Hello Cathy
Very interested in the detail you sent me. I have checked out Richard & Joseph
Bobbett against my copies of the 1851 & 1881 censuses and they certainly appear to be father & son. I feel sure that I can make a connection with my Bobbetts at Ashcott. I don't know if you know
Wookey but its only about 7/8 miles from Ashcott and I live at
Glastonbury about half way between, its fairly easy for me to check parish records.
I also looked for the birth Albert
Bobbett on the rootsweb 'Free BMD' but was puzzled when I only found 1 birth between 1903 & 1905 in the county of
Monmouth and that was for Albert Edward
Bobbett born Sept Quarter 1903 & registered in
Cardiff. Could this be him?, maybe somebody changed the second name along the way. Maybe you will get the answer when you see your aunt's certificates.
Do you know that some of the
Wookey Bobbetts emigrated to
America? But then perhaps you live in New Yok state.
I'll do some more checking, but if you want anything specific checked out I've got access to a lot of data so i may be able to help. I'll be very interested to hear how you get on.
regards
Bill
