I am a Jelinek from OH.
I have been researching the Bickers ( Lizzie--who married a Jelinek.) I believe this is the same family. They are from Baden, Germany. I have the census records from 1865. That is what is listed as their home.

Suzanne Jelinek
Florentine F. Bicker, Jul 1833, Lippe-Detmold

I am looking for information about my great great grandmother.
Florentine F. Bicker married Johann Christoph Nieweg (Chris) 1857.
Lived in Maries County, Missouri.

Here's everything I know:
Born Jul 1833 Germany (Lippe-Detmold, Preuben, Liem ... Different documents list these variations)

Arrived Dec 8, 1857 on ship Zuns (Bremen to New York) with Chris. He originally came in 1855, so he must have gone back to Germany to get Florentine.

Married Johann Christoph Nieweg December 18, 1857 in St. Louis.
Marriage Document lists him as John C. Nieweg. (Civil War pass lists him as Christopher; grave marker as Chris.)

There are marriage documents in St Louis, but the ship record lists her as Florentine Niewege and Christian Niewege. So I don't know if they were first married in Germany, and then again in the US.

Looking for
1) actual date of birth and place in Germany.
2) parents
3) full name Florentine F...... What's the F stand for?
4) death date (grave marker just says "grandmother Flora"). She and Chris both died after the 1870 census dated July 9, 1870 and before the 1880 census. My cousin says my grandmother said some epidemic was going around and took them both, resulting in a community stir about letting their eldest son, August William be head of household and responsible for his 6 younger siblings. August was 19 on the 1870 census. Not sure of Flora's and Chris' death, so don't know how old he was when they died, or if the eldest daughter Mary Charlotte Nieweg married before or after their deaths. Chris' brother August Nieweg and spinster sister Johanna (Hanna) Nieweg did live nearby.

Ruth E. French
ziaref@cox.net
I also believe she lived in Milton Regis, Sittingbourne during the 20's.
Hi, I was born a Bicker in Bradford, Yorkshire in 1964. My Father was GEORGE STANLEY MICHAEL BICKER. Born in 1918, I think he was born in Ireland as he had a strong accent. He died in 1977, in Bradford, Yorkshire. He had brothers... DERMOTT BICKER, WILF BICKER and I think a TOM BICKER. There are other siblings but can't think of their names at the moment. I have BICKER relatives in Hereford and Yorkshire.
Ring any bells with you?
My birth name is SHARON ANGELA BICKER. (always called Angela though)

Capt. Bicker, Waldron, Van Wie, De la Montague,Witbeck

Not long ago while at the NYC Library I found evidence within The Inconography of Manhattan Island (pg. 808) that Colonial NY Upper Hudson Valley boys, Witbeck and Van Wie’s cousin, Samuel Waldron was indeed among the NYC “Sons of Liberty” An article published in the New York Journal, March l9th l770 tells of celebrations hosted by Waldron at his Long Island Ferry house in conjunction with others at Abraham de la Montague’s tavern located on Broadway and also that of Capt. Bicker. On the lst anniversary of the repeal of the Stamp Act, among the 45 toasts offered up by 300 gentlemen, freeholders, and Freemen of the city, “real friends to liberty” one was drank to the “Sons of Liberty” in America-unaniminity among all the Sons of Liberty in America and Perseverance to the glorious cause.
(A week later Capt. Bicker’s tavern was attacked by British Soldiers)

During this energized season of political campaigns surely it is appropriate to remember our patriots-both present and past and while looking back to find a future-recognize not only the battles fought during the American Revolution, but the long, hazardous struggle that proceeded the war for independence.

Freedom is not free. Freedom has never been free.

Gloria Waldron Hukle
www.authorgloriawaldronhukle.com

I would just like to clarify for everyone that there are 3 Moses Bicker's that I know of in Kent, England. The first Moses' dates are C1778-1853. The second is his son Moses, born 1825. The third is his grandson Moses, (the son of William Bicker), born in 1847. I can supply any other information on these three plus other members of the family. I would love to hear from any one who is connected with this family. But I would particularly like to hear from anyone who has been able to find out where the first Moses was born. That is my brick wall.

Bobby Joe Hammon remarried and had a son, Kelly Joe Hammon, maybe changed to Bicker when mother remarried later. Kelly Jo was born June 17, 1967, in the St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kansas.

His mother's name was Saundra Lea Hammon. Her parents were Warren Spear, lived in Overland Park, Kansas, and Lillian Cummings, lived in Wichita, Kansas. Kelly Joe's last name may have been changed to his mother's maiden name or he could have been adopted by a step-father.

Bobby Joe was born 4/24/1931 in Meeker, Oklahoma and his parents were Mansur Cleveland Hammon and Edna May Hammon (Wheeler). Died April 19, 2006 in Wichita, Kansas.

Have been looking for Kelly for years as I don't think that he knows that he has 3 half brothers and 2 half sisters out there, from Bob's previous marriage to our mother, Reba Beatrice Hammon (Chenoweth).

I don't know what Saundra's husbands name was, but I was told that he died in Colorado. I would appreciate any information anyone has........

Hi.

I corresponded with you a couple of years ago.

My Bicker ancestors came from around Ash and Ware(a very small village) in Kent.
My GGGrandfather William Frederick Bicker was born Ware in 1847
According to the IGI his father was Stephen Bicker a carpenter, birth date unknown.

William Frederick Bicker turns up in Wallington near Croydon where several other Bicker familes resided.

I would suggest that you and I are related as both families come from the same area, however, finding the link may be elusive.

I can be contacted at spike2@austarmetro.com.au if you need or have additional information.

bye
Alan Bicker

I am also a Yorkshire Bicker connection! Although I don't recognise any of the names you have posted. I was born to George Bicker in Yorkshire 1964. I suspect he was married previously as he was 46 years old when I was born. I know absolutely nothing of him before my birth. I know he had a brother named Tom who had a son called Paul who would be in his thirties by now. George also had a brother Dermot and a sister Liz. There are others but I can't remember all of them. George married my mother Wendy Naylor in Bradford in 1964.
Any information would be greatly appreciated. By the way, he was Irish. I belive he was from Dublin. The name 'points pass' seems to stand out.
Cheers.

Hi, My Birthname was Bicker. I was born in Bradford, Yorkshire in 1964. My father was George Stanley Michael Bicker. He was Irish, I believe he was originally from Dublin. He died on December 24 1977 aged 59.
He had a brother called Tom, a sister called Liz and another brother called Dermot, I'm not sure of the spelling of Dermot. Tom had a son called Paul who would be in his thirties now.
Does this tie in with any Bickers that you know of? I'm trying to get a background on him as he died when I was only 13 and I would like to compile a family tree for my daughter who never knew her grandfathers.
Thank you, Angela Roberts nee Bicker.

Hello, Mark--

Although it's been awhile, I noticed your posting and think we have a match. Here's the data I have:

Anne Classen Becker (looks pretty Anglicized)
b. 22 Apr 1830
m. Heinrich. C Reckmeyer 14 July 1853
d. 20 May 1902 in Bushnell IL

She is my gggGrandmother, and her daughter Catherine married Henry Conrad Reineke. Like you, I don't seem to have any more info on the Becker/Bicker line (although I love the tragic story about ice skating), but I'm hoping you might have more on the Reckmeyers beyond Henrich C.

Many thanks, and best wishes!

Merlyn Reineke
Kensington MD
