Noted your reference to the children of John Close Bleakley and Carolyn Mason. My grandfather was one of their sons: Charles Abraham Bleakley. I notice that you don't mention my grandfather's older brother John William. This is a link to an entry about him in the ANU Australian Dictionary of Biography:
http://www.adb.online.anu.edu.au/biogs/A070331b.htm?hilite=B...

I am still not sure how to use this site. Have you been in touch with the Huggins family because they have more than I have. I have a chart prepared in 2000 which shows a William Bleakley b1812 d1893 marrying a Margaret producing Mary Ann 1840, Jane 1841, William 185?4, Isobella 1852, Harriet 1854, Mary Ellen 1860, Margery 186?,. This sounds like your lot. William was known as William Hollow on the land documents because there were so many Bleakleys in Portlongfield. William's father was James b1775 d1835. I am descended from James's younger brother John. Their parents were William Bleakley who married Jane Berry in 1769.

Anyone still interested in the Bleakley family, I am related to them through my uncle Edwin Harrison. He married Virginia Ellen Bleakley, daughter of Charles Laurie Bleakley SR and Catherine Frances Collier. Ralph would be Virginia's brother. I have limited information on this line, and would appreciate exchanging it with others. Virginia just recently passed away, and the family lost touch with much of the Bleakley ancestry.

Thanks so much for responding! My grandmother, Mary Jane Bleakley, born 1862 Enniskillen, married William henderson Elliott(1855 Enniskillen). They died in Toronto (where I was born in 1940)in the 1930's. Their daughter Mary (Minnie) was my grandmother and she married Robert Dickson Wood in Toronto in 1911.

I would love to fill in missing information and correct possible misinformation I have. Was your grandfather Albert the son of George Bleakley and Letitia Fleming?
Catherine Swales Ali
stashali@verizon.net

Bleakley b. 4 Apr 1777 in Ireland and a son William Bleakley. 1776.
It's through Andrew 1777's son William BLeakley. 1808 in New York that it was written. do not know if he had any other children.

I have found a photograph of Hazel Brooks Hoffman photographed by Jackson of Franklin, PA. I would like to return her home to her family. I may repeat this post under my husband's account. Also on the back it says Aunt Vinaa's (but I'm not sure about the 'V') The picture was taken about 1904 judging by the clothes. She is a pretty young woman. Her left hand is showing what looks like an engagment ring or wedding band. Does she belong to you?
The picture was found in Estes Park, CO.
Hello,
I have a number of BLEAKLEY family members in my line. I've also run across the spelling of this as "BLACKLEY".

ELLIS BLEAKLEY (b. 1827, Kearsley, Lancs)married MARGARET HALLIDAY (b. 1833, Bolton, Lancs) in 1851. This is as far back as I've gone to date.

I found that the change of spelling has helped me quite a bit. The census has this family listed mostly as BLEAKLEY but the above marriage was under BLACKLEY.

Give it a try!!!

John Robert Bleakley

I am looking for information about the family of John Robert Bleakley. He was born in Radcliffe Lancashire in 1875 and married Amelia Shaw. They emigrated to the USA about 1899 and settled in California near San Francisco in the Vallego Solana area. I believe they had three children, Jane,Bertha Amelia and John Robert but don't know what happened to the family after that. If anyone has any information I would be grateful.

Hi Robert,

I do have you listed on my tree. Michael McClure Bleakley updated me on Orrin's line a few years back. I would be happy to e-mail you a copy of the tree if you will send me your e-mail address. I have e-mailed it once before so hopefully I can figure it out again. If not I will have to send it snail mail. Anyway, it would be great if you would make sure there are no errors that need to be corrected. I don't have any birth dates listed for your immediate line but it is up to you whether you want that info listed.

I also have put together a Yahoo group for Bleakley family members. I did send out an invitation to the addresses O.D. Bleakley provided me with, but I wasn't sure exactly who was included in the group. If you did not receive it I would be happy to send it to you. I really would like to get the family members to chat a bit before the reunion.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Casey

I am looking for descendants of John and Rosanna Bleakley of Jackson Township, Venango Co., PA. I believe that John may be my ancestor. We know that he remarried after my gggggrandmother died and he had another family. I think this census listing is his second family:

1860 Census; Jackson, Venango Co., PA

Bleakley, John Sr., 72
Rosanna, 50
John H., 22
Sarah J. , 19
Joseph , 18
Mary E., 16
William, 14
George, 12

If this is my John, have a tremendous amount of info on his first family. Other members of the family have done lots of research on the town in Ireland he lived in before he came to the US. Two have even visited Ireland and have located Bleakley relatives still living there. Please e-mail me for more info at caseympreston@aol.com

Casey

Hi John,
My name is Frank Bleakley, the oldest ancestor that I have knowledge of was Andrew Bleakley who left Scotland around 1800 for North Ireland, his sons William and John left Ireland for the U.S.A. somewhere arond 1820 to 1830. This probably won't help you much but if you would be so kind to share any info. you find on Bleakley's of Scotland, I would be greatful. If there is anything I could do for you, please don't hesitate to ask.
Frank
