I have not found out much more about Anne Bledsoe. The only information I have is that she was born 7-6-1846 in England, married William McCurdy in Crawford County Arkansas in about 1870, and died in Dutton, Oklahoma 5-13-1915. I would love to know who her parents were. Her daughter Willa Estella was my g-grandmother.

With out birth years I could not find much.

I did find a James D Bledsoe born abt 1920 living in 1930 in Brooksville, Noxubee, Mississippi with father William H and Ida Bledsoe

Does any of this info sound like your fathers family?

I am the widow of Herbert J. wolfe, Superintendent of The Maryland School for the Blind when our Health Center was named for Sallie Mae Bledsoe, a nurse there for 50 years. Is this the same Sallie Mae? Am I correct that she never married?

I am sorry it took me so long to get back to you I had to go back and look at all I have. The last things I have been able to find on Carter (Carlton)Bledsoe born 1857 in Virginia son of Isaac and Abby bledsoe. His father was a teacher for 14 yrs. at Keokee High School. Last census with him on it was 1910 Kentucky Miracode and 1910 Bell County Turkey Creek census. Listed George m. Bledsoe and brother Stokley Bledsoe (Who was the same as one Jas. S. Bledsoe in the same household in 1900 Virginia Lee County Dryden census. His age and birth information are the same). Also on the 1900 census was Nora Bell Bledsoe (who married my great grandfather William H. Flanary) her birth Dec. 1884, Hatty Bledsoe birth May 1892 (She also shows up in the Wise Couty Virginia Marriages along with Carter) and last Abbey L. Bledsoe birth Nov. 1896 all were born in Virginia except Nora who along with her mother was born in Tennessee and Carter was a widower. The 1910 also included his new wife formerly known at Mary Stidman-Tulley with her daughter Ina Tulley age I believe listed as 13 step daughter to Carter. Other than that I lost him. Mary Stidman-Bledsoe shows up in the STIDMAN geneology and on Tim Phillips pages (she was his great grandmother and Ina was his grandmother.) I hope I have that part right. She's in FIND A GRAVE under Mary Stidman who passed away in 1928 in Andover,Virginia in Lee County. There's no mention of him whatsoever. There's also a picture of her. SO if anyone can point the way or know something please, please help!

Did C.H. Bledsoe born 1857 have a son C.H. Bledsoe, who was born about 1902, and did this one have a son born in the 1902's? There is a Bledsoe family living in Hazard City, Perry County, Kentucky in the 1930 census with C.H. Bledsoe age 28, Lineman for the railroad, with wife Martha and son C.H.

I apologize for anyones inconvenience! I can trace everything about Carter (Carlton) Henry Bledsoe from 1920 back to all his family. I also went through the Stedman site and found his last wife mary (Bertha) Stidman-Tulley Bledsoe. Her entire family tree. It even mentioned her place, time and burial in Andover, Virginia. But nothing on Carter (Carlton Bledsoe) except where and when they married. I tried tracing through all family members but keep coming up with nothing. This is a big mystery He can't in no way be still alife he would be over 155 years old. So if anyone can give any assistance it would be greatfully appreciated. I even went through the mining sites. And one more query does anyone know where his first wife is buried, and his parents?

It shows a Margaret Bledsoe, Widow of C.H. Bledsoe, living in Quincy, Illinois. It is hard to tell whether this C.H. is the one you are looking for, but you might search obituaries in Quincy, Illinois in 1926 and earlier.

Not to sound like this is a scold, but it is always good to be very specific when you are asking for help in looking for information on your family history. When I began looking at census data after your first message, the name "Carter" threw me off because you had not mentioned that was a name he went by.

Where and when is the very last place you tracked Carlton/Carter to? Do you have any family stories telling which child he tended to live with most of the time? Do you know if he had another wife or domestic partner before he died? Have you checked out the book "Descendants of John Stidham" by Ules G Stidman Jr? Do you know if Carlton/Carter was with Mary Ann when she died in Virginia?

Everything that everyone here mentioned is what I have and found out I know Mary tulley-stidman-bledsoe died in Jonesville virginia. But what happened to Carlton is my mystery. And the Ceba is a man. Actually he was my grandfather. His mother Nora Bell Bledsoe-Flanary was my great-great gandmother. Their lives are another mystery. Bell County kentucky doesn't have or give enough information to track people.

I have an Isaac Bledsie (1828) m Abigal (1824)m abt 1843

Isaac is the son of Samplson and Marcissus Bledsoe

Isaac had a son Carlton H born Oct 1875 Lee Scott Co VA.

He married Mary Ann Stedman date 9/25/1905 Wise Co VA. I have listed that Mary Stedman m Galloway, Tully, Bledsoe.

They had Callie born abt 1902. Callie m Van Scalf.

They had Nora Bell who married Wm Flanary. Child Ceba (not sure if girl or boy.)

Mary Ann b 8/25/1860 Powell Valley Wise Co VA and died 12/2/1928 Wise Co VA.

Wish I could help more however this is a 6th cousin 3 times removed and I haven't done much except catch things as I find them.

Hope it helps.

You might want to check out "Descendants fo John Stidham" by Ules G Stidman Jr and see if she is in there. Someone gave me this info but we don't have the book in our library.

Do you know of a Henry BLEDSOE born around 1804 that married Temperance (Tempe) ROBARDS. Henry was the son of Jacob BLEDSOE born ca 1762/64 Wake County, North Carolina. He is often confused with his cousin Jacob that is nicknamed Jacob JR. It is my guess that her daughter Louisa F. BLEDSOE would be my gg grandmother. In the 1850 census of Bedford County Tennessee, Henry is deceased and Tempe BLEDSOE/BLEDSAW is listed as the head of the household. I am looking for documentation of Louisa F. as being the Frances that married James MOORE. They are buried in the area of where the BLEDSOE family is buried in Moore's Chapel Cemetery in Bedford County, Tennessee.

My apologies, most of the info was posted some 10yrs ago.
Catherine Bittle b. Sept 20, 1818 ,d.June 30 1882. Valentine Bledsoe b. June 9, 1814,d.June 16,1888 m. Feb.18,1836 in Jackson Co. Mo.
They are both buried in Maysville Co. Mo
Isaac Bledsoe is the father and I only have a couple of the syblings. Austin, Gavin.
This isn't my direct line but a brother to Catherine.
Bledsoe's seem to be in Mo in the 1820's on.

I know that this is an old post but I just ran across it and wanted to respond in case you haven't found any further information on your Frank Bledsoe who married to Bessie Courtney. Frank and Bessie are burried in the cemetery at Sibley, Missouri right south of old Fort Osage. Frank was the son of Welcome and Louisa ( Huntsucker ) Bledsoe.
