HI I have been researching for years and cannot find anything on Gabriel billard
who everyone believes was born in st malo, nievre, bourgogne, france however i went to a French site and used a translator and he may not have been born there so some say but in another area close to st malo and not inland.
I have joined a french site and i received info to go to an archive but i cannot read the french to find out anything. Would you be interested in helping me? I have everything on the Billards from Newfoundland past and present but nothing from France.

GO to ngb chebucto dot org it is a nfld site which has all the births deaths and baptisms and marriages so if they were born or died in nfld you will find it on this site. It might take time but it will be there if for any reason they were born or moved to the United states join ancestry world to find the info there.

Try going to the nab chebucto dot org site it is all about Newfoundland and they have all the births and deaths and baptisms listed there if they were born in Newfoundland which i think a lot of Billards were. I am trying to track gabriel billard born in France in 1784 with no luck of course. if i find hannah i will send you an email

my branch of billards came from Alcase Lorain, but were german. they then moved to honesdale, pa and spread out through pensylvania and possibly ny, etc near there. some of the few billards in my family i know 100% are
1. Joseph Billard (married Margaret Fensch)
2. John Billard (married Mary Rodine)
3. Raymond Billard (married Helen Basney)
any info on any of these people would be greatly appreciated

HI yes I heard Joannie passed away but did not know the details. Do you know if anyone is looking after her web site? I did get my family geneology done and up to date just have to type it all now. We did all come from the ones joannie had posted but i had to search records for proof. I found it interesting to do. Which one are you under as Martin is related on my side.

Just noticed your Query. I have this Register. Your information is correct. This has to be an error on the part of the transcriber, as the parents of Lucie Duplanie, did not marry until 1860.
The entry is as follows:

Felix Biard, son of Jn-Baptiste and Josephine Laviolette
married 8 March 1836
Lucie Duplanti, dau of Gabelius and Lucie Brazeau

also
Napoleon Biard, son of Jn-Baptiste and Josephine Laviolette
married 15 Feb 1892
Adeline Duplanti, dau of Gabelius and Lucie Brazeau

Perhaps the correct date for Lucie and Felix is actually 1896

Hi, my last name is Villar, from Chile. My father said that he descended from a man with the last name del Villar who was French. That man went to Chile during the 1600's or 1700's. he was a slave trader. or "encomendero", who worked for the crown. If anybody has any new info or any info please let me know. Thanks.

Actually there were two Billard brothers who came over from France on a fishing boat but they jumped ship so my grandfather said. I am trying to trace this as well without much success. There was a Frenchman in Newfoundland but I cannot get it from there to the present yet. Betty

I have just begun researching the same family line. My husband's father was Victor Harvey BILLARD, your wife's eldest brother. Recently met with Allie and Mac in Gander to collect verbal info and look at photos and documents. Perhaps we could join forces and share info?

(cannot decipher his occupation)

H????? age 22

(I suspect this is your ggfather)

Any of this make sense?

to find an email that there was a reply to my earlier post. I had hoped to
hear from you, then totally forgot about this board. I would have found it
again eventually, but glad it let me know you had replied.

I am sorry to hear about your husband and hope you are faring OK.

Now, William Rushmore Billard is NOT your garden variety name, so I
STRONGLY believe we're talking about the same guy. All the Billards
in my listing are originally from the Cutchogue/Southold area on the
North Fork of eastern Long Island, New York. Do you have ANY other
info on him? siblings, aunts/uncles, anything to help make (or disprove)
a connection?

I do think you are correct that the William R Billard you have marked is my grandfather.

Oddly enough my husband passed away unexpectedly on 2-14-01 the night before you posted . My life changed dramatically and i'm just now searching again.

My Gr. grandfather Percy Wallage, was married twice according to his obit., however his second wife isn't named. He and his first wife divorced in 1931, and Minnie Billard was mentioned in the divorce papers as the other woman. I am hoping someone out there may know more about her, to lead me to know whether she would be wife number 2. I don't know much about her other then in June of 1929 she and Percy was living together as husband and wife, at the time of 1929 Percy was 43, so Minnie may of been around this age.
Any advice or information would be appreciated.

Thank you, but I don't think it is the same line. I have never been able to find a connection between the Newfoundland Billards and the Ontario/Quebec ones. Besides the Victor I have was married to Alexina Boyer.

Looking for connections to a Victor LLewlyn Billard of Channel-Port aux basques. Most of the Cencus don't go past 1935 and my wife was born in 1940. Therefor we haven't as of yet found any thing on the family except from living relitives (only two left on the rock). Any help? My wife is Laura D. and we live in Ind. Let me know.

Does anyone have access to the Ste-Madeleine de Rigaud marriage registers for 1802-1972? I need to verify the following information: Félix Biard married to Lucie Duplantie, March 3, 1836, Ste-Madeleine de Rigaud, Quebec. I need confirmation that the date is right and also who Felix's parents were. I have a discrepancy somewhere and I no longer have access to this information. Can someone help me?

They had a daughter name Rosalie Billard born or baptised March 22, 1882. I'm wondering if this ring any bells with anyone or if anyone has access to this register. I would assume from the info you provided that your grandfather's family would be descendants of Gabriel Billard. I also am descended from one of Gabriel's sons. Have you traced your ancestors back beyond Grand Bruit?

Marie-Rose Billard's parents were Timothe Billard and Elilie LaTour.......so it's very possible. I don't know much else. It sounds as though it might be a match.

The Billard name has roots in England and in France. So far in my research, I have not heard of any connection with Germany. My father, Albert was born in Green Valley Ont. on Jan. 27th 1902 and died in Montreal Quebec Canada on the 27th of April 1971. I am French Canadian so we may have some relation. I am doing genealogy research on my ancestors. My father's name is Albert Billard and he was born In Green Valley Ontario Canada on January 26th 1902 and died in Montreal on April 17th 1971. His father's name was Olivier Billard and his mother's name was Julie Laframboise. His brothers were, J. Louis, Arthur, Paul and his sister's names were Irene, Rose, Louise and Julie. If anyone has ties to these people, I would like to exchange further information.
