My mother was Lucille Dora Blackmon Hudson.
I had heard of M C Blackmon. He was the blackest of the black sheep. I would like to know about this fellow human being who died before i was born in 1938.
Lucille died in 1986
Ida had no children and she was under our care (Ann my wife and me ) until she died at 100 in 2006.
I just heard from my cousin Liz whose father is Gary son of Alda. She and another cousin Bill Blackmon are looking into the Blackmon family history

Blackmons of Lancaster County, South Carolina

I'm a descendant of the Blackmons of Lancaster County, South Carolina. My ancestors lived in Pleasant Hill & Heath Springs. My 3rd Great Grandparents were Marion Blackmon & his wife Hannah. Marion was born abt. March 1849. His birth date was different in every census. But, I always go with the earlier documentation. I would imagine the later documents are less accurate as it can be harder to remember by then. They had 8 children.

**** JERRY ****They named their 4th child Jerry. I would love to meet the descendants of Jerry because they may be able to tell me more about him. Or maybe I can tell them more about Hannah.

Marion have a James & Lizzie listed as his younger siblings on a census record. I think Lizzie may have been short for Eliza or Elizabeth. Am not sure though. He named one of his sons James born about 12 years after his little brother. I would love to meet the descendants of Marion's siblings. Because I don't have information on Marion's parents. Maybe they would.

Marion was only born about 1849-1860 so it shouldn't be hard to find out. (birth year was different on every census)

Did any of our ancestors fight in the Revolutionary War or Civil War? I love my family and would LOVE to know ALL about us. Please contact me ASAP.

*****My ancestors are Black, but, if you're not Black and think you may have an attachment to this line or possibly information, please do not hesitate to contact me.

I will message you again when I know for sure, my mother is in the rest home @ Lake Waccamaw. She knows a lot of the family history. Also I just learned today there is a man in the Old Dock area that has a book tracing the Blackmon family back to Civil War times. When I find out more I'll let you know. I"m on facebook (Joey Blackmon) and my e-mail is blackmonjoey152@yahoo.com.Blackmon

Era Blackman and J W Strickland are my grandparents. They married 2 April 1908 Coffee County. Era's full name is Mattie Lue Eary Blackman. Born 24 July 1891. Her parents are Samuel J. Blackman and Mary Floyd, Married 17 July 1884 in Crenshaw County. The only information on Samuel is he was born about 1854. His father died in the Civil War and his mother died in a house fire when he was 1 day old. Mattie Lue Earys siblings are Jimmy, Annie Mytle, Henry, Mainy, Nobie. Any information on this family would be most greatfull. Thanks for the post, Lynne

Ora Mae was the mother of my Grandpa, she passed away when he turned 12, and his father passed away at 8. My Grandpa was then raise by Ora's brother, Shelton Blackmon. My Grandfather has no pictures, never seen one for that matter, or his parents or grandparents. I'm desperately searching as hard as I can to try and obtain one. If you have no pictures, or know of where I can find one, I'd still love to hear any stories or tid-bits to share regarding Ora Mae and/or Harley Dexter.

I'm looking for info on Jack Blackmon/Blackman. He was born 1912 and died 1998. He married Dorothy Brooks who was from Yazoo City. I believe he lived in Alabama, but not sure. I can't find who his parents were. He's my great-grandfather, but I never met him.

Thanks,
Melissa

Urvin was married to Missouri, I was not aware that your Ella was possibly not one in the same. MY Ella was eldest sister of Nora (my G.Grandmother). Children of Urvin and Missouri were: Ella Cordelia, James E "Ed", Ira W, Mary Lee, John P, Roxie Ann, Myrtle "Maggie", Will, Mercer and Nanny Missouri. I haven't found a William Jackson Blackmon or Joseph Dewitt Blackmon...there are more Blackmons than you can shake a stick at, and the search continues...

Pat
I keep digging and pulling at threads, I actually found Urvin M Blackmon(listed as Urbin M Blackman) today on the Georgia 1890 Property Tax Digest! He owned 191 acres in Whittaker, Militia District 629, Harris County, Georgia! There are 8 other Blackmons listed on this document as well. I have also connected with Ella Cordelia Blackmon's Great Grandson who has information on this line of Blackmons upon them moving to Alabama. This is the first information I have been able to find between the 1870 Federal Census and when he shows up again in the 1900 census in Whittaker, Harris Co, Ga.

Thank you for the reply. As far as I know there is no mention of a father Wylie or brother Nathanial. Family lore has it that his "Peter's" father passed away and his mother was remarring. Peter and his brothers John and Soloman (mon) ran away and ended up in Alabama, with Peter ending in Clarke county, Mississippi. All 3 brothers were born in South Carolina.
Harold

Hi Bob, Linda Daughter of William John from 2nd set of children. I went to a cousins reunion once several years back but do not have any contact with your side of the family. I do recall Logan's Point at a church with cemetery out back. Do you know the place? Do they still meet?
By the way we buried Billy Ray last week, sudden heart attack. His father n law Jim Cooper has been researching our family history here.
I always thought there were 4 children with both wives and found your side had a fifth, son Joshua. My dad was birthed with initials W J, and changed to William John. I have a brother who was a Jr. The names were Sampson, William, Myrtle & Rosalie. My father came to Houston in early 1950 and in the automobile business. My dad born 1914 in Jasper, Tx and deceased in 1965.
Where were you living when growing up in LA?
