Tom Blyth originally from Massachusetts. Son of James Blyth of Everrett and Medford Ma. Grandfather was Arthur Blyth of Medford, died 1965. There the trail goes cold. Arthur was an orphan. No record of whether Blyth was birth or adopted name. We believe he was sent to live with another family in Everett. Would welcome any possible leads as the little leaves have stopped appearing.

I've been tracing my ancestry from Robert Blyth (Kennoway, Fifeshire, Scotland 1788 - 1854), married Margaret Brown (1790 - 1869) and came to Canada in 1832 or 1834. I have quite a bit of info on the Blyth's but have some discrepancies. Would be willing to exchange any info with you. Thanks!

I have a photo of David Spence Blyth's Brother Andrew. He came to Australia some time prior to 1879. I have not found him on a shipping list yet. Andrew is my great great grandfather. He married Cecelia Wensley in 1879. They had a daughter, Lutheran aka Lauretta Blyth who married David Apps.
If you require any further information you can contact me at hopemarg@gmail.com
Happy researching from Down Under.

Re: George W. Blyth b. 1837 Eng. or NFland grew up in NY

I am not sure I have ever gotten back to you on this...if not I apologize (we had anew baby and moved in 2009 and getting settled has taken alot of time). Anyway, a big mystery for me has been what happened to George E. Blyth. His daughter stayed Orleans Co., New York and is found in cemetery records but I couln never find the parents. I recently upgraded to an international subscription and lo and behold there is a probate record of George E. Blyth's death and him giving his effects to his son Frederick Edwin. So George William and Frederick were brothers. So many more questions around why Frederick stayed behind!
Do you have any more info on when they were in Newfoundland?
Sincerely,
Melissa

The Blyths

I am researching my Blyth ancestors who were mainly on the Scottish borders [Kelso etc].My great grandparetns were James Blyth born 1848 in Sprouston and Jessie Cowan Wilson born in 1850 in Kelso. James parents were John Blyth and Mary Ann Smith, both born in Northumberland in 1823 and 1825. The other children of John and Mary Ann were John [died - unmarried - in Utah], Anne, Helen, Charles, Mary Ann, and Isabella. I think they were all born in Sprouston Scotland. Mary Ann married John White. They both died in Sheilstock Braes in the 1950s. They had two sons - Charles White and John Blyth White. There my research comes to an end.Can anyone help with this line? Thank you. John Burford

HI John
My James Blyth was supposedly born in 1811/1812 in mains strathmartine dundee he was a member of the 21st royal fusiliers and was stationed in Western Australia in 1833 he was discharged from the army and married Comfort Stanton and settled in Western Australia. According to information I have had from people his father was William Blyth and his mother Ann Graham, we have never been able to categorically prove this as a record can not be found.
Ann

Jane Blyth was my grandfather, John Dunsire Blyth's sister.
I have loads of information on the Blyths on my tree.I also have some details of the McInnes's but you will have more. Please look at my tree for details.

the names are so strikingly similar, it is positively eerie, however, the picture I have of the Wm. Thomas Blyth family indicates the Wm. Thomas was born around the same time as your gf, however, he was born in Lambton Mills in Ontario, Can. (now part of Toronto). His son Wm. Howland was born in 1876 n in Ont. but shortly after the family moved to the Red River in Manitoba and Wms. son Ralph was born in Saskatewan in 1907- he was my father-in-law. The names and dates are so close that it seems there should be some connection. Wm Thomas' father came to Canada as a widower with a grown daughter who was a widow and who ended up marrying a Wm. Howland who was American but became one of the Fathers of Confederation. Whether there were other family members who emigrated to America or not, I don't know.

Hi Wendy
Just by chance I thought I might check to see if anyone knew anything of the Blyth's from Huggate, and you had recently been on the message board. I haven't been checking for a couple of years, so this was lucky.
So Emily was my Grandmother who married Arthur Hall and had 5 children, William (Charlie) my Dad, Thomas, Sam, Mary and Enid. The boys all trained racehorses, Dad in Towton and Sam and Thomas at Middleham, Yorks.
I moved to Canada, Manitoba in 2003 with my family to farm, a great move, and discovered others of my family already here.
Contact me at cathpair@inetlink.ca
Look forward to hearing from you and I'll fill you in with all the news.
Robert

I haven't anything new on your line, but in your wondering about Duncan being Donkin, I would say that there was a Duncan family from Fife that had ties to the Blyth's as well. For example, there was a John Duncan Blyth with a son John (born circa 1826). My Ann Mathew that married a different John Blyth, than the above, had a grandmother Mary Duncan from Fife. So I would guess it is Duncan, not Donkin, unless you have good reason to believe otherwise.

I'll let you know if I come across anything.

Thanks,

Bill Groeschell
wbgro@comcast.net
