thank you for posting this info... I have just discoverd a connection to wife, Margaret b. 1876 Boston.. who was the daughter of Charles Bullard and Alice Tenney, who died in 1909. Alice is also buried in Woodlawn so assuming her daughter is close by..

Would anyone have info on the Bullard line?? Wishing to know when Charles died. I believe he was alive in 1930.

Margaret had a brother, Fisher Bullard, who I am trying to document.. Wishing to know when he died as well..

does anyone know who William C. Biddle is descendant of??

tks in advance..

sheilah

Hi,

I just posted an old death notice for Henrietta BIDDLE, daughter of John & Amelia BIDDLE of Brooklyn, NY.
This was scanned from an original issue (NOT microfilm!) of The New-York Times newspaper (NY, NY) dated December 14, 1863, and you can see it online here:

http://theoldentimes.com/hlbiddle12141863nyny.html
I hope it's helpful!

Barbara
http://theoldentimes.com/old_news_ny.html
http://theoldentimes.com/deaths.htm
http://theoldentimes.com
This thread is so long ago, but... I have a Hiland Biddle IRELAND, born 5 MAY 1813, New Jersey, died 7 JUL 1868, Lyons, Wayne County, New York. Hiland was the son of Rev. Daniel IRELAND (Thomas IRELAND & Sarah SEELEY)and Martha Rebecca Unknown, but hopefully BIDDLE.
Hiland married Cornelia Jane WELCH in Lyons, Wayne County, New York and they named a son Nicholas Biddle IRELAND.
The BIDDLE surname is not found anywhere in the IRELAND line, so I'm hoping that Martha Rebecca Unknown just might be a BIDDLE.
I would love to exchange information with anyone who has come across this BIDDLE & IRELAND connection.

Judy

(MY GREAT GRANDFATHER)

I believed my grandfather was eventually orphend? Don't know why? But he had family who raised him in dukinfield and he also had conections with torquay, (poss a hotel.) Its also possible he had cousins/relatives in America. My Grandad died in 1982.

I believe he might have had several sisters and I'm unsure re a brother. But they all might have had a connection with either stalybridge & dukinfield area of tameside.

How's best to start? Can u help? Pointers?

I think my Biddle family is related to the first group you posted. But, I am not able to connect Timothy Biddle to the family for sure.

So far I have only found one slim connection between Timothy Biddle in Greene County and Timothy Bedell in New Jersey. The book "history of Greene County" mentions Isaac Biddle is the son of Timothy Biddle and Mary Taylor both Natives of New Jersey.

The Book "Family records, or genealogies of the first settlers of Passaic Valley and Vicinity above Chatham with their ancestors and descendants as far as can now be ascertained" by John Littell says the following: Timothy Bedell, son of Benjamin Bedell and Sarah Herriman, married Chloe Hedges. (she died) It goes on to say Timothy sold the farm in Basking Ridge and moved to Western Pennsylvania.

That slim reference is the only thing I have right now connecting the two. Do you have anything else?
I had thought we were also from William Bedell from 1681, but my branch from Robert Bedell of Hempstead Long Island around 1640 changed the spelling to Biddle in the 1700's.

Descendents of both in central pennsylvania, both from new jersey, thought they were kinn, but it appears not in this country. You might find a match following forward from Robert Bedell of Hempstead.
Looking for information on Albert Preston Biddle, b. 26 Jan. 1877. He sometimes went by the name of Preston Biddle. Married to Alice A. Dougherty in 1897. They lived in Wilmington, Delaware. Records conflict as to whether Albert was born in Maryland or Delaware. I cannot find a birth or death record or any census record after 1910. I have no record of his parents' names. Alice and Albert's children included Albert F., George, Marie, Harry, John and Preston. Alice died in 1919.

