I am interested in a Joseph Blakey born in Holton cum Beckering about 1823 and married to Mary Jane Bonnett in 1845 with children William (b. 1848), Emily (b. 1850), George (b. 1852), Mary (b. 1854), Eliza (b. 1856), Sarah Ann (b. 1858), Elizabeth (b. 1861), Alice (b.1863), Eliza (b. 1865) all from Benniworth.

Robert Sidney Blakey was also my great grandfather. He was the father of my grandmother, Olivia Bignino Blakely. Her brothers were Clyde and Tom (Babe)and she had a sister, Ina.
I do not have any pictures of any of the family at this time, but there may be some in my mother's things which are stored in Forney. I have not come across a Charles Ray in my searching yet, but will let you know if I do.

Are you related to Doyle and Bertha Withrow?

My grandparents were James Thomas Blakey ( Tom or Babe) and Nancy Elizabeth Burris Blakey. Robert Sidney Blakey was my great grandfather. I have some photos but only of my great grandparents and grand parents...I am not sure who Charles Ray was...may have been one of Robert Sidney's brothers??? Do you know who Charles Ray's brothers, sisters or parents were?

I have also been seeking photo's of the Blakey's. My grandparent's Charles Ray and Eva Irene Blakey were residing in Whitewright and Kentucky Town in Grayson County, TX. My great grandparents lived in Savoy in Fannin, County. I have been in contact with several Blakey's from my line and none have been willing to share photos. I even offered to pay for the cost of copies and shipping costs. If you should find someone willing to share please let me know and I will do the same.

Looking for info. on Rev. Abner Blakey. I believe he was the Brother of my gggrandfather, Benjamin Franklin Blakey. Have really hit a brick wall in locating my gggrandfather so I thought I would try another route. My gggrandfather lived in Arkansas after the Civil War. He was married to Mary Jane Wyatt. He died before the 1880 census. Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks for your reply. It's possible we have a match. My Sarah was the daughter of William Henry Blakey and Mary Ann Nichols, and the eldest of four children: Sarah, William, Esther and George. I don't have any details of her marriage. Yes, the Nichols were silk weavers in Bethnal Green.

If we have a match, I would love to see your tree please.

I may be able to help with Sarah Blakey. I believe that she is the Sarah A Blakey who married Willian Sherwin (b. 1869) and whose children included Willian Albert Sherwin b.1905), who is my maternal grandfather. I believe that the Nichols were silk weavers in Bethnal Green. If that looks like a match I'd be happy to share the tree. Regards

He's a bit of a mystery but I am obtaining his full name and appx date of birth and death from another family member.

As I said he cut all ties with his family when he left the UK and arrived in the US after the Civil War but before 1900.

I don't think we have a match, as my William appears in the English 1871, 1881 and 1891 censuses, and then he died in 1894 in London.

John Joseph Blakey of Berwick & Newcastle, England

Trying to trace the birth record of a John Joseph Blakey (b.Dec 1866 Berwick upon Tweed, England).
He was christened at Holy Trinity Church, Berwick.
He married Margaret Quin at a registry office in 1887.
J.J Blakey died in Newcastle upon Tyne in 1909 and is buried in Byker and Heaton Cemetery, Newcastle.
I have a marriage and death certificate and christening record for J.J but no birth record. Will happily share any info with you. Thanks

Blakey Exonerated

Herbert Blakey, of Beattyville, who was arrested as a deserter from the Second Kentucky, because he had overstayed his leave of absence, has been exonerated by the War Department. Brig. Gen. Roger D. Williams interested himself in the case.

Please send me info on Susan. She is listed in 1900 AR census as being a widow and Sam West is listed as living with her. JWB did not die until 1913, yet he is not listed with Susan.

I have a picture of James W. Blakey and one of Mattie Davis. They are not together. His was taken when he was elderly and her's not sure when taken. I have James Blakey and her's framed. My grandmother Emma Mooney was born here in Liverpool shortly after her parents Joseph Garner Mooney and Emma Blakey moved from yorkshire, wakefield.(1891) Emma's parents were Thomas Blakey, born 1816 and his wike Sarah, surname unknown born High Toynton Lincolnshire 1817. There were quite a few Blakeys about in the Bradford;Leeds;Wakefield area at those times. We are searching for Thomas and his wife sarah to find her surname..Thos. and sarah lived inWakefield in 1851,Bradford in 1861 and Horton in 1871. Allison Kesterton

What period were they living in Yorkshire, and do you have any more detailed location? I can trace ancestors there back to about 1790.

My family of Blakeys came from Yorkshire, in the Leeds area, but they may well have come from Scotland before that. It doesn't sound particularly Scottish though.

james Washington Blakey father was indeed Fountain Stilly Blakey and he married a May Ann Mullins about 1825 in Georgia. They had 5 children found so far.
1. Martha Ann ca 1826- married Washington Reeves abt 1845
2. Emily Blakey abt 1826 married John Oliver 11-12-1856
3. Columbus C. Blakey 2/1830 and died 3-11-1862 in Richmond Va?? Civil War related??
4.James Washington Blakey
5. F.V.D. born and died 10-1836

Fountain parents were David and Sally Sarah Stilly they married on 2-26,1799 in Craven Co. n.c. nO DATES OF BIRTH FOR SURE. Children no dates except Fountain.

Then he said 2 daughter but names unknown.

I do know that James Washington Blakey was the overser on John Wesley Davis plantation before the war. He was then married to a Caroline Gilchrist. Have a little more here if you want. Do you have an pictures of any of them?

I am the granddaughter of Forrest who is the son of Charles Lee and Ella Moreland. Charles Lee was Benjamin's brother. I would like to know what else you have found out. Billy said he would give me some info, but never did.

yes, I have some that I received from a Billy Blakey think he was a son of Cohen Blakey. Will have to look. How do you fit into the Blakey's? I am graddaughter of Ola Mae Blakey Phillips who was daughter of Sally Arant and Benjamin Franklin Blakey.
