara Blanche Ward

Does anyone else have a similar family lore? Or found something that supports this lore?

Beyea Genealogy Book Available

In the late 1970's and early 80's my mother and grandfather wrote a Beyea Genealogy book after extensive research. We still have a few copies of this great hardcover book available for sale. It is a great resource for learning the history of the Beyea name.

I'm looking for any info i can find on the parents of James Beyea (born: 21 Feb.1739- died: 9 Aug.1809). His wife was Martha Curry Sherwood. Parents were probably from France... or perhaps, Maritimes Canada or New Enland.

Beyea family history from entrance to eastern Canada is detailed in a book called Courage through adversity. From 1795 when brothers john and james came over from france.

I don't think that my family stems from anyone where you mentioned. More likely, the people you are thinking of stemmed from the Beyeas in the New England area where I live. If you would like info on specific people, please email my mom at galeba@aol.com

My name is James Beyea.....interestingly enough. I would like to know where I can get info on the Beyea Geneology book. I have many relatives in New York. Mainly around Hornell, Bath and Buffalo. My father was Richard L. Beyea (which we later found out was Richard F. Beyea when he passed away). Any help you can lend me would be greatly appreciated.

Looking for information on William Beyea who appears in the 1810 census for Westchester County, NY, with wife and two daughters. He does not appear in previous or subsequent censuses after 1810 for this county. He and his wife are listed as over age 45 in the 1810 census, and their two daughters are between 0-10 and 16-20. Suspect these are his youngest children and probably had older ones.

Any would help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

James father was Jacques Beyea from france. but that is as far back as i have been able to get back. i do have info on Peter Beyea whom is his brother.and that part of the tree but nothing more on your james.
