Hi Leila,

Thanks for your reply. Max Hill is my dad ;o). I have been updating him with what I have found out so far here in NZ on both sides of the family (Hill and Blanc) and he said he would send me the information he had on the Blanc side (most likely all your hard research work). Annie Hill's (NSW) death certificate has the names Henry and Jane as her parents (so it was a bit confusing) I can now see her father's name was actually Robert.
There is one question I have which you may be able to answer - Was Annie born in NZ? - I cannot find a NZ birth certificate for her so I am assuming she may have been born in Australia. However I checked for a birth certificate in Victoria and couldn't find one there either - did they live in another state at anytime?

I am certainly enjoying finding out a bit more about Dad's family and the history they have in this country. All the best.

Cheers
Penny

Hello,

Just doing a bit of family history and discovered my great grandma amongst your names - Annie Hill (nee Blanc).
This is good news as I now can trace back her parents marriage Robert Blanc and Jane Gibson in Melbourne, Australia 1866 (see attached) hope this is of use to you.

Annie moved from Westport to Sydney with her husband Ernest Hill and two sons Arthur and Robert (my paternal grandfather) . She died in 1935.

Cheers

Penny Anderson (nee Hill) now living in NZ

Blanc/Blong from Ireland to Ohio

In order to get information that is not available in Ireland because of the destruction or non existence of records, I am trying to get hold of the marriage details of a marriage in Ohio of:-

THOMAS BLONG Marriage: SARAH JANE WILLIAMS on 13 FEB 1856 , in Hamilton, Ohio {source code 5-P-L (1850-59)}

The family appears to have changed their name to BLANC soon after this.

As a non American it appears to me to be very difficult to get marriage records on line. Is there any way of getting Thomas Blong/Blanc's parents details from his marriage cert.

As far as I can gather one has to contact local probate court, who do not accept online applications.

Is there an easy way for me to get details of this marriage.

I don't know where in Mexico but I have 2 photos taken in a Guadalajara studio, dated in early 1900's. One photo seems to be of my grandmother's family when she was a teenager. In a death certificate of my aunt, Concepcion, my grandmother said her maiden name was Duval. I have been totally unable to find any info on my family beyond 1925. Hopefully, we have a connection.
Thanks - Nancy

It seems most of the Blancs formorly leBlanc and leBlanc Du Perce
came around mid /late 1600.s.The first French Records was of a Claude LeBlanc and a Pierre LeBlanc Claude had a meat shop across from the French Church on Fench Church st ,Some LeBlancs went over to England , Sunbury, Suffock ,andLondon where some similiar names appear,
A Johnny Blanc went to America I am still trying to find out more about him. A family of Blancs were iin San Francisco I have copies of pages of a bible 1836 with names written in it and extracts of a letter between a Charolette and a Jane Blanc both names appear in the writings in the back .There is a picture drawn in pencil of the Barror River bridge at the Kings county and Quees County liner
ie the middle of the bridge,
There are many Blanc in Arcadia Philly etc I havenn't had a chance to do any queries there yet.
But getting back to the origional query .The Blancs or lLe Blancs
were part of the Huguenots Protestants who fled France after the
St Barthomenews Massacre in which 2000 Protestants were murdered for their beliefs. Some went to England they ended up in Ireland because they were recruited to fight for William in Ireland and so were allowed tenancies on lands confisgated from the O'Dempseys. Some went to Canada and America and elsewhere.

This is my deduction from why some Blanc names were written
Blang and Blong etc.We Know in the early years the names were spelt Le Blanc but having looked at the Bible and other documents the "c" at the end has a tail or squiggle on it at least it seams that way and I thing that is why it was now adopted to be pronounced Blang Blong.I must try and find out how the french alphabet was written then.
Sorry about straying from the main point,
Hope i have shared some of my info with you,

Arthur C Blanc

Dear Arthur:
The info you posted about the Blanc's and Okelllys was very interesting particulary since my gg grandparents were Richard Blanc and Nan O'Kelley. I didn't know any Blanc's came from Ireland. However, we know that Nan O'Kelley immigrated from Ireland around 1850 and that the Richard Blanc she married came over from France with his brother and that he dropped the Le from his name so we know it was originally Le Blanc. I was wondering if anyone knew about any Blancs from France.
Thank you
Mary Oklah.

Hi there,
Just a historical old story about the Kellys and the Blancs
Both families were in the meat trade and during the williamite/jacobite wars in Ireland there was great rivalry between the two families as to who would be given the right to the captured and dead animals for butchering. Seemingly the blanc family were given the rights on one side and the O'kellys went on the other side and its believed that the O'Kellys were excecuted after one of the battles.
I'm not sure but if you look through the postings I think I say something about the Blancs and O'Kellys.
Hope this is alittle biyt of history you can search more info on.

Arthur C Blanc
I am looking for descendants of Louis or Robert Blanc. They may also be known under the names Leblanc or White. They moved to New York. Their parents are Joseph Henry Lablanc and Catherine Green. They were born in Trois Rivieres Quebec around the mid 1800's. They had a brother named Henry who moved to Alberta. I am a descendant of Henry and would like to find descendants of his brothers.

(kind of think John Henry may have been born in Indiana, not for sure. But will keep in contact with you, if and when I find out more. My father was from a large family and believe all were born in Ks and 1 or 2 in IT, now Okla. Someone once mentioned that John Henry Blanc was "estranged" from his family.

4 siblings in Whitaker State Home, Pryor OK 1950's

My mother's name is Delores born July 12, 1946. She was in the Whitaker State Home late 40's, early 50's, at a very young age, along with a younger sister, Patricia, and 2 brothers, Marvin and Kenneth. Their birth name is Horner.
My mother was adopted along with Marvin, but he left the adoptive family when he turned 18 and no one has heard from him really since then. Her name was then Delores May Puckett after adoption.
Following her adoptive mother's death in 1999, we found some letters from her brother Kenneth, adopted under the name of Kenneth Ray Blanc. The letters were postmarked in Canton.
Through looking around for info on geneology websites, I have heard from a gentleman also named Kenneth, that he was a cousin of his, and that the uncle named Kenneth that I am searching for, lost an arm in an accident or something of that sort. Said that when his father, Ray Blanc, passed.. that he left and no one heard from him since. Last known place was Tulsa, OK.
I know nothing of Patricia, only that her name was in the records that we got from the courthouse in Pryor in June of 2000.
I don't know much, but I am in need of finding out something.
My mother has had a stroke due to diabetes and also has very bad heart problems. I would like her to spend at least some time with her siblings before she gets much worse.

In advance, thank you for whatever help you can give me.

Kenneth Ray Blanc or Horner

I am looking for Kenneth Ray Blanc, (biological name of Horner) born in Oklahoma, lived in Canton with his adoptive parents for a while, and now his presence is unknown. My mother is Delores. They were adopted in the 1950's, along with another sister who's whereabouts are also unknown. We have two letters that we found after her adoptive mother passed away from Kenneth Ray Blanc postmarked in Canton, OK. I have found that he might have lost an arm in an accident of some sort.
If anyone has an idea of where I can find more info on or even get in touch with him, please don't hesitate to contact me. This is very important to our family.