Melvin Earl "Bud" Biddle

Rank: Private First Class
Organization: U.S. Army
Company: Company B
Division: 517th Parachute Infantry
Born: Daleville, Ind. 25 Nov 1923
Died: 16 Dec 2010
Entered Service At: Anderson, Ind.
G.O. Number: 95
Date of Issue: 10/30/1945
Place / Date: Near Soy, Belgium, 23-24 December 1944

Citation
He displayed conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action against the enemy near Soy, Belgium, on 23 and 24 December 1944. Serving as lead scout during an attack to relieve the enemy-encircled town of Hotton, he aggressively penetrated a densely wooded area, advanced 400 yards until he came within range of intense enemy rifle fire, and within 20 yards of enemy positions killed 3 snipers with unerring marksmanship. Courageously continuing his advance an additional 200 yards, he discovered a hostile machinegun position and dispatched its 2 occupants. He then located the approximate position of a well-concealed enemy machinegun nest, and crawling forward threw hand grenades which killed two Germans and fatally wounded a third. After signaling his company to advance, he entered a determined line of enemy defense, coolly and deliberately shifted his position, and shot 3 more enemy soldiers. Undaunted by enemy fire, he crawled within 20 yards of a machinegun nest, tossed his last hand grenade into the position, and after the explosion charged the emplacement firing his rifle. When night fell, he scouted enemy positions alone for several hours and returned with valuable information which enabled our attacking infantry and armor to knock out 2 enemy tanks. At daybreak he again led the advance and, when flanking elements were pinned down by enemy fire, without hesitation made his way toward a hostile machinegun position and from a distance of 50 yards killed the crew and 2 supporting riflemen. The remainder of the enemy, finding themselves without automatic weapon support, fled panic stricken. Pfc. Biddle's intrepid courage and superb daring during his 20-hour action enabled his battalion to break the enemy grasp on Hotton with a minimum of casualties.

CHOHS.org http://www.cmohs.org/recipient-detail/2640/biddle-melvin-e.p...

Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Melvin_E._Biddle

********
Not related.
Colin, Thanks for contacting me. I'm at a conference for the next four days so will be in touch early next week. In the meantime, could you let me know which of Thomas's children was your ancestor.
It's been a while since I looked at this line but I vaguely remember that there were two Samuel Biddle's who married Emma Beasley's in Harbury and their children had similar names as well. Will be in contact.
All the best, Sylvia .. Brisbane

Hi
I know it goes back some time but I have noted with interest your post. I have a common ancestor in Samuel Biddle and Emma Beasley through Thomas Biddle 29.11.1869. My mother was a Biddle.
Thomas married Eliza White and emigrated to Australia.
I would be very interested in any Biddle photos that you may wish to share.
Regards
Colin Baker
Australia

Henry Biddle parents

I am looking for the correct Biddle line for my Henry Biddle b.ca.1805-1809. Henry says on the 1850 and 1860 census's (Madriver tsp., Champaign Co. Ohio) that he was born in Virginia. In the 1870 (Whitley Co. Ind.) and 1880 (Johnson tsp,Champaign Co. Ohio), he says Ohio. He was married to Sarah "Sally" Sybert/Siebert at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Oct 27, 1830 by Wm.Fuson, M.G. - Henry and Sarah were listed in the minutes of the church as members in 1850 and 1852. By 1863 they moved to Whitley Co., Indiana (prob. with sons Hiram and Andrew) - however, by 1880, they had moved back to St. Paris precinct, Johnson tsp., Champaign Co. Ohio, where they were living with daughter Matilda and her husband Frank Virick/Wirick at ages 70 and 75. I have not yet found their burial places.
Sarah was the daughter of Henry Sibert and Catherine Lichlieter, married 15 Apr 1805 Shenandoah Co. Va, where they are on the 1810 and 1820 census; and in Champaign Co. Ohio on the 1830 and 1840 census. The Sieberts moved to Ohio between the birth of a daughter in Va. 1826 and marriages of older daughters Mary "Polly" 1827, Sophia 1829 and Sarah 1830 in Ohio. I have not found their burials yet; they may be at Mt Pleasant as there are missing stones there.
On the enumeration 1796, Index to persons in the Ohio Counties of Montgomery and Greene Co. Ohio 1796-1810 (Greene, Clark and Champaign co's were part of this) there are only 4 Biddles listed: Clement who owns land, and Henry, John and Lewis residents. Henry Biddle's son Hiram listed his birth 1838 as Greene Co. Ohio in his Civil War enrollment - I am thinking one of the 1796 enumeration Biddles could feisibly be Henry's father... but there are also Biddles in Va. by the Sieberts, and perhaps they travelled north together? Any help appreciated, Nels

Following is about Christina Biddle (1791-1866) of Howell, Monmouty Co., NJ.
