I am a descendant of Ruth Pennock, daughter of John Pennock and Frances Bezer. I was wondering if any one has found information regarding Frances’ parents and the Edwards I have found preceding her.

I have hit a stumbling block of an allegation of Edward Bezer (circa 1575) being the possible 4th duke of Bath. I was wondering if you had found any information to support or refute this information. If you have found this to be false, have you identified is parents?

Hi - Have been researching Rachel E Collins, second wife of Edward Bezer, and I have found your postings of interest. Rachel is from my husband's Cochrane/Keys family, from the NSW South Coast area. I'm interested to learn Rachel's full name and about where she died - if anyone has that detail. I've searched high and low and can't find any trace of her beyond her marriage to Edward and the birth of their two children.

I found Edward's death and funeral notices in the Sydney Morning Herald (1922) and there is no reference to his second family at all. I wonder if Rachel and Edward had separated and if she had perhaps remarried.

Thanks
Glennys

Hi,
Edward Ernest Bezer's (Snr.) death certificate gives the following details. At the time of his death on the 24th. June 1951, Edward Ernest was an Inspector of Police. He died at Spit Junction, Mosman, aged 57. Cause of death was "Heart Disease" and his home address was 8 Lea Avenue, Willougby. I visited the Lea Avenue address c 2000, but the original home had been demolished and a new home was under construction at that time. The next time I am in Chatswood I will see if I can find any details in the papers at Willoughy library

hi hughsie..sounds like a connection somehow.our father was actually adopted by edward and kathleen emiline bezer who lived in willoughby sydney.edward senior was an important police officer in his day.not sure if he was a sarge or what, but when he died they gave him a horse drawn funeral which was apparently pretty big,i think at crows nest.edward snr and kathleen had no other children only my father edward jnr(adopted).there may be still someone out there who remembers the adoption happening or a story behind it.we are still searching for our family sadly...

why the heck would you want to put your stuff up on a website for tracey???..you are searching wrong places.if you really wanted to find out about edward ernest bezer..you could pay $35 to get permission to get his birth certificate..then you hve to pay another $35 to obtain his birth certificate..you also have to write a letter stating why, what for,and does it affect other family members etc etc.ive already researched this..and the only way you can get info through a bezer who was related to edward senior is to find someone that is still alive which i very very much doubt as dad wouldve been 78yrs old now.so thats 78 years ago a bezer would have to remember an adoption...ive already done a lot of research..bezer is not the way to go to look for a norris
baby.let me know when you find anything useful.this is info for your perusal....:)

I know there was a lady in Johnsonville Wellington that gave us a photo of the Ash family and I think she may have been a Bezer. Ellen is an Ash family name as well. At the moment all our information is packed away (due to house moving/building.. - and the computer that it was all stored on died the most terrible death. My G G Parents where Henry and Eliza Bezer. My Great Grandfather is Robert Bezer born1876 Rotherhithe, my Grandmother Eleanor Amy((Ellen) born Rotherhite 1898 whom I think could possibly have some connection with the Ash family, I never met my Grandmother as my mother Ellen considered her as dead, Her parents came to NZ about 1920 its a long story, her mother, left her father and he returned to the UK,when he couldnt locate them in NZ he contacted my mother through the Salvation Army when she was 60.My Grandmother put my mother in an orphanage at the age of 5 actually on her 5th birthday with no contact until she was 18/20,she is now in her 90th year, she does remember her mother coming for her at that time, and taking her to a house in Christchurch where there was a man and three young boys, she thinks this mans surname name was Ash.i dont know if they ever married even though there was three boys, as my Grandfather said that they never divorced..... You can image she was shattered by all this, and decided to have no contact with her mother and never did, as children my brothers and I were brought up to believe our Grandparents were dead, which was a way I think my mother had of dealing with this, but now in this latter period of her life there is interest in this for her,as well as myself. If u had any information, as I would be interested in seeing if I could find out about her three half brothers who would most likely go under the name of Ash. Looking forward to hearing from you Edna Jefferson. edna_jefferson@hotmail.com

Dear Barbara, I have just read an email which you sent to Kay in 2003, I was enthalled, as I am hoping this is a connection to my Grandmother Eleanor Amy Bezer, she was born 1898 in Rotherhithe to parents Robert Bezer and Ellen Ragan, she had siblings Robert born 1896 and James 1900,She married a Thomas William Reed 1918 the year my mother Ellen Elizabeth was born they emigrated to Newzealand. My grandmother left my Grandfather taking her daughter, and at the age of five placing her in a orphanage,my mother had no contact with her until 18/21,as children we were brought upto believe our Grandparents were dead, which is how my mother had thought of them. My Grandmother did take my mother to met her 3 half brothers when she was 21 there was also a man, whom my mother thought his name was somebody Ash...my mother was so upset that she was put in an orphanage and her mother went on to have three more children, that she never made contact with her mother again. My mothers Father Thomas Reed contacted my mother when she was 60.... My mother is still alive 90 this year, I have been trying to make contact with any relatives but have always come up with a dead end as far as she goes as going by my Grandfather they where never divorced,so it was hard not having another name to go on,but would be interested if you could give me anymore leads,my mother never became a teacher. best wishes Edna.

