Clara Dunston-Samuel Miller genealogy

Clara Dunston or Dunstan married Samuel F. Miller in Excelsior, Richland County, WI on 3/11/1869. Clara was born June 27, 1852, the daughter of John Dunston and Lydia Blair. I know that Clara had a brother William Warren. Apparently her parents died early and she & her brother were then raised by grandparents in WI. This info was found in sworn statements in a widow's file of government benefits.

Sam Miller and Clara Dunston had 10 or 11 children. The first few born in WI and the rest born in IA. Sam died in Benton County IA in 1906. I do not know when and where Clara died or is buried.

Clara and Sam Miller's children included a set of twins and were:

Wayne 1870
Andrew 1871
Edward 1876
Voletta 1878
John B.1880
Lena 1885
Clarence 1888
Clyde 1888
Robert V. 1891
Richard E. 1893

I'm hoping to find out where some of Clara & Sam's children ended up and also would like more info on her Dunston/Dunstan and Blair lines. Thanks Donna

Blairs of Grayson or Edmonson Co. Ky

Hi, I am trying to find information on my great-grandmothers family. She was Viola Blair. Her father was George Washington Blair who was married to Susan R. Bradley. George Washington Blair was the son of William Blair, born 1805. William was the son of Henry Blair. There is some confusion as to which Henry Blair this is and Who his father was. Some say his father was named John Jeremiah Blair. I can find no information on a John Jeremiah Blair. Some say Henry's father was William Blair. Viola was from Grayson Co. Ky. Any help is appreciated.
Donna Hammonds
dahammonds@bellsouth.net

Alexander Blair abt. 1825 Scotland

I am looking for any information about Alexander Blair born about 1825 Scotland. According to the 1861 UK Census Alexander was married to Elizabeth. This fits in with our family history up to this point. I have no idea where Alexander is from in Scotland or what Elizabeth's maiden name is. I have no idea at this point where to look. I'm at that brick wall.

I believe that Alexander died between 1861-1871 because he does not show up in the 1871 UK Census. And Elizabeth shows up as "WIDOW".

Any help would be appriciated.

Thank You,
Kimberley Page

It appears that this family member of mine was a "BARRISTER AT LAW" and his wife "PALINI" was a "DOCTOR of MEDICINE."
The only listings that I can find for George is in various census results, the last being in 1901 UK Census.
He also appears to have served as an Officer [Lt. Colonel] in the 'BITISH EXPEDITIONARY FORCE" in WWI.
I suspect that at some stage he was in India but there is no firm evidence of this.
What help can someone come up with? Did they have children? When did they marry? Where did they marry? When did they die?

I am seeking the parents of John Blair b. 1819-20 married Margaret Skiles. They lived in Leacock Township, Lancaster County, PA during the 1850 Census with the following children listed: Mary 6, Simon Lemon 4, John William 3, Elizabeth 2. Later children were George S. 1851 or 1853 and Emma about 1856 and some family members have a Susan. The family seems to have moved about 1852 but I have not been able to find the new location.
I am researching my family connections from Bradford to many parts of the world. Alexander BLAIR b 1875 in Yorkshire, but listed on many documents as being born in Ayrshire Scotland.
It appears he lived in Toronto and was a Merchant/Commercial Traveller. A marriage to Annie seems to have happened prior to March,1906 and where that took place is not established. Could be Canada. He travelled a great deal between North America and UK.
My Grandfather (William) was a brother, and migrated to New Zealand. Another brother (Andrew) migrated to New York, and I have not established what happened to 2 sisters and one other brother.
Any help will be appreciated. I have a fair bit of detail of his ancestors and am happy to share any information that may be of interest.
Wallace

Blair in Washington State

I'm trying to find any info on my grandfather, Elmer Albert Blair who lived in the Colville/Kettle Falls area of Washington State. He was a sawyer by trade and moved with his wife, Dorothy Bardon into BC, Canada, where my father, Carleton Elmer Blair, was born on Apr. 3 1927 in Cranbrook, BC. Elmer eventually moved back to the area in Washington State where he passed away and is now buried. I think his date of birth would be around 1895, and date of death around 1935. Any help would be much appreciated, thank you.

I'm trying to trace my g-g-grandfather's family history. His name was Alexander Blair. He was born in Vermont in 1823. He married Sarah Smalley in Brandon, Vermont about 1845. Before moving to LaCrosse, Wisconsin (about 1860), they had five children born in Brandon (Frank, Ella, Roland, Charles and Sarah). Any assistance in helping trace Alexander's ancestors will be greatly appreciated.

