To begin find a good genealogy program and start with yourself and work backwards.

You
Your parents
Your grandparents
Great Grandparents
and so forth.

There a many good programs to do genealogy with that vary in price, and some a free.

If you want to establish *your* ethnicity it can only done with solid research, documentation, and/or DNA.

DO NOT make the newbie mistake that family trees and group sheets that can be found on the internet are correct because for the most part they are not. Good solid research takes time, documents, and discipline.

On this board we can help you with research lookups, and advise. If you have a question please be specific with names of deceased ancestors, dates and locations. It helps a lot if you can provide as much info as possible.

Finally, be sure to scroll down to the bottom of this page and read the FAQ, Community Guidelines, and Rules.

If you have any questions please do fire away. ☺

Interesting. My father Lucio met my mother who was from Vera Cruz, Mex. but my grandfather Dionicio met my grandmother (Lucinda DelaRosa) in the northern Mexico/Texas area. My dads brother worked in NY and Florida after WW2. He was Ruben Blanco. They(my grandparents) married about 1917. Although I'm sure it is there, I can't seem to find a connection w/Spain because of poor record keeping and/or lack of communication w/ distant relatives. My father came from a family of nine kids. 7 boys and 2 girls.

My grandfather, Odilo Blanco and my grandmother, Rose Tratazor, came to Johnsville, Cal in early 1900's (via Vera Cruz Mexico & overland stage) and married there. My father, Alfred A. Blanco was born in Johnsville, California in 1912 and his sister, Irene was born there in 1914. He worked for the British America Mining Co. (Eureka Mine). I have a great uncle who once lived in Newburgh, NY, and operated a resort hotel. I have more "great-relatives" (Felix Orejos and daughter Lolina & others) who settled in Havana, Cuba - have not heard about them since the Castro take over.
Does anyone out there recognize the names or know the whereabouts of any of these people or their relatives?

I myself know little of the Blanco family. All I know is that our forfathers, did come from Spain at the ending of the medevil time period. My background is from Central America. And the Washington D.C. area there is alot of Blanco's family in the area. Are there relative, hard to say? Because they come from different latin countries. I'm sorry that I didn't answer your questions.

DEAR JOSE,

MY FATHER, BERNARD HAYWARD GARCIA WAS BORN IN BALTIMORE CITY, MARYLAND, AUG 9, 1913, HE IS THE SON OF GERTRUDE EVELYN LEACH AND JOSE BLANCO GARCIA. I AM BERNARD GARCIA'S DAUGHTER, SUSAN EVELYN GARCIA CARLSON, ONE OF THEM, THERE ARE SIX OF US. I AM A TWIN. I KNOW VERY LITTLE ABOUT MY GRANDFATHER JOSE BLANCO, EXCEPT, THAT HE REMARRIED AND LIVED IN NEW YORK. I WAS TOLD HE WAS A DOCTOR, AND WORKED AT UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL. I FOUND AN OLD NEWSPAPER ARTICLE, I WILL ATTACH, THIS IS THE CLOSEST I HAVE COME TO THIS NAME. CAN YOU HELP? ALSO, I WAS TOLD THAT WHEN MY GRANDFATHER RE-MARRIED HE HAD A SON NAMED JOSE, LIVING IN NEW YORK. IF BY SOME CHANCE YOU ARE THE JOSE I AM LOOKING FOR, I WANT YOU TO KNOW, YOU HAVE A HUGE FAMILY, MOSTLY FROM OHIO, WHO WOULD LIKE TO KNOW MORE ABOUT THE BLANCO GARCIA FAMILY.

THANK-YOU,
SUSAN
I am responding to an old posting, but what the heck. All the research i have done so far indicates that the Blanco name originated in Leon Spain and possibly came over from France. My grandfather and his family is from Ribadesella Spain in the province of Asturias. From there he went to cuba. I live in Tarrytown NY, just north of NYC.

Ferdi,

Since you're from Zambales, do you know any one there who are decendants of Folgeras or Corpus family? They may have relocated because of the eruption of Mount Pinatubo.

Oh, by the way, is your Blanco family of Spanish decent? My Dad mentioned that my great grandfather Vicente Blanco has Spanish blood. Any info would be great! Please email me scblanco@hotmail.com. Thank you in advance, even to those who read this and think they have a connection.

Sherrill

I forgot that I signed up for this site! =) It's been so long since I've logged in. Thank you for your reply, Ferdie. Wouldn't it be neat if we were actually related??

I hope this is not a mere coincidence but my late father's name was VICENTE BLANCO, son of Francisco Reynoso Blanco of Cuyo, Palawan, Philippines. We believe that the earlier Blancos migrated to Palawan from who knows where (probably from mainland Luzon) in maybe the 17th century because my grandfather, Francisco and his siblings were all born and raised there.

I'm thinking that perhaps my father who was born in 1924 could have been named after your grandfather or that their parents may have known each other. My grandfather, Francisco died in 1966, only a few months after I was born in November 1965.

Truly yours,
Ferdie

Hi Ferdi,

My great grandfather is Vicente Blanco who married Eugenia Zapata in the Philippines, but that's all I know for now. They had 5 children. My grandfather Silverio Blanco and his wife Maria Britos are currently alive and well in Dolores, Abra. Do you think we have a connection?

Oh, I read your early posting about Zambales; my Mom's roots are from there, particularly, San Marcelino. She comes from the Dalit or Espiritu family. Her grandmother Cipriana married twice; her maiden name is Arquero. Anyways, if there is any info you can share, my email is scblanco@hotmail.com. Thank you, Ferdie!

Sherrill

I wasn't sure where Mauricio Blanco was born, but I know his father is listed as Jose Rafael Blanco, and he married Maria Montenegro. Send me your email address and I will give all the information that I have on Jose Maria Blanco, including pictures and other bits of information. By the sound of it, you are a distant cousin.