There's definitely one either in monmouth county or the next over! it might be spelled differently though. Honestly i don;t really remember, I moved to japan about four years ago and dont come back often!

The Bezer half of my family is from farther south though. Next time I'm home I'll look, we have a family tree back a couple generations maybe Sarah is one there.
Take care, I hope you find the place you're looking for!
Hi Jess,

Thanks for your reply. We may be long lost cousins as my great great grandfather Dr. William David Barnett married Lydia Green Hewes of Louisville, Kentucky, a daughter of the sea captain Aaron Hewes and his wife Adeline Watts Hewes. I believe Aaron Hewes was a descendant of William Hewes and Sarah Bezer.

As for the location you refered to, I believe I stated that their was no FAIRFAX COUNTY, ALEXANDRIA (Town), NEW JERSEY. The only combination of this county and town that I have found so far is in Virginia.

By the way, out of curiosity, where is Fairfax, New Jersey? My large RAND MCNALLY Road Atlas, the internet, and the telephone system has no listing for a Fairfax, New Jersey.

Please let me hear from you as I would like to discuss the Hewes and Bezer genealogy.

Thanks,
Rufus Buie

Thanks Kathey for your prompt reply. I am trying to prove that my Aaron Hewes (the sea Captain) is the Aaron Hewes listed as the son of Aaron Hewes and Mary Pancoast Hewes. I also think the information on Aaron and Mary is correct. However I also believe that they lived in Alrlington, Fairfax County, Virginia, between 1780 and 1790, where at least two of their children were born, Aaron (the sea Captain) in abt. 1786 and Mary Ann about 1788, and very likely David abt, 1780, and possibly another child between David and Aaron. This is the only Hewes family that I have found that had a son named Aaron, born abt. 1786, in Virginia. Please keep in touch.

Rufus

Hi, you're probably right about Fairfax New Jersey being a mistake but Mary Pancoast almost certainly came from New Jersey. The Pancoast family is very well written up here. Aaron Hewes was also most likely from here as well but as you know things can get pretty complicated when family members all start giving their children the same name! i do not have time at this moment to look into it too much but will do so over the next few days. I can find out a lot about the Pancoast family too if you are interested. Let me know what you have already.
Kathy

Hi Kathy,

Please help! I am the ggg grandson of Aaron Hewes, the sea captain I believe, from all indications that he was the son of Aaron and Mary Pancost and I need your help to verify this. My Aaron was born abt. 1785-87 in Virginia, married Adeline Watts about 1813-15, in Philadelphia or Baltimore, owned his owen ship, was involved in shiping on the East Coast, live at different times in Baltimore and Philadelphia, moved to Indiana then to Louisville, Kentucky. He had at least 7 children:Mary Elizabeth, married Rodman Wanton in Louisville, Lydia Green married Dr. William David Barnett, Louisville, Virginia married James N. Kellogg, Louisville, Aaron never married,Edward never married, Corcelia Ann married William Washington Talbot, Louisville, and
Rodman never married. The list of children for Aaron Hewes and Mary Pancost list an Aaron Hewes born abt 1786-87 in Fairfax, New Jersey, I believe this is an error. I don't believe ther is a Fairfax, NJ, but there is a Fairfax County, Arlington, Virginia. In fact his sister, Mary Ann, born abt. 1788 is listed as being born in Fairfax, Virginia, and in some places his brother, David, born abt. 1780as being born in Virginia. What do you think? I have more dates, names and places for Aaron, the sea captain if you would like them. PLEASE HELP!!

Rufus Buie
P.O.
Barabra,
I am off on holiday for a week. (bad timing I want to take this further). My Uncle that would possibly know about these things is also out of the country. I will look into all this as soon as possible on my return. I know that there were Ash men that were in the war - and Henry Edwin b 1897 - d WW1. She does not mean Donnah that went over there - He is still alive. And...... yes the Ash family are hush hush, which only adds to my need to know,!
I will email you when I get back. Kay.