HELP! I have hit a snag. I have obtained the obit for Clarence Blair. He died in Oregon and the obit says that Edith (his wife) and a daughter reside in Detroit Michigan. I am Clarence's niece. My dad and Clarence were separated after their mother died in 1922. Both boys were put in the Davis Children's Home in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. My dad was adopted, but Clarence wasn't.My quest is to find a living relative so that I can find a picture of my grandparents (Michael and Mary Blechl Blair) and fill in the blanks of my family records.
Thanks,Eileen Lambert

I am looking for any living relative to Joseph E. Blair. He was born in North Okaw, Illinois in Dec 1879. I do not have an exact birth date. His father was James Blair born in Ohio about 1850. James married a Pelina ?. James Blair had several children. The following are the only ones I know of and there may be more. Susan, Alfred, Robert & Joseph Blair. With Joseph being my great grandfather. This Blair family lived in Ohio, Illinois, Indiana and Nebraska for sure. My great grandfather Joseph Blair was married to a Claire Richards for a short period of time. They were married about 1900 and I believe divorced by 1903. I am trying to locate anyone who knows this Blair family and can shared information with me. I would like to know more about my great grandfather and where he may have died. Thanks so much for any help you may be able to lend.

I noticed DNA testing mentioned in a couple of recent messages and decided it might be a good time to update the list on the Blair DNA Project. I'm John Blair, the Project Administrator. To learn all the details on the Blair DNA Project please visit http://blairdna.com/

The Blair DNA Project now has 147 participants from 7 different countries including Australia, Canada, England, Japan, Northern Ireland, Scotland, and United States.

134 test results have been received. 100 participants with 78 oldest known ancestors have been grouped together into 9 groups. Participants are included in groups when their test results closely match other participants with whom they DO NOT share a known oldest ancestor. 14 other participants are in included in a category referred to as UnGrouped Matches (UGMs). UGMs include participants who closely match other participants with whom they DO share a known oldest ancestor.

For more information go to http://blairdna.com/

Scottish DNA - Better than Life Insurance
John
------------------------------------
John A.

Hello, I'm trying to find information on my mother's grandmother's family, the Blairs of Edmonson Co. Ky. My great grandmother was Susan Nancy "Blair" Ritter. Her parents were George Edward Blair and Martha Jane Miles. George was married before to a Martha M. Louise Age (died around 1866). I have five children listed with wife # 1 and 10 listed with wife # 2. Group 1; James A., b.1852; Joseph Ransome, b.1854; William Benjamin, b.1856; Mary Jane, b.1858; Sarah Ann, b.1862.
Group 2; Susan Nancy, b.1866?; Jerusica/Jarushia Elizabeth, b.1869; Rachel E.,b.1871; Margaret Louisa, b.1873; George Edward (Jr.),b.1876; Laura Apaloni,b.1879; Flora Alice, b.1880; Twins Renale Elizabeth and Isabelle, b.1883; Elijah, b.1886.
The 1870 census for Edmonson Co.,Ky. listed Sousan N. as being 10/12mos. Also, there is an older girl, Annie 23, listed as house maid. Since no last name is given I assume she's a Blair. James A. and Mary Jane died before that census.
Susan N. has the date on her tombstone of Aug. 20, 1866 for her birth and Aug. 08, 1940 for her death. This doesn't jive with the census.
Would love to hear from some cousins to compare notes and trade information.

Searching for decendants working on this Blair line. John Brown Blair, son of Henry Brown Blair, is my g-grandfather. John married Margaret Quiterria Bryant in Ozark, MO in 1869. My grandmother stated Margaret, her mother, was part indian. John and Margaret moved with their family to IT and settled around Scipio and Enterprise. There is some belief that Malinda Cox was Henry's 2nd wife?. Henry and Malinda were both from KY. John was born in MO in 1848. Family stated that Malinda is buried in Lavoca, AR. Would welcome any information or leads on this Blair family .

Blair's from Indiana - Ft. Wayne Area

My grandfather was Charles Harvey "Pappy" Blair. He was born in Oklahoma in 1922. Shortly after his birth his family moved back to Indiana and then Michigan. Charles also had two brothers - one named Jim and I beleive the other was George.

His father Vaughn Leroy Blair was originally from Indiana. He may have been born around 1890-1900. Vaughn's father was Charles Harve Blair and I guess he was born around 1860-1870. From the Fort Wayne, Indiana area.

I know that there must be a lot of Blair's in the Fort Wayne area that I am related to because my grandmother says that every year the Blair family holds a family reunion in or around Fort Wayne Indiana. She said that this reunion has been an annual event for years.

I have a picture that I beleive lists a lot of cousin's on that side of the family. It was taken on Feb. 24, 1952. There is an old man and woman surrounded by children and the back of the picture says it was there golden anniversary. The man and woman are just listed as mom and dad. The names of the children are: Bonetha Mae, Rose Marie, Margaret, Mildred, Verla Ree, Ronald, Bill, Darrel, Bernard, Roberta, Janice, Jean Ann, and the last name looks like Doris Ann.

Do any of these Blair's seem familiar to anyone out there?
